Its the fourth of July and beginning of a long holiday weekend in the U.S. What are your plans? Fireworks? Staying out of the heat? Family time? Post here when you have a chance, and enjoy the day!

Hi Twins… it’s been a very stormy and wet day here with more showers. Expected later this afternoon. All events around here have been canceled.

At the moment the sun is peeking out, but I don’t expect it to last long. We’re having some kind of front move through and it’s supposed to be stormy today and tomorrow.

I didn’t have much planned except to go up to our community clubhouse and enjoy some hotdog and hamburgers, but I doubt that’s gonna happen anyway. Meanwhile, I’m doing my laundry and doing a few things around the house.

Did my journals on the deck.
Bread is raising in the oven now good day for it.
I've been thinking about it.
Might do up rolls in a bit, to freeze for future use.

RRose we are having hot weather for us. I've been inside almost all day other than when I took out some garbage and some stuff for the compost bin.

Having very few dishes to do and they are already in the dishwasher. I have been up since around 6 a.m. and either stitching or doomscrolling.

I hope LucyLee is okay. Normally there is a post from her for me to read in the morning.

Dh's bff stopped by for a quick visit. He lives an hour south of us on the shores of Lake Erie.

I've been reading all the posts on the FOBBV eagle's nest FB page. Lots of very upset people because BBV is having fireworks tonight, so the eagle lovers are mad because there are 2 juvenile eagles in the area.

Good morning

I woke up to everything outside being wet as if it rained but there wasn't enough to even reach .1 of an inch in the rain gauge. I am thankful for the moisture to reduce the chance of fires with all the fireworks being set off.

11:30pm last night the individual people setting off fireworks in our neighborhood was still happening. I don't know if they continued after that time or I slept through them. Our little town is allowing residents to shoot fireworks at our homes this year. Typically, we were SUPPOSED to go to the city park and shoot the fireworks in the parking lot. There was probably 90% compliance but fireworks were still shot off at homes without any repercussions (other than upsetting the livestock, furkids and ticking you sleeping neighbors off). The main firework show is tomorrow night when our fire dept will do a big display of fireworks at the north side of our town. I do love celebrating but am not a fan of the hours of fireworks.

Good morning! Happy 4th of July! This is one of the rare times I have my laptop on, so thought I would look in to say hello!

It has been so hot here in Virginia and we've had some thunderstorms around. In the past few weeks there have also been some tornado watches and warnings. Temps are to be in the 90*s this coming week. Last week we had temps over 100*.

Not too much news with me; just going on day to day. I guess I am mostly recovered from my two surgeries and back to a normal routine. I don't seem to have as much stamina, but I keep trying to build up. I haven't heard much from dsis lately. It's hard to get connected with her ddaughter who is taking care of dsis and has a full time job also.

My dson-T and ddil-A are on a cruise this weekend with her dfriend and her dh. The ship is the Utopia of the Seas, supposed to be the largest passenger ship built. Anyway, they will be home again on Mon or Tues. Dson retired from the Army in Oct of 2023. He had to wait until April of '24 before he could look for other employment. He did find a job as a contractor, doing the same type of work as before, at the Pentagon. He passed his first year this past April and was exempt from all the cutbacks. Ddil-A left her job as a school nurse and is now the caregiver for my dgrgrd-E when both parents are at work. It is such a joy to be able to see her often. E is now 19 months old and it is so fun to be with her.

My youngest dgrd-M is getting married in December. She is 23 now. And my youngest dgson-D, 18 years old, is getting married on July 19th. He will be leaving soon after this for his basic training in the Army. When he is done with basic and his extra schooling she will be able to join him wherever he is stationed. My oldest dgrd-K and her dh are now expecting their first baby in this Dec. This will be two great-grandchildren for me. I wish my Dh were here to enjoy all these happenings in our family!

Anyway, enough about me! I look in once in a while, but really need to get caught up with you all. I hope I can post more regularly; I miss being in touch with other people.

Here in our community people do fireworks at their homes; our family does too, but nothing illegal. There will be a parade and other doings today at one of our parks, then fireworks tomorrow evening.

RR, I think you have the low pressure system that the hurricane center has been watching - may turn into a tropical or subtropical depression and drift across Florida toward the Georgia/South Carolina coast. See where I'm heading, i.e. Hilton Head beach, so I've been watching it too. Whatever happens weather wise happens. We've been there in all kinds of weather and low pressure systems. We're not leaving until Sunday but it looks like our weather will be unsettled.

Nothing planned for today except comforting the dog this evening. We were out part of the evening last night but home before any fireworks. Honestly, I didn't hear any last night. DDog was medicated however and has a hangover this morning. (Sad face.)

Dinner out was nice - beautiful country club property on the river recently remodeled. What is now the dining room has been the scene of all kinds of parties/wedding receptions over the years, it was formerly used only for events, and a beautiful bar with big big windows overlooking the river and mountains was added. And I enjoy this couple so it was a very nice evening.

We have nothing planned for today. Ds is coming by and he and dh will take a walk together.

SUNNY, so good to see you! We miss you and Harmony still. Hoping you drop in more often. Congrats on marriages, new jobs, new babies! Good to hear about your family.

Lots of fireworks here. I think city code allows them until 11:30. Will be very loud tonight. From our home we can see them all over town.

SUNNY! Thank you for posting and letting us know how you and your family are doing. I have missed you!

I have pulled 3 types of meat from the freezer to defrost. I have a preliminary plan of what I will cook, but there is always the chance that i will decide to do something different once I start cooking. The only thing that I am fairly confident that won't change is the carbs because I don't eat them so don't feel any inspiration to change them (just being honest). Carbs will be potato bowls and cheesy pasta.

I am tackling the worst spot in the garden today. I have the ability to ignore things and this area has not been given any attention in a long time. I am hopeful with a couple days of focus it will be restored to something that will bring me joy when I look at it.

I have just finished a bite of lunch and think I'm going to get my crochet out and work on a few more Granny Squares. I have been practicing quite a lot recently. I found a couple of books on Amazon with lots of easy patterns and getting quite a collection. I'd like to put them together as a blanket for dgrd-K's baby.

Made bread / had heels for lunch yum!
Rolls are raising now. / they turned out looking like hb buns! lots of space between em in the beginning.
Did up the dishes after that.

8 a.m. BOOM! some one did one of those fire work boomers dog was NOT happy.
it's been quiet they are not supposed to do em till evening. Last nite the best view was from my
bedroom window. I tried to watch from the deck sitting but too many trees.
I watched for a while then went to sleep between 10-11.
They do not do the big display till ten tonight.
Locals do em at home late afternoon on.
Banned on the 5th b/c of fire danger.

I have patriotic music on sounds of the season comes on my cable channel.
It's a music channel / there is an app. but this comes on my cable with photos.
Helps the dog & I calm down.

Yankee Doodle and marching bands so much more to hear!

Been thinking if I had a red white and blue vest or outfit I could wear it 4 times a year.
