Like myself, LucyLee also has a stack of paper with organizational inspiration.
"Being organized does not mean the same as being neat. Being organized means having a system~one that enables you to find what you want when you need it. " Sonia Schlenger
"Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it's not all mixed up." Christopher Robin (A. A. Milne)
"Being organized is not an end in itself~it is a vehicle to take you from where you are to where you want to be." Stephanie Winston

Re: Motivational Monday
Good morning, everyone!
My motivating factor right now is that it's back-to-school day here: DC's classes resume today, and the school DD works at goes back. I'd like to be ready to leave in about :15. Ordinarily we'd leave at half past, and even that gives a little padding, but the last I looked, the car was at a quarter tank. I don't think we've gone much of anywhere since then except the mile and a half round trip to church, but I'd like some extra time to stop at the gas station along the way if I need to.
DC is watching a play-through on YouTube of the weirdest game. It's called IKEELYA. You are furnishing a house with IKEA-like furniture, but you earn the money to do it by being a hit man.
Meanwhile, the character has an interior monologue about how much they hate the killing and would rather be decorating. Yay, they have finished breakfast and are no longer watching the play-through. They are getting ready to go to class, so I should be getting ready to take them. Aaaand I just remembered that they redyed the colored part of their hair this morning and need to rinse it out before they go and have to finish dressing in what they are actually going to wear. So I'm going to be twiddling for a bit.
Was reading about all the room reorganization when CUOPing. My sun room/playroom fits into that. I was hoping we'd have it done by the end of the summer, but I wasn't good enough at enforcing the daily work on it. DC's schedule is such that we should be able to continue our time on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. (I really need to have both kids working on it, because they need to make joint decisions.) The other days, I suppose I can work on the things I can do alone. I've got files I need to sort through and consolidate so I have room on that shelf for the CDs. I really need to take my old scrapbooking supplies to my friend who actually does scrapbooking -- I tried it for a while and failed at it; I was able to use some of the stuff when I was working on the library bulletin boards at the grade school. But it's been years since I touched it. Along the same lines, I need to dig out my old Cricut machine so I can give it to the thrift store along with its supplies. It's ancient, but somebody may be able to make use of it. And I need to wash up the other stuff we are giving away, box it, and actually get it out of the house. Oh, and there are a couple of children's stools with storage that we can't really use -- would love to put Lego in them, but they have drainage holes in the bottom that make it unsuitable. I need to clean them up and offer them to the neighborhood.
But right now, I need to light a fire under DC! Wishing a great day to Cathy and all who come after!

Re: Motivational Monday
Morning Y'all...
Until P&P I was never organized, but by using their system I am.
Everything has a home and I make sure when I take something out, I put it back where it belongs. This morning Sweetie need something to drain the water out of my large outside pot and I was able to find and give what he needed right away. Once he finished, I put them back in their home.
Since I've taken over paying our monthly bills, I set up a system that I used in the past. I don't use computer or phone calendars, but am much more comfortable with a paper one. It's the way I set things up and used years ago because that's what works for me,
I do not get paperless bills. A lot of this comes from working in an accounting office for so many years and again it works for me.
I didn't sleep very well last night and was up from 1:30-5:00. Finally fell asleep and did not go to my exercise class. However I still have my drumming class in a while so I am ready for that. Have a few errands to run on the way home so that's about all
My home is in good shape. With only two people living here and with the help of Einstein and my daily routines and picking up my footprints, it doesn't take much to keep my home clean. Course I'm not living with kids, so that makes a huge difference. However when I had herds of kids coming in and out of my house it was a bit different, but I did have rules and my son and friends were good at doing all that I requested. There are times when I miss those days.
Off to start my day... Waving to y'all

Re: Motivational Monday
Just do it! is my motto for mojo today!
I stripped the bed before our walk.
Clean sheets are going now, others are washing.
Saw two young deer that came right up to us had to shoo them away with my walking stick.
That was some thing new people have been feeding them veg. etc.
Lovely sunrise got you vids. of that!
Slill looking for the key it's just one I do have a spare.
The blessing of it is I look for a while and then do a task I'd been putting off and that feels more like success!
Got out fall decor tote.
Waving.

Did some kitchen stuff & sheets & sorted out some more items from the former sewing zone.
Some Happy news the air quality is better here this morning. So that helps.

Re: Motivational Monday
I have these two signs displayed where I can see them several times a day. What quotes or notes make you just want to get up and do something?
Let's GO! We're burning daylight.
We can do it.
I've been up and active for nearly five hours, and it's been a great start to the day.
Using the hip pad over the past few days has been a fantastic motivator and has really helped clear my thoughts. It's working well to instantly capture OMM ideas and thoughts instead of letting them slip away.
The weather has cooled down from dangerous heat index levels, so I no longer need to keep a close eye on DH. He can now enjoy staying outside as much as he likes.
DS17 was eager to join the working cattle action today, so he pushed himself to finish his homeschool assignments. He got a head start last night and wrapped up by 9 a.m. I just have one more paper to grade, and then I can check off that category of tasks for the day.

