What's your weather? LadyM is facing possibly bad weather, and we've had severe early evening T storms the last two days but are seeing better weather today.

And the storms of life? So glad to see Harriet feeling up to joining in again here, and hoping that bw2 is hanging in there this week, too. What other storms is our little village facing?

good morning stay safe everyone.

working on coming out of the storm (figuratively) over here and looking to the sunshine that is out there today. My card files and my garden keeps calling for me -

working through getting back into outside work and inside routines (during the week) and working out how to help our caretaker to keep with uplifting positive stories and action during her time during the day. I spend most of the day with mom still and I need the caretaker to help with mom on pt, breakfast and lunch (I have been doing that) and continue helping with getting her up in the morning etc. I still help with that. am not sure how much longer we can keep this one. she tends to give little jabs about us to mom and then to others and then will say things about other family members to me - your brother made her get up - I found out dd' older was there the entire time and that didn't happen.
her wanting to take over all the discussions with the drs and pt/ot when she hasn't done that has been a problem. we had to stop that. She is not happy about that. she also takes mom's wheelchair away from me when we are walking into the doctor. I told her I had it but thank you but she keeps trying to take over.

I think I and the family will set up a guideline of what our expectations are for her in a kind but firm way. (simple and positive).
I want to work on what I need to during the day and still have time to see mom in between instead of being inside with them all day.

Our storm yesterday was short-lived, but a doozy. Rain blew into all sides of our screened porch, to the point that one of the inside windows (Interior of porch, replaced an original door there) leaked. Water was standing on the porch and the rug soaked through. The windows on the more shallow front porch all had water blown in also. An Adirondack chair (one of the inexpensive ones) blew across the yard to land again the next door fence. We had borrowed dfriend M's rug cleaner to clean the rug on the porch (they did theirs recently and it looks great!) and dh used it to vacuum up as much dirty water as possible. Rug may not need additional cleaning, but it took him trips out every couple of minutes to empty the bin of dirty water. It will finish drying today with lower humidity I think.

Dh was up early this a.m. to fly to NY. So glad I didn't go. Slight twinges of guilt - should I have gone? - but I'm good. Being home alone is good for my mental health now and then.

Good idea on the cameras bw2, regardless of whether this caretaker stays around or not. It's good to see you posting and here's hoping you can get some routines and outside time back.

Nancy, a nearby church used to have Jazzercise classes in its separate fellowship hall during the heyday or perhaps just after (since we were never on the cutting edge of anything around here). This was during the time I was so busy with work and my older children, etc., etc., plus I was slim then, lol. So, I guess no one ever thought of me to invite. Also, I was a member of a church, at that time, that at least used to think dancing was potentially sinful so probably didn't even discuss that other church being so misled. (smile?) Boot Scootin' Boogie and "Country Line Dancing" was popular here when my ds was dating, so even that seems a long time ago in some ways. You make me think of Zumba! I know you and I have both enjoyed that at times. (youtube's free lessons, hurray)

Weather - we awakened to find that a package was delivered in the rain, and the delivery person had opened our screen door and put it on the porch. Thank goodness! I must be sure to post compliment that delivery. Lately, there seems to be some rules against placing on any but a fully open porch - but most always used to open our screen, rain or shine, citing possibility of theft or damage.

Storms of Life - ohmigoodness. Not immune here.

Good morning!

My weather plan today is to ignore it as much as possible. 95F is our predicted temp so care will be taken to keep DH from getting too hot. If I take my eyes off DH for any length of time, he will be outside working up a sweat until I insist that he get cooled off. If the predicted drama filled weather happens this evening there isn't much we need to prepare. The cellar is ready and waiting so we only need to be withing running distance of it.

Our extended family is gathering to celebrate our oldest family member today. My Dad's youngest brother is turning 90 years old. DUncle has always been one of my favorites of that generation and now he is the last one to be alive. He recently found out he has cancer but is choosing to not take treatment. He wants to continue to live what time he has left to the fullest. He drives himself an hour each way to exercise at the gym twice a week. He continues to run cattle on his land. He continues to be active in church and community committees & events. I wish I could introduce DUncle to everyone I know. He is a wonderful man that I highly admire and respect with a sense of humor and frequent unique sounding laughter that I love hearing. Last time I talked to him I told him "You be good!" DUncle started laughing and said "I don't have to be good because I have 5 lawyers in my family to keep me out of jail". It wasn't an arrogant type of statement if you know his humor and way of life. He has such high standards for himself and family that I doubt if he has ever even got a speeding ticket in his life.
ANYway, we will be making a 2 hour drive today to gather with family to celebrate DUncle.

happy birthday to your d uncle I am sorry your d uncle found out he has cancer I am praying for him.. your sweet uncle sounds like a remarkable man! he is funny and witty!
two hours is far but I hope you have a lovely time with your uncle!

d harriet i forgot those dances - fun!!! I have never seen Zumba but it sounds like fun.

it's always a joy to be here. We have had a lot of rough but dh has been himself again for a longer period of time than in a long time. he is nice again. He looks healthy!!!
Mom is being particularly nasty this morning and said she enjoys it and can say and do what ever she wants. It hurts a little but I move on and say nothing bc she can't help it. yesterday and this morning she was with it now it's hard for her. I let the wind change and see where she goes next personality wise. it's got to be so hard for her. her being super nice usually means she is sick.

I am offering (aka bribing?) the teens with this challenge today - I will pay you $1 for the name of every family member you talked to today. They could potentially earn $70-$100ish amount of money if they stay engaged. I am not the party planner for this event so I have no idea how many to expect will be attending. I know some family from NYC and Fort Worth are coming. Unknown is how many family members that live in the surrounding area will attend.

49 years ago today I gave birth to a daughter that has filled our lives with a multitude of emotions both high and low. DD49 doesn't approach life quietly but does everything big and to the extreme. Boring is one characteristic that will never be used to describe DD49. She is predictably unpredictable.

blessed, looks like carer is trying too hard to show she's indispensable. I wish this could be a better fit.
