Deadpool is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, the character first appeared in New Mutants #98 (December 1990). In his comic book appearances, Deadpool is initially depicted as a supervillain of the New Mutants and X-Force, though later stories would portray him as an antihero. Deadpool is the alter ego of Wade Wilson, a disfigured Canadian mercenary with superhuman regenerative healing abilities.

Originally created as a parody of the DC Comics villain Deathstroke (Slade Wilson), the character was an instant success with readers, becoming a breakout character in the X-Men books, quickly developing a distinctive backstory and earning his own series and a joint book alongside the character Cable with whom he is frequently paired. Part of the reason for his popularity is his tendency to joke incessantly and break the fourth wall for humorous effect.

The character's popularity has seen him featured in numerous other media outlets. In the 2004 series Cable & Deadpool, he refers to his own scarred appearance as "Ryan Renolds [sic] crossed with a Shar Pei". Reynolds developed an interest in portraying the character after reading the comic, which was ultimately realized in the X-Men film series, including X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Deadpool (2016), and its sequels Deadpool 2 (2018) and Marvel Cinematic Universe's Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).

Good morning Trissie and thank you for another interesting start. Congratulations for your wedding anniversary yesterday!

Gma, a bouquet of garden flowers sounds lovely. I'm sure your DMum enjoyed them.

WTG getting the air conditioner set up, Dogged!

Bama, I'm happy to say that Freddie, having slept for the greater part of yesterday, is back to his usual self this morning, :D

What was DD making for her cooking class, L Ann?

Helian, I hope you're able to solve the mystery of whatever is biting M. When did it start? Was it after she had been travelling? ( She could have brought bed bugs back on/ in her luggage, or alternatively, it could have given any fleas carried by mice time to lay eggs and hatch. ) If she has found traces of mice in her bed, :!: then I would suspect fleas. (Bedbugs have I believe , a distinct odour, plus you usually get brown/ red marks on the sheets. Scabies often starts in places like between the fingers, and, if course , mice can carry the mange mites, but if M feels she's being bitten, and there has been a mouse /rat problem then I think fleas are probably more likely, especially if she's being bitten in bed. If she is worried about scabies, then the "mectin" group of drugs - Ivermectin, Salamectin etc are effective, but PLEASE ensure she sees a doctor/ pharmacist, so she is properly diagnosed and prescribed the correct dose, rather than going to the animal feed store and buying the horse drug!)

Eating in bed is NEVER a good idea, especially if you don't use a plate, as any food crumbs attract mice /rats etc, especially if you go away without changing the sheets, so the mice are left undisturbed.

There's no easy way to say this, but roughly 5% of the fleas are on the animal, the rest will be in the carpet, curtains and other soft furnishings, including the bed, where they lay their eggs, which can take weeks to hatch. To take care of the mouse problem, if M is squeamish about dealing with dead mice, or doesn't like the thought of killing something, it's possible to buy traps that trap mice alive, and you can then take them to a suitable area to release them. The downside, mice very easily become stressed and die, so it's important to check the traps every couple of hours. Another issue with mice is that they have very poor bladder control, and tend to use their urine as a form of communication and also as a "marker" - another reason not to have them running round the house!

To get rid of the fleas, I would recommend spraying with something like Acclaim, which, as well as killing the adult fleas,.also contains a growth retardant to stop the eggs hatching and the nymph stage from maturing to an adult flea. This is very important, as you need to break the cycle. Be sure to treat all soft furnishings (M will need to strip the bed right down, spray the mattress etc, and wash all the bed linens in a hot wash) and any cracks /crevices - between the floor and skirting board is another place they like to hide. Regular vacuuming is also very important! Also give the insides of drawers, cheats, wardrobes a spray too, especially those that contain clothing. This might sound like overkill, but they can get anywhere, and you really don't want to end up with an infestation. It might also be a good idea to treat the rest of the house as a precaution - fleas can hop on and be carried on your clothes. I have to admit I'm itching as I write this!

Humourous flea story: when we rescued Freddie from his abusive first "home", we were told he had had fleas. I wasn't too worried, as I'd recently treated the house, and the other cars were up to date with their flea control. When we got him home, I stood him on a sheet of white paper and combed him through with a nit comb - nothing. Not even a trace of the "cigarette ash" of their droppings.

On the Monday after the weekend, he went to the vet for a check up, and she did the same thing with the same result. Because he was a kitten, he was prescribed a smaller dose of the flea control the others had.

