Write it down Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

When you're journaling, making a list, or jotting down an appointment, your thoughts and things to remember are saved in paper or digital form. Think of all those old deeds I was looking at yesterday, how 225 years later I have a record of that deed, and several before it, going back to 1762, that record land and reflect family relationships.

Anyway, planner talk here would be great today too!

bw2, how are things at your house? I hope you're making use of the helpers, and that things with dds and dh are calm. You've had so much going on. And hoping you're getting outside to garden and that you're feeling great too.

Thanks for the wonderful start to our Wednesday Twins' Mom!!

I'm trying to eliminate excess paper in this house. I have a drawer beside my right knee that has paper supplies in it. I never use any of it. Same with all those different envelopes. I know I'm going to a thrift store in the next week, so it's time to donate some, if not all, of it. The keyboard length pad of a weekly reminder has been great for me. I know that tomorrow is ALL the garbage/compost and recycling out to the road, just with a quick glance down. All 3 calendars have been unused for months. Do I really need to list all the housework I did? I don't go back and check.

I also refuse to keep a journal ever since I read my dads years and years of journals. He only felt that men's birthdays were worth mentioning. He never wrote my ex's name in all the years he kept journals, nor was my first husband ever mentioned. I was mentioned twice and my dd maybe once. His golf scores were more important to him. I'm sure my dd will find stuff online if she knows where to look. (Here)

Dh's doctor called at the end of his day yesterday to talk to dh about his new insulin that he is supposed to take 3 times a day, 15 minutes before every meal. Dh has only done that for 2 meals in the past week. He wants dh to eat lots of proteins. I spent last night trying to figure out what to add to our meals.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning!

Twins - Thank you for the start and the example of how important it can be to capture in writing what is happening.

I have daily journal pages captured in Onenote going back over a decade. They are organized by date so I can see what I was doing on this day each year. When I read July 30, 2013 journal page, it reminded me of something similar to what ((((Blessedw2))) is going through. My DMom was loved by everyone, but when no one else was around she wasn't very nice to me and would accuse me of outrageous things. On that day I wrote in my journal about recording our conversation. Later I played the conversation for DMom in hopes that she would realize how she was talking to me. She listened to the recording but denied that she said those things to me.
Looking back, I can see how difficult those times were, but we got through them. It made me a better person and more aware of how our words to others matter.

Today is the first day I've felt like getting back to "normal" is on the agenda. I got out chicken breasts for our supper - done with eating out of refrigerator, lol. And dh put all the sweets into the refrigerator. I need to inventory what we have and see what we can let go, either trash or give away. Meant to take desserts to temple but we've made such a dent in them I don't know that there's enough.

Changing gears, I signed up for a virtual genealogy course the week of 26 January.

Some (selected, no all inclusive) OMM:
-email caterer about a stainless tub that I think they packed with their stuff - and I have several of their trays. Can take care of that tomorrow when I workout by going by their place.
-fill meds containers for week
-water outside plants on porches (sprinkler waters tomatoes and zinnias, we've gotten short periods of rain the last two days too, but that doesn't help the plants on the front porch.)
-carried forward list from last week (first time I've looked at that!)
-better eating
-sentinel for the dog
-cemetery year end f/s to board
-Items to sell on Facebook market or Facebook, in garage, also Stampin up
-donation of stamping supplies
-Reschedule appointments - we'll be away next week, and our return may run into a dermatologist appt the week after
-Sleep doc appointment re: Medicare
-repot plants, Aloe and peace lily
-possibly make arrangements to mail Barbour jacket for refurbishing

I vaguely remember those days LadyM. My strongest memory of my mother's dementia denial was when I realized she wasn't taking her meds because they were still in the meds box, and dbro had her meds put away otherwise. She insisted and insisted that she had taken them although there was clear evidence that she hadn't. She couldn't process or reconcile that she hadn't taken them because she "knew" she always did.

Cathy, diabetic care is so important. We eat a lot of grilled foods and simple vegetables, no pasta, only keto bread. Dh takes oral meds, sometimes not as religiously as he should. How is the monitor working out?

Nancy I'm glad you're getting your refills for journals. I had ordered a refill and it was backordered for over a month, but I received it Monday, so I have 300 pages now to fill up. I use the ring bound planner so I take out each month and add the next. Five thousand steps by 7 a.m.! WOW!

It's interesting that Write-It-Down discussion today also includes thoughts on things that are not written down. It makes me think of myself. I have things I don't write down - worth sorting out the whys on that for me. Ya'll would be amused at the info I do jot down in planner, for instance, such as weight in code, lol, and other health stuff. Yet I avoid facing some of the reasons that there are long standing omissions of some people's names, for instance, even though on my mind. I may record a conversation with someone, but not record why I felt down about the reason for the conversation, etc. I don't write down worry.

lucylee, when HRH was a little boy, he was bitten in his own yard by a monkey that was a family member's pet. Not always a predictable pet.

Congratulations to lucylee's dgd's team on a perfect season.

Today a construction guy recommended by dbil and dsisil, both HRH's siblings, will come look at our chimney/fireplace/roof. He has a high reputation and certainly doesn't need the work. We think the only reason he's willing to come is all the work he's been given by family, though. Still no actual chimney pro has been discovered. It's good he's worked for dbil because it's all been on the old-but-new-to-him house, which is a near twin of ours. (Dbil and his wife decided to scale down to a house that needed a lot of work because they liked the place it was located.) It's good he's worked for dsisil because she is the most difficult person to please, super picky, lol.

If I like him, I may casually mention that I wonder if a dishwasher could be fitted into my kitchen.. ..

I went back to May journal of what I ate. I am struggling now but did well in May so what has changed? I quickly saw the difference when i compared the two months of food journals (cronometer).

I've called the medical equipment place about getting a new cpap mask for DH. The prescription has expired so they are reaching out to our family doctor to get a new one. Medicare will pay for a new mask every 90 days so I have that reminder in SHE cards. We have learned not to wait until DH mask breaks in the middle of the night before getting a new mask. We try to keep a new mask on hand so he can easily switch them out when needed.

DH is doing so well mentally the last few days. This is a sweet moment that I want to appreciate and treasure.

DH has been a type 2 diabetic for many years but has never taken insulin. We have no clue how to manage that medication. DH takes one shot a week (Ozempic) and one pill a day (Jardiance) and that keeps his A1C good (5.4). DH does not eat well. (IMHO) He has a sweet tooth and eats cookies/ice cream/etc almost every day. He eats carbs almost every meal. I usually keep several types of protein ready to eat and he will eat it once or twice a day. I decided a long time ago to not be the food police. I eat my way and DH eats his way......and then there is the teens way of eating. It would be a lot easier if we all ate the same way, but that isn't happening. No one is willing to give up or change their way of eating.
