The St. Bernard or Saint Bernard is a breed of very large working dog from the Western Alps in Italy and Switzerland. They were originally bred for rescue work by the hospice of the Great St Bernard Pass on the Italian-Swiss border.The hospice, built by and named after the Alpine monk Saint Bernard of Menthon, acquired its first dogs between 1660 and 1670. The breed has become famous through tales of Alpine rescues, as well as for its large size and gentle temperament.

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday ! Happy Pentecost / Whit Sunday to all.who celebrate!

Gma, I think the Cavalier King Charles spaniel is from a completely different line from the cocker. The toy spaniels were very popular over here amongst royalty, especially during the reign of Queen Mary and King Charles Ii. The original little dog had the long nose of the cavalier, but over the years they were crossed with flat nosed breeds like the pug and Japanese Chinese, and we ended up with the King Charles Spaniel with the domed head and flatter nose. Attempts were made at the turn of the 20th century to recreate the original Cavalier KC, using the now extinct English Toy spaniel, and the first Cavalier club was formed in 1928. Today there are two distinct dogs, the King Charles spaniel with the domed head and flatter nose and the Cavalier King Charles, which does look more like the original breed (Years ago, I had a Blenheim CKC called "Emma" . She lived a long and happy life, and, unusually for the breed, had a very healthy heart. During her life time the breed unfortunately became much less healthy and the life expectancy fell dramatically, mostly due to heart issues, so after her, we decided not to have another one.

Today will be church , with a celebration for Pentecost, and then I'm having coffee with DF E. I managed to get Matilda's first does if Metacam into her last night, and we had a much better night's sleep. I'm wondering if the gingivitis was causing dental pain that made her wake so early? One thing to mention I . Friday when she goes back to the vet.

St Bernards always make me think of a dog-teddybear kind of personality.

Been missing from the boards, but reading posts - busy week and then busy Saturday catching up with kids and house, a doc appt to change my perimenopause management prescription, athletics competition for DS9... and time being lazy on the couch.
Today could include applying for a job offer much closer to home but propably not well paid (no mention of salary on the job offer). This is mostly an opportunity to work on my resume - hasn't been updated for a year - but who knows ? And since the day will be sunny, there will be time in the garden and maybe for a walk or some sort of outdoor activity with the kids.

I was never able to get through yesterday, and not even this morning, so I am crossing my fingers it works this time!

I think Saint Bernard dogs are so cute, if you could call a beast that big cute, kittykatt!
Frenchie, you never know, the job might be a good fit, and saving commute time counts as well!

I think Saint Bernards are cute too, in a big ol' huggable doofus sort of way, like the dog-teddybear personality FFB mentioned. I think they drool a lot? LOL!

You have been busy, trissie.
That was nice of NrNG and Ds9 to capture and release the snails rather than kill them, FFB. I'm curious what will happen when you apply to that job. Closer to home sounds like a big plus! And maybe the possibility of a better boss??

Yesterday felt quite scheduled in the end with the 5K run in the morning, the zoom call 12 - 1:15, the wedding and then dinner out with dh afterward (out 4 - 7:45). I did get most of the change of address cards done - should be able to finish in about 20 minutes. I also got 1 lol finished, wash - put away.

As for the wedding yesterday, we saw the couple from afar (I never saw her but dh said he did), and we saw some of the people who thought we were immoral for taking a neutral stance after the trial. Who knows what they think now? --But I bet that they think we're the bad guys one way or another. We said "hello" to each other in passing but did not engage in deeper conversation. However, our entire CG1 was there, B was there, and friends from the past were there. Dh and I got lots of hugs, and it was clear some people were very happy to see us. I felt well-accepted by these people. Some that had been in leadership with dh didn't approach us - some did - but we also didn't stay long at the reception. We left when the sit down dinner started. It was good. Being back in the church was mildly triggering for us both.

Today is also fairly scheduled. Bday brunch for CN 12:30 - 2:30. I will visit the art fair where dd29 has a stall, make a WF run, and then host Sunday dinner for up to 7 people. I am going to skip church today; I can't get to and from the Anglican church (in another town) in time for the brunch bc the commute is so long. And I don't feel like visiting the AME church by myself. AND these scheduled weekends are starting to wear on me; last weekend was a 7 event weekend. This weekend, it's just 5 events (Friday bday party picnic, zoom call w/ dsil and dbil in the UK, wedding, bday brunch, hosting Sunday dinner) + visiting the art hop - if I skip church. Dh visited my mom yesterday, so I'll go visit her on Monday. Next weekend is 6 events if I include church + hosting Sunday dinner.

It is still a little hazy today; the AQI is at 118. (smoke from wildfires in Canada) I'm not in a sensitive group so I'm not too worried. It looks like the sun is trying to shine - but there's a good chance of rain until noon. High today is 75*, so really comfortable temps!

Hi trissie, you deserve some rest. I think you still have one week before your DH is back?

L.Ann you always have a busy schedule... I'm curious about the barn party at your DD32's ?

MrNG and I had some sort of nap on the LR couch while the kids played / fought a bit, I'm not sure I actually slept, more like dozing off. We watched the calendar for July-August, we need to make daycare reservations for DKids, with the small likelihood that MrNG could start a job in August and/or need a few days to work from home on his own business... It's weird not to know in advance. School stops on july 5th and starts again in September. I have 2 weeks + 1 day off, middle of August.
