Autumnal Monday 2025

[Harriet]

It's the first day of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

It's Monday, the beginning of a week with so many possibilities.

Is there anything about Autumn that sparks you to more positivity or is encouraging to you?
There's a crispness in the air, they say.
Temps are modulating, maybe allowing for more ambitious activities.
Is it a favorite time of year for you, or does it remind that one is upcoming?

Thinking of Nancy today, awaiting news about her dgd's surgery.

I'm feeling kinda blessedw2-like and poetic this morning.
Here's a first stanza for us.


To Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,

Good morning, Harriet and all who follow!

Temperatures are somewhat moderating here; after a few days of highs in the 80s, we will only be in the 70s for the foreseeable future; next week, the lows are supposed to dip into the 50s, but I think my DH will accomplish his goal of not starting up the furnace until October pretty easily.

Dentist appointment today to look at that poor tooth. I’m expecting a referral to the oral surgeon. Well, we shall see. I will ask the dentist’s opinion on implant/bridgework/nothing at all. I was going to have to take DC to class early, but DH is home after having worked yesterday, so he will be able to take them.

Nevertheless, I should get moving — first to make sure DC is up and about; they have a tendency to go back to bed. Then a quick brush, and then get ready to go. Have a great day, everybody!

Good morning

I'm ready to say farewell to the summer heat and embrace the autumn season. We've got just two more days of temperatures in the 90s (today and tomorrow), and then they'll cool down into the 80s. I’ve been planting something in the garden every day to take advantage of the warm temperatures and help the seedlings sprout. Once the cool-weather plants get past the sprouting phase, they should thrive in the cooler temperatures. I can't remember all the cool weather seeds that are sprouting in the garden but some of them are - radish, pak choi, peas, beets, cabbage, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, and swiss chard.

DD14 was successfully dropped off at school after a conversation about happiness and whether it is a choice. There have been some updates to her hair-washing routine. Since DD49 hasn't been available, I gave DD14 four options to get it done. Yesterday, I washed her long hair in the kitchen sink, and it turned out better than I expected.

Homeschool is underway.

I’m working on the SHE cards by selecting three and committing myself to doing them with a quick 1-2-3 GO!

autumn I am ready

hi everyone.

I'm up had to clean up after ddoggo in two spots sigh.
I am just glad I found them.
She is outside now.
Got yt vids. scheduled for the week.
Glad I got my fall decor items up yesterday afternoon and put out front.
Enjoyed my Sun. nite shows then showered before bed.

Dishes & counter spiff await.
Dgd is in surgery now doubt it will be done before afternoon.
I've done dishes and kit. spiff.
Washed my hair.

CI #1 on dgd's surgery was good.
Prayer walk done.
C!#2 bench mark was successful also.

I came across this 3 x 5 and I think I will use it as well for seasons. (from tide and times who uses sidetracked home executives 3 x 5)

So glad Harriet got here early with the Autumn opening, and I loved the poem too! I don't know that I would have managed.

Dh has gone out to run an errand and he's supposed to be getting groceries too. Some ta-das for me:
-sliced brownies, arranged on tray for temple, with a few left for us to put out tomorrow (and one left for dh, and some icing when he gets back)
-bread maker going with challah
-fish thawing for gefilte fish
-found the roomba didn't charge last time (operator error) so it's charging. When done I'll start it on the screened porch. Glad I checked it early.

Update, dh called, his errand took longer than expected, so he's going to bowling, then to grocery. Reminded him that dessert needs to get to temple too and he says it can go when we go to services tonight. (Yes, it can, but I'd rather not.)

Next up is shaping the challah to rise again, then baking. And while it's still in the bread maker, starting prep for gefilte fish.

we have had super gnats living here - all the food is away so they don't have - and I don't get why they are here - I was using vinegar and dawn but they grew too many - I bought the peppermint gnat killer and it is overwhelming in smell. lots of coughing happening here. lol - hoping the gnat population disappears

sink not as shining but clean
kitchen table cleaned
animals fed.
I had breakfast
vacuumed kitchen and front hall.
put away in kitchen
and a little in family room