Fast forward a few weeks. We had adopted Freddie from the adult daughter of our neighbours who lived opposite us at the time, , and when I came home from shopping one morning, D (the husband) had obviously been sent out by his wife to wait for my return . He very confidentially asked whether we had had a flea problem since adopting Freddie. When I said "No", he admitted that both their house and the daughter's flat were alive with them, and everyone was being bitten. What had happened was the next generation of fleas had hatched, and with Freddie now having left, were using all the humans for their food supply. He was not happy to hear they were living in the carpets, sofa etc. I recommended Acclaim, and he slunk back indoors to break the news to his wife. I lingered for a few minutes, and then I heard the scream!

And now I've written an essay, and it's time for me to get moving!

I got distracted this morning by a long phone call from MQ, the verger at church, which means it would be sensible to leave my walk and most of the gardening until this evening, as now it's turned hot and very humid. But I have managed to order my meds, tidy upstairs and run the hoover round, and take Freddie for his walk.

Lunch next, then I'll make a start on the kitchen.

Morning trissie and kittykat. Quiet morning here if I'm next after you two.

How nice a long phone conversation kittykat. At least I think it sounded like a good distraction.

Another busy day for trissie.

Hmmm how to organize my day. What do I want to do. Only one specific thing planned. Pastor's wife has invited me out for a belated birthday lunch. Other than that I probably will go out to mom and dad's a bit this morning. My crazy Saturday with mom did not allow for any weeding in the greenhouse and if I want to get anything out of those plants I need to free them fro suffocating. Also order the curtains. Actually I should stop and look in town again now that I straightened out my Amazon the one deal I found was too good to be true lol. Maybe those ones from feilds would be ok.

I also have to wait to hear from my sister see first if she actually talks to dad first. We have confusion on mom's meds. She was supposed to stop one and switch to a diet one but dad got confused and the pharmacy has sent him both of them. Then we got mixed up with the wrong one we thought was stopping. Ugh. She dug into the dr info last night and now we have to clarify what actually dad is giving her and get it straight. So that is going to tell me when I should go there. If she can do it by talking to him I will go after lunch out there. If not I will go morning and tell dad I have lunch plans. Maybe possibly ds can come help?

Other things? Groceries. A bit of weeding here. Work more on my flowerbed. Or if suddenly it is raining ds can help me clean in the living room.

Priority list

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Laundry
Put lighter summer sheets on bed
Fix med fiasco
Weeding in greenhouse
Lunch out
Work on living room some
Get rid of broken monitor and maybe the amp in the closet?

Today's tada list

Shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Tidy laundry room
Take sheets off bed for wash

Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen all the way
Wipe counters and tables

Thanks for all the info, Kitty! I'm sure I'll come back and re-read it. We have dealt with fleas before; Lily, dd29's cat, came to us with fleas. Ugh. Our dogs were always on flea prevention. And we deal with mice in the house every fall; it is rather unusual to have them in the house in the summer, but we caught 3 more last week. Yes, the problem started after M's 2nd trip this summer. M's mom is a nurse, and she sent her pics of the bites. Her mom thought fleas or bedbugs -- but wasn't sure.

I don't know if you remember, but when we went to Israel for 4 months, dd29 stayed in our house -- and a huge mouse problem blossomed out of control. I don't know if she wasn't maintaining traps or what happened. When we got back, we had to do some major cleaning. We even rented a dumpster and threw a bunch of stuff out. (In a strange way, that was really enjoyable!) Remembering that incident, there were no fleas associated with it.

Thanks for another super hero start, trissie! Deadpool is one that I'm not so familiar with; I never saw the film. I hope your day is going well. Thinking of you with payroll, preps for vacation, and I think the kids' last week of school as well?
I hope you can get the meds for your mom sorted out easily, Lauralind. A birthday lunch sounds great!

I'm up earlier today. I think I am now caught up on sleep. I'm heading out for a jog soon. It's warm and damp - we got rain last night - but this is still the coolest part of the day. Later, I'll head back to the grocery store. We're cooking tonight + I can get what we need for the camping trip. Then, I'll spend more time writing, working on some deskwork catch up, reading - and perhaps visit the arb or another site. :)

That's tough helian. I hope you can find the source of the issue. Critters and bugs are such a nuisance.

D (pastor's wife) has become a great support. She's in my parents age group almost. And a stable sense of logic. Much appreciated. I enjoy spending time with her.

I'm not getting very far yet but it's just 7. I don't have to get moving that early on my day off right? Especially since it's summer and no school run. Just have to sort out a bit and find a way to motivate ds15 who has kinda lost his motivation for his hobbies and is going to spend much too much time alone while we work. What does an anti social kid like him do in summer so he's not bored out of his mind while we work.
