Re: Fuji Friday @ TDD - C&C
Mount Fuji[a] (富士山・富士の山, Fujisan, Fuji no Yama) is an active stratovolcano located on the Japanese island of Honshu, with a summit elevation of 3,776.24 m (12,389 ft 3 in). It is the highest mountain in Japan, the second-highest volcano on any Asian island (after Mount Kerinci on the Indonesian island of Sumatra), and seventh-highest peak of an island on Earth.
Mount Fuji last erupted from 1707 to 1708. It is located about 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Tokyo, from where it is visible on clear days. Its exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is covered in snow for about five months of the year, is a Japanese cultural icon and is frequently depicted in art and photography, as well as visited by sightseers, hikers, and mountain climbers.
Mount Fuji is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" (三霊山, Sanreizan) along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku. It is a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and one of Japan's Historic Sites. It was added to the World Heritage List as a Cultural Site on June 22, 2013. According to UNESCO, Mount Fuji has "inspired artists and poets and been the object of pilgrimage for centuries". UNESCO recognizes 25 sites of cultural interest within the Mount Fuji locality. These 25 locations include Mount Fuji and the Shinto shrine, Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha.
As of December 2002, the volcano is classified as active with a low risk of eruption. The last recorded eruption was the Hōei eruption which started on December 16, 1707 (Hōei 4, 23rd day of the 11th month), and ended about January 1, 1708 (Hōei 4, 9th day of the 12th month). The eruption formed a new crater and a second peak, named Mount Hōei, halfway down its southeastern side. Fuji spewed cinders and ash which simulated rainfall in Izu, Kai, Sagami, and Musashi. Since then, there have been no signs of an eruption. On the evening of March 15, 2011, however, there was a magnitude 6.2 earthquake at shallow depth a few kilometres from Mount Fuji on its southern side.

Happy Friday!
I wonder how helia and her mom are doing? They are both in my thoughts and prayers!
Working from home, and I need to get groceries before I start on payroll stuff, so that's a priority. Downstairs needs a bit of wet love (mopping and bathroom cleaning), but overall it's not bad. The roomba effect is kicking in big after two weeks of running it every night!
DH wants to spend the weekend at the cottage, only he hasn't told me so far if it will be a one day trip or both days. I want to get some shopping done for the sales week (it's a bi-annual event organized by a women's lifestyle magazine and there's coupons for store with clothes, cosmetics, electronics etc - and I really could use a new winter coat and a couple cardigans), but that has to wait till the evening. I also really, really want three new theme cookbooks (50% off this weekend), but don't know if I can justify that considering how many I already have

Re: Fuji Friday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for an interesting account of Mt Fuji. I hope you manage to get your shopping done today!
Thinking of Helia and her family at this difficult and sad time.
Today is my last free Friday for some time, so I need to make it count. I have a wet weather plan and a dry weather plan, and I'm waiting g to see what happens weather-wise. I'm hoping it's going to be one of those days where it's very definitely one or the other, and not a little drizzle followed by a tantalising had hour of dry weather, followed by rain again!
DH is WFH today, and has already had to evict Matilda from the office, so he could safely evict a wasp that had found its way in.
Top of my list for today is to email across pictures of Freddie to the vet, hopefully giving a good view of his eye that has a small cluster if dead skin cells that we are monitoring. So far, there's nothing to worry about, but this gives a record for his file, so we can see how / if it's grown or changed over the years, especially as he is so uncooperative and won't let anyone examine it when he's awake!
Is that a promise or a threat, Dogged?

Re: Fuji Friday @ TDD - C&C
Today has so far been mostly blue skies, with just the odd few spots of rain. So I've managed my weekly list of garden jobs. Everything in is very wet though from overnight rain, so I've contented myself with just taking off a few pieces that very obviously need to be pruned on the climbing rose . I'm going to see if I can plant some pansies in pots before lunch. I'll open up the garage, so if we get a sharp shower I can retreat in there.

Re: Fuji Friday @ TDD - C&C
Thank you trissie! I hope you can get your new coat this evening. I'm on the fence about needing a new winter coat. My current one is quite old.
Glad you got to work in your garden, Kitty.
WTG on the walk, L Ann. I need to get a covid shot eventually too.
I have not heard word on my mom, so I assume she is still with us. I'll go sit with her this afternoon. Honestly, this part is dragging on and is almost torture. I'm exhausted, emotionally wrung out, and I'm ready for it to be over -- but also trying to be faithful to her during this time. She looks awful. I'm not sleeping well. As a (maybe) perk, I'm losing weight without really trying. . . but I'll just gain it back.
BUT today is sunny with a forecast high of 81*F!
I'm planning to teach today. It was really life-giving to me when I taught on Monday.
Next:
- payroll: finish prep (slides + a handout)
- some qt
- back exercises
Later:
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- make a lunch
- make bed
- reclaim kitchen
- gather everything and otd by 10:30 (parking lot at school is being fixed
we all need to find parking elsewhere)
- 11-1 payroll: teach IW D1
- Go sit with my mom
- knitting progress
- eat lunch - either a lunch I bring to payroll or go home
- walk
- 1 lol? w d f pa
- dinner date with dh
- other things?
- duolingo?
- update health apps?

helia, this is certainly not a good way to lose weight! I totally get the emotional cost of things being in the limbo. Be kind to yourself and do extra little things to keep your spirits up!
L.Ann, when are you leaving for the beach? Next Friday?
kittykatt, what will be happening starting next Friday?
Done with work for the day. It's a grey day, threatening with rain - I had to take a ten minute nap because I was wiped out by the dropping atmospherical pressure. But I am back in business!
