Well-Prepared Wednesday PWYC
Tropical storms and such are creeping back into the news and wildfires have been a concern. And floods. Are you well prepared for a disaster? I know RR is always prepared, but often we don't give it enough thought.
What preparations do you make?
And if you're in good shape for a natural disaster, what are your preparations for the month? The rest of the year?? (EEEEK! Holidays?)

Re: Well-Prepared Wednesday PWYC
I am so thankful for our area in some ways. It's not had much for disaster other than several different summers with fire all are us. That was scary to say the least. But storms are mild. I feel for some of you that could be prone to tornado and hurricane and such. Having a few picture album and stuff a bit better organized we've never right here had to be ready to leave. Town has been evacuation headquarters for surrounding rural.
This summer is a bit of a break It's been raining quite a bit and just now starting to get actually summer warm. Anything could happen yet if August and September get hot.
I have an hour and then I am heading out mom. Dad wants to go to the city for a couple things. Told him I would come when dh leaves. Lots I can do there i have new curtains to put up and I should clean the window and such behind them while I do it. Throw the old ones in a gentle cycle. If they fail apart fine but they're still pretty if they come out good. For someone else
. I should clean a spot on the rug. And lots of garden work to do. Depends on mom. Will she be up or in bed. I could bring her here but I don't know what to do with her here all day she would want to go home. We'll see.

Yes, an important topic, Twins'. Thinking ahead, considering the "what ifs".
Last year, hurricane season was terrible here. Hoping nothing so devastating happens this year. For us, the flooding aftermath brought houses down the river. Ds dept had such a bad time, having to forbid firefighters from helping with boats because they could have lost their own lives. Dd26, in the interim, has gained a coworker who lost her small business and moved to find work and start over. I remember preparations for the roads to be out for a time, gathering in the necessities, heeding warnings to stay home. Many fundraisers, volunteering, and some continue.
Our sleep was disturbed because Tobias was sick in the night. He didn't actually vomit, but scared us. HRH just stayed up, but I was able to get back to sleep, starting my day later than planned.
Need to make out a grocery list next and plan some meals.
Enjoy putting up new curtains for your parents, Lauralind. I hope they look pretty.

Re: Well-Prepared Wednesday PWYC
We get tornados here too, bw2. We're probably not well enough prepared for that honestly.
I'm at the dealership with my car for servicing. Managed to walk dog, eat breakfast, do a lot of a.m. routine and get here by nine a.m. Just got trade-in offer on my car, funny because I walked over and looked at the smaller Hondas when I got here. I don't think I'm ready to trade in yet but would prefer something smaller.
Today I must work on cemetery and HOA accounting. Dh is playing golf this afternoon so house will be quiet. Dinner is swordfish, corn on cob, and green beans or cut celery-broccoli-carrots with hummus or ranch for dipping.
Bw2, give him the stink-eye and change the conversation!
Harriet, nothing gets one moving like a sick cat or dog in the middle of the night!
Lauralind, would be great to get your mom outside a bit and work outside if you're able. We were so wet for so long and now the heat and humidity. I hope you and your mom have a good day.

She might come for a walk to the green for a bit maybe she'll sit and watch something but then she wanders off back inside. Maybe? I'll see. I've about given up on the inside of the greenhouse cause I just didn't have time to get the chickweed out.

Hi!
We had planned on going for a drive to look at recliners and stop at the store |I went to last week. Instead dh stayed on his computer for a long time and now he' is out weeding the garden. He doesn't want to go anywhere...
Just heard the humidex is 38C, so it "feels like" 106F. I've been outside. It feels too hot.
There are a couple of very dark clouds overhead. I hope it rains at some point this afternoon.

Re: Well-Prepared Wednesday PWYC
Expensive trip for car servicing, but considering I haven't done anything to my car since last October I can deal with it. I don't drive it that much, except for trip out of town. Could be close to another hour. I'm playing genealogy. It's nice to have some time that's not at home with things calling out to be done.
It's already "feels like" 95 out today. Sometime soon I need to trim up azaleas (yes, I know it's late to do so, and that I'm cutting off flowers for the fall). And need to clean on screened porch next week, hoping for cooler weather for that. Concrete floor needs cleaning. I can get dcleaning lady to dust and vacuum the rug.
Dh slept badly last night and was up in the night. I was surprised to find him in bed this a.m. when I woke up. He's always up before I am. Maybe he's trying to get to a retirement frame of mind.

Re: Well-Prepared Wednesday PWYC
Morning y’all…
Went to class and then coffee with the girls.
Doing more laundry today because I have time
Want to color my hair
Didn’t sleep well last night a finally got up at 3:30am to read. I’m tired so I may take a nap.
I am prepared for storms:
4casez of bottled water 28 in each case
8 battery operated lanterns
Lots of batteries
Emergency first aid kit
Transistor radio
Plenty of cash on hand
Matches and candles
15 cans of soup
6 cans of chicken
10 cans of tuna
6 packages of powdered Gatorade 10 individual packets
Need to check my emergency cabinet to see what else is there
A friend of mine has several battery operated fans so I plan to buy two
A list for last minute items like meds and such.
I fill up my car with gas early when a storm start to form and have 2 5 gallon gas containers when I fill up my car
I’m getting tired at the moment so I think I’m going to take a nap….
