Re: Williamina Fleming Friday @ TDD - C&C
Williamina Paton Stevens Fleming (15 May 1857 – 21 May 1911) was a pioneering Scottish astronomer, who made significant contributions to the field despite facing gender biases. She was a single mother hired by the director of the Harvard College Observatory to help in the photographic classification of stellar spectra. She helped develop a common designation system for stars and cataloged more than ten thousand stars, 59 gaseous nebulae, over 310 variable stars, and 10 novae and other astronomical phenomena. Among several career achievements that advanced astronomy, Fleming is noted for her discovery of the Horsehead Nebula in 1888. Fleming's work has had a lasting impact on our understanding of the universe.

Happy Friday!
All I can say is that this week is an awfully busy one, but it too shall pass! Yesterday, I got groceries, worked from home, and after work I took all kids shopping for whatever they were missing for the scout trip. Shopping with 12yold girls is a nightmare! They have very strong opinions about what they want to wear and just can't accept that a 2 week stay at a camp in the woods with no electricity and no running water is not the right place for a fashion statement - or taking their carefully selected best attire!
Anyway, today I need to handle laundry and get them all to pack and spiff up their rooms. And if I can somehow spiff up downstairs, which has gotten REALLY bad, that would be nice too!
TaDas
- up and attem
- flipped overnight load to dryer
- started load of colors
- breakfast and coffee
- internet time
ToDos
- morning routine
- 45 on laundry
- 30 on downstairs
and then probably rinse and repeat!

Re: Williamina Fleming Friday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for a very interesting start.I had never heard of Williamina Fleming before, so energy day really is a school day.
You sound as if you've had a very challenging week, but the end is in sight. When do the DKids leave for camp?
L.Ann, yesterday was a very busy and fulfilled day. I can understand the desire to sleep for a week!
Helian, carrot cake definitely counts as a vegetable -think of all those carrots!
WTG getting your clothes airer properly assembled, Dogged!
Today is a free day for me, so I need to use it wisely and not let the day get away from me. We have a fine, cool start, so I want to spend some time in my garden. Some housework would be good, as would a walk, and maybe I can also tackle some of those outstanding "little jobs"?

Re: Williamina Fleming Friday @ TDD - C&C
I posted in the wrong thread. I think that I do need to head back to bed, LOL:
Hi, all. Thanks for starting us off, trissie, and for the interesting information. WTG on surviving the shopping trip.
Thanks, Kittykatt. As a bonus, I found a place to hang that balcony clothes dryer in the apartment, which gives me extra drying space all year round. I'm happy that I brought it back inside, as we have had rain all night since. I'm sure that the trees will be happy.
A free day to work on whatever you like, Kittykatt. Enjoy!
I fell asleep around ten last night, and am now up to feed Germane and get a snack for myself before I head back.
I haven't heard from Bama, helia. I have a vague idea that she was going to visit her ddaughters.
WTG on getting to the work that you have been trying to work on, and on the successful dinner.
L.Ann, you bring back happy memories. When kitkat used to talk about spin class, I literally thought that it was a room full of spinning wheels and yarn. I was so surprised to find out that it was an exercise class, LOL.
You must be looking forward to seeing your dgs, but a little sad to see your dgd go home.
Friday
Cleaned up after Germane
Snack and probiotic for Germane
Fresh kibble for Germane
Had half a piece of naan bread with Boursin
Redistributed laundry to dry better now that I have taken the sheets off of the clotheslines and put them on the bed.
Another snack for Germane
Filled the cookie jar
Filled the water bottles and put them in the fridge
Put away dry dishes
And on that note, I think that I will head back to bed. See you later!
Do you come back and have a week with fewer dkids after helping to set up the camp, trissie?

Re: Williamina Fleming Friday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning L.Ann and Dogged!
Enjoy the art garden, L.Ann.
Dogged, I'm not sure how many hours behind the UK you are, but I think it's probably *very* early morning?
Extra drying space all year round will be a real bonus .
WTG with the kitchen, Trissie!
It's a beautiful day, warm (24 C) and sunny, so really perfect weather. I've been out in my garden, and so far have sprayed the roses in the front garden which has been in the shade, fed the pot there and tidied up. I've also trimmed a few bits on the hedge in the back garden, and shown Dneighbour R round the garden. It's getting hot to work in the sun, but I think I'll try and cut the grass before I come inside for a few hours during the heat of the day. Later on when it's cooled down a bit, I need to spray the rest of the roses and feed the remaining pots. But for now, Freddie is very happy on my lap!
