Thinking this morning about vergerswife and her household in the loss of her daughter. Grateful, also, for hospice care pros who have been blessings to so many families.

Re: Solving and Resolving on Sunday, PWYC
Morning all. Oh my goodness I am so sorry about vergerswife dd. So hard for them.
I wish I could do a better job of planning in goals. I have so many things I would like to do and so very slowly get there. I guess I am really close on my outdoor flowerbeds that I have wanted to do for years. I have some plants still sitting there supposed to go in it so I need to get it done. I'm thinking it would only actually take a few days of reorganize to finish up the bedroom/closet Declutter project. Except I am always finding something else. Sidetracked? Pulled 10 directions.
For some of you managing dementia... questions. Wow. Yesterday was a very hard day. I had mom from 2 till 730 ish. Dad went out for a car show drive with his club with his 65 truck. I realized in the morning mom needed her b12 shot again. She was bright and cheerful in a shirt I had not seen her wear yet. Ready for town. So we went right away and did that. Then she wanted my house. So we came and had tea and I mixed up some cookie dough. No sooner I started defrosting meat for supper and dad called. He was where he couldn't turn around and come back but there were some dear out of town friends that had come to the house to visit and no one was home. Mom was all excited and in the car again. We found them and had a very nice visit. Just when they were ready to head home mom did her usual and got up and crawled in bed. She was tired. They left and I told her she could rest and I would make supper.
Well I started meatloaf. Mixed it up too quickly and actually forgot a couple ingredients. Just about ready to put it in the oven and I noticed. Mom was going out the door. Did she want a walk? No she was getting in the car again. Did she want to go to my house for supper? Yeah. So I put her in the car and grabbed the meatloaf and off we went again. That was fine cause I had no supper plans for home... we got there and she got up all confused and walked around the car again. She was getting in the driver seat. She hasn't driven in 2 years. Where we going? I had to convince her supper was here and then she could go home.
Now she has had a very busy social week or so with my aunt coming and the grad and I don't remember what all. I have to hope in a bit my sister will get text. She switched one med for a different one and dad got mixed up and was giving her the as needed anxiety med every morning.
which med is she supposed to be on? She's starting to get more agitated and just when she is in bed she gets up and is going somewhat or tries to cook an egg flat on the stove.... I seriously don't think dad can do this alone.
How do you change her direction when you don't know what she's thinking and she is just going somewhere. I have got to reach out to some other friends again I think. Maybe someone other than his daughters can convince him he needs more long term care help.

Morning…
Harriet… mirroring your thoughts for vergerswife.
I am still working around my home to complete my kitchen redo. I have several new drapes of different colors to determine what goes best with my home.
I need to wash several of my throw rugs and extra sheets.
I put off having cleaners come to my home because I will be puppy sitting from Tuesday till Saturday this coming week: a tiny little Yorkie that weighs abt 3 lbs.
Her name is Coco and she adores Sweetie. Her owns told us how surprised they were to see that because Coco doesn’t usually like strange men. They brought Coco to visit us this past week and she and Sweetie were already playing hide and seek within 15 minutes! This made me smile.
Off to start my day… bbl

Re: Solving and Resolving on Sunday, PWYC
I didn't have a chance to check in yesterday. The day just rolled on, away from me. The bar mitzvah was lovely - a young man with an excellent rapport with the rabbi and the service shaded to humanistic Judaism with some of the traditional readings too. Humanistic Judaism is based not on belief in God but humanistic belief. This might explain it - hope the link works: https://www.google.com/books/edition/En ... frontcover
It was a meaningful service - I saved the service booklet that the family had produced and will scan and send to dd as well. My personal beliefs edge toward Humanistic Judaism honestly, didn't realize that until now.
After the luncheon at which I ate half a bagel and noodle pudding (carbs!) I needed a nap. Got up to walking ddog in the heat and then dfriends at river wanting to know what our ETA was. They were ready for a boat ride and I was overheated with walk then had to hustle to get ready, and dh and I had words. Finally at the river, we were on the boat a couple of hours. One adult dd skied on a kneeboard (she will leave in August to move to LA to begin rabbinic school in her forties) and dfriend A skied also - in late seventies no less. Back at their condo we ordered supper online and A picked it up. Finally home late and pretty exhausted. Fun afternoon the but the heat can be exhausting when the boat isn't moving. The boat is new to them them year - extremely roomy.
Today we only have the temple annual meeting. I'm hoping to NOT go out to eat after. I'm pretty peopled out right now. I have a dislike of the annual meetings anyway after one I was chairing went terribly awry and I was berated horribly by an elderly member who was entering dementia, although few said so at the time I think.
Dh leaves early in the a.m. for last biz trip - home at 6ish on Tuesday, then he'll work possibly three days later in the week? Then it's only Monday the 30th. On Thursday night is a client party that I'll attend.
Dh went out and walked earlier with ds, i was able to sleep in.

RR, dog sitting sounds like fun for Sweetie and you! I know what you mean about getting the kitchen back together. We had things displaced in our kitchen redo that are still floating looking for a home.
Lauralind, caring for your mother sounds exhausting - did the transitions (to your home, back home, back again) contribute to her confusion? The time of day is contributory also, I'm sure.
Thinking of vergerswife today.
Nancy, what do you have happening today? More creativity? Your coffee cake sounds lovely!
And so happy to find Harriet posting and feeling better and continuing in recovery.

I agree!so happy to find Harriet posting and feeling better and continuing in recovery.
We are having a quiet Sunday morning. The teens are still sleeping.
An idea came to me during the night of how to use some food ingredients. I cooked that experiment using two different methods (cast iron skillet and air fryer). The food came out tasty, but the air fryer is so much easier, so I am voting for that method.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

(((Vergers))) I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your DD. (Harriet very kindly let us all know.) I'll continue to keep you and your family in in my prayers.
LucyLee, re watering new trees, I was always told to give them a really good soak when watering. More precisely, the diameter of the trunk in inches at around knee height was equal the number of (UK) gallons of water needed.
Matilda came through her dental surgery successfully on Wednesday, and ended up having 10 teeth extracted (2 molars, 1 canine, the tooth behind her canine, and 6 incisors). None of this seems.to bother her, and she is still bouncing round the house as if she were on springs.
Her discharge papers after her surgery said she had been a "pleasure to treat" - something I am not used to hearing about Freddie in these circumstances!

I was going to cut the grass yesterday. Dh said it looked like rain. It never did rain, at least not where we live. Other places in northern Ontario got quite a storm. I cut most of the grass this morning and dh did some weed whacking. We are at the start of a heat wave that should last until at least Tuesday. Glad the grass is done.
Fresh sheets are on the bed and I have the air conditioning on in there. I'm going to go lay down and read for a bit.
