Friday Conga Line PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Come on, shake your body, baby
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger
Don't you fight it 'til you've tried it
Do the conga beat

Thank you for the start, Twins. I hope DH's party was a success last night, and not too hot!

This has been a busy week for me - two vet appointments (both planned - Matilda's first post op check up after her dental procedure, and Freddie's monthly Solensia injection for his arthritis.) Matilda's mouth is healing well, and they're very pleased with her. We go back for a final check in another 10 days. She was also a little angel. :D Freddie OTOH, kept up a non stop growl, hissed at the vet when he came in and tried to pick a fight with a St Bernard dog (Freddie has no sense of proportion!) And snarled at the vet the whole time we were discussing his recent blood tests and x-rays. Fortunately, once he's back home he's my happy boy again. :D

Thursday was church and then parish lunch which I've just taken over organising. We were only 5, but everyone enjoyed themselves. And today I had a hygienist appointment first thing. It's a beautiful day, so I'm spending as much of it was I can in my garden.

this morning it was rough for d mom - I woke up at 6 am and mom called out to see who I was - I checked on her and she had p**p all over the place - poor thing - she didn't have the wherewithal to call me. She showed me her hands and she said "it's not blood?" Poor thing.
It took a long time to scrub her and everything down. I had to rinse her off with a bucket.
I had just finished and the helper came at 8:30 pm

The helper is only 40 and she is positive and knows how to keep mom moving forward. She used to be a CNA (all verified) at a nursing home for 7 years before working for the company we hired her from, she has two children and one on the way. She works 2 days a week so she can be home with her kids. What a relief it is to have someone who does the work, treats mom like an adult instead of an invalid, keeps mom busy - she chats with her, she is funny, a good spirit around her. She had her standing next to the sink and had mom washing dishes with her yesterday and helping with laundry. She had mom walking with the walker. What a relief!!!

I am going to take a nap before doing anything.

I don't have much imagination this morning. I am feeling pretty wimpy after last evening. Hot, hot and more hot, although there were some fans and air moving. Temp was still 90 degrees going home after 8 p.m. I took my tumbler of ice/water and left it with the bartender, and kept refilling and sipping, along with wine. I did not eat enough - it was too hot to eat and the water was taking up a lot of room and I felt bloated with it. There were lots of people I knew and I had fun catching up with many, and spent a proper amount of time speaking with and meeting the ones I didn't know. I was home by 8:30ish, changed into pajamas and got into bed. My body hurt then and hurts from standing so much. Today I am pampering myself with only what I want to do. Already talked to dfriend M down the street - might join her for wine/water late this afternoon.

Dh has gone to Costco.

So sorry it was a rough morning bw2, glad you have helper and can give yourself a break now.

KittyKatt, lol on Freddie at the vet. My poor ddog Millie hates the vet also, it's stressful on us to see our pets freak out there. Being in the garden sounds like a lovely way to relax today.

I had a couple of inspirational moments this morning re: travel paperwork. I have 2 large 3 inch binders that have been collecting dust for quite a while. I also have a stack of sheet protectors that paperwork usually goes into.... well, duh!! Put the travel paperwork memories into the sheet protectors and then into the binders and store these binders with the photo albums. Sheesh.

I also had a "I've had enough of this pile of stuff" moment. I started putting it all away and it was magically cleared in mere moments!

A few minutes later dh came into the house and sat at the table to make a phone call, but he pointed towards the island and said "WHAT'S THAT??" I looked at the island to see if there was something I wasn't aware of. Then he pointed again and said "Is that a counter??" LOL!! Half the island was cleared of stuff that just tends to pile up. Books always end up there, and then disappear from view. I had a brain wave regarding the books and they got moved. Now my desk needs to to tidied a bit so the piles of books don't look too bad.

I also emptied out ALL the garbage cans, including the 2 I don't empty very often. Dh has one on his side of the bed for used tissues and another beside his end of the couch. Lots of tissues in there as well. Now all of the garbage and recycling has been dealt with and I have a full bag of recyclable (burnable) paper stuff.

I also closed all the windows and turned on all the a/c because it's funny how doing work around here makes you need the a/c. I also have the music blasting. Dh is out in the garage working on a neighbour's brakes. The guy also needs an oil job and new tires.

Whew... time to either do dishes or sit and read for just a bit.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I'm feeling like just sittin' here looking at the computer I'm afraid.

Tryint to work on a.m. routine:
-clear breakfast table
-empty dishwasher
-hang laundry from the washer to dry

And done with those, although I moved dh's gift bags to the kitchen table. That allowed me to clear the outside kitchen counter. I also started the roomba. (Started to call it the Zumba since we're on a dancing theme today.)

Dh brought in Costco stuff. I'm finally eating brunch.