Re: Motivational Monday
I think that I appear organized to to others, but on the inside, it's a mess of stuff I can't find and can't remember. My upstairs room is an example - I pull out stuff to let go but then stall on how to get rid of it. So today I'm shipping the three ink pads I sold yesterday. Dh has puttered around this a.m. and emptied the dishwasher for me. He's gone to get a hair cut and I think he's getting groceries. A lot of things went onto the list while he was cooking yesterday. More on that. Then he's bowling and going fishing with a friend. I think he's going to be bored to tears with fishing but it's social - he likes this guy, who has a wife a lot like me. So they both get to socialize, lol.
Yesterday's Big Green Egg beer can chicken extravaganza was interesting. Dh went to store and got two chickens, too many veggies for skewers, and corn on the cob to grill. Then he needed to go back for another ingredient. I let him follow the recipe and figure it out. He did the rub for the chicken (much asking where is this or that) and he did the veggies on skewers. I took care of corn on the cob and did berries for dessert. Dneighbor came over around five, they started the charcoal in smoker and then dneighbor guy put up the TV on our screened porch for dh. (This is a TV that came from dh's office, we'll try it on the porch, maybe he'll watch out there some when weather is nice?) They had said dinner would be around six. His wife came, and another neighbor whose dh is out of town. So it took until nearly eight p.m. to get dinner ready, and the three women sat and let them do it all. I pretty much kept my mouth shut about the delay, wish I had known and I would have put out snacks because I was feeling peckish by then. So it was 9:30ish before we were all done. A very nice evening that went later than expected and I was tired....
So it's Monday morning still and that's always a get it together time. My workout today is at three and I'll drop the package at the P.O. while out.

Re: Motivational Monday
It is such a relief and joy to see DH doing normal things. He drove to local businesses and visiting with lifelong friends. He is thinking clearly without noticeable memory loss.
The VFW folks just left. I reached out to them this morning about joining their flag program. They responded quickly, and now we have a 3'x5' flag proudly flying in our front yard.
DS17 has decided he wants to purchase cattle. Let the fun begin.
Texting with DGS18. He is safe and sent me a video from his window showing the emergency response. (University of Arkansas has active shooter)

Re: Motivational Monday
LadyM what is VFW?
I have dropped off various things at various locations. Food Bank, Thrift Store, the store I go to on Fridays got a pile of knitting magazines that were donated to our Monday morning knitting group. Nobody actually knits at the Monday morning group. One lady crochets and 2 of us cross stitch. I also donated 3 bags of books to the senior's center. Plus I remembered to stop and buy a can of cream of mushroom soup for the casserole I'm making for supper. (Salmon with pasta shells using the recipe for tuna casserole that has elbow macaroni.)
Now my trunk is empty other than reusable bags and my snow brush.

Re: Motivational Monday
Good afternoon! DD has been dropped off at work (she probably could have walked but had a lot of things to carry), and DC has not yet texted to be picked up from school.
What sort of action is happening with the cattle, LadyM? Ah, a cattle auction. Darn typos — or maybe it’s my eyes. How horrible about the shooting!
I hope fishing gives you and the other guy’s wife some much needed peace, Twins!
Cathy, VFW is a veterans’ organization, the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
I am working on those files. In this case, it’s actually a very large binder full of DC’s first grade papers. It has become clear that I 1) saved too many papers, and 2) used way too many page protectors to hold them. It would appear that every day, I put at least some of the papers that were sent home into a page protector and then into the binder. And it’s more likely that it’s all rather than some, by the sheer number of them. You figure, 180 days in a school year, so 180 page protectors, and 1-5 pages in each. That’s a lot of paper!
I should probably just pitch it all. There’s very little worth keeping; most of it is worksheets rather than anything original. But, being me, I can’t help but look through them all and still save some. Not too much to my mind, it will all fit nicely in a folder. On the other hand, when we were cleaning out my in-laws’ house, and DH and his siblings came across some school papers their mother had saved, they had a quick look-through, thought they were interesting, and promptly pitched them. Nevertheless, I am making this folder.
It has finally occurred to me at this point that I should take the papers out and leave the page protectors in the binder. It takes a little more time to get the papers out of the binder, but much less than it will to put the loose protectors back in the binder. Ah, well, I’ve subjected you to enough of my running commentary. I’ll leave you all be for a while.
