Anne Olivia Floyd (July 2, 1826 – December 8, 1905) was a Confederate spy during the American Civil War, noted as a blockade runner.
Anne Olivia Floyd, known as Olivia, was the daughter of David I. and Sarah (Semmes) Floyd. Her mother inherited an interest in the property of Rose Hill near Port Tobacco, Maryland, about 1843, and Olivia lived there with her family. She never married.
During the American Civil War, Olivia Floyd became a spy and blockade runner for the Confederacy. She made numerous runs behind the lines between Washington, D.C., and the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia, and was said to have outwitted a company of Union soldiers. She conveyed papers, money and clothing from prisons and prisoners through the lines, and at one time, was holding $80,000 at Rose Hill to accomplish Confederate purposes. During the war, Union officials swore out an arrest warrant for her capture.

Never got here yesterday, because I stayed in the city, went for a massage, a dinner with friends and then theatre - a dystopian black comedy by a Czech author that I (and so of course you too) have never heard of 
It's nice hanging with my old highschool mates, we have this little group of about 12 people and we generally pick something to see and those who can/are interested in the subject, go as a group.
Anyway, it means I missed my Thursday grocery run, so I need to be poof and do it today!

Good morning, Trissie , and thank you for starting us off. I'm glad you had a nice time with your friend last night, even if it does mean the grocery run is waiting for you today. 
Dogged, that all sounds lovely! And definitely the way a "lady of retirement" should be acting.
I was up at 0 dark 00 this morning, to take the duvet for its annual trip to the launderette. Fortunately it's just a short walk from the church, so l've parked in the churchyard. So far, while watching the machine going round, I've managed to email the vet to order food and meds for Freddie and Matilda, so that's a very good idea of my time. I wanted to get that done before anyone else arrived, as I needed to concentrate. I can also start writing my report for the CMA - I have just under 4 weeks before the closing date. If I just *start* and get some random thoughts written down, I can organise everything later on. Oh, and I found out late late night that another member of our congregation passed away this week. AW was in her 90s and had had dementia. (Unlike many others with this condition, however, she was quite happy and cheerful in her own little world, and managed at home with carers going in, and her family regularly checking on her, until the last few months when even with all the support it was no longer safe for her at home and had to go into a care home.) So that will be another .funeral at the church (unless her family make other arrangements).
Today is cloudy, dry and mild, so I'm planning some gardening when I get home. This evening is the church harvest bring and share supper, so I need to box my cake for that. And I need to make sure that DH has every laid out for tomorrow (he's having a day on the steam railway tomorrow and has an early start). Ideally, I should fold laundry and do the delicate /wool wash, but that can be moved to tomorrow if necessary.

That sounded like a lovely concert, Doggedly! French horns are hard to play well (I know this from years of kids in school bands) but so hauntingly beautiful when they are. You're fine about technology - probably better than me (that's not saying much 
) as that was your job for a while - right? The only reason I know how the races work is because of my experiences with them. The apps will estimate where the person you're tracking is on the route based on their pace at the last checkpoint. That part isn't real time but the checkpoints are.

I'm up at O-dark-thirty. LOL! I remember decaf used to say that. I haven't seen her here for a long time; I hope all is well with her. I enjoyed her sense of humor and hearing about her days. It turns out that MM CAN meet me for coffee at 9:30 this morning, so I need to get some payroll prep done beforehand
getting up earlier. This class is new to me, so I'm not sure how much prep time I really need, and I didn't do any payroll last night. I did knit, however!
Yesterday, besides a long walk + working out with my trainer, I texted LO and JK. In the process, I texted SS and while I don't yet have a coffee date on the calendar with LO and JK, I do have a coffee date on the calendar with SS. LOL! I called the window washing company dh wants to try -- left a message. I also cleared off the cedar chest! Our MBR looks better. And I made a tasty homemade meal which dh and I ate together.
Today, I will meet MM for coffee 9:30 - 11-ish, finish prep for class, teach 1:30 - 3:30, do 1 GGT task while at the school, walk, work on items on the same list I've been posting for about 2 weeks now. This includes memorial thank yous, washing mom's stuff, emailing ML. Maybe I'll hear back from the window washers; I left a message yesterday. Then, we have dinner reservations for 4 with the Rs at 7 pm. That should be fun!

helia, I am not sure I liked the play. It was a bit too cringe for me, but more in "I can totally imagine how we'd get there". And there was a violent death of a baby (though that was only hinted and you had to deduce from clues that that's what happened), which is a trigger for me. It's just one of the things that would have been better four or fives year ago when it would have still been absurd fiction. Russian invasion to Ukraine and US development have taught us that human rights are neíther universally accepted, or respected. But I really, really enjoyed the theatre (it's a tiny "club theatre" with about 30 seats where the actors also act as hosts and sell you drinks before and after the show) and the actors were superb. And of course, so was my company (there were three of us this time).
what cake did you make for the harvest fest, kittykatt?
Done with work for the week. I didn't get everything done, but I am at my brain's limit of how much EU legislature I can deal with in a day, so I just sent M the half-finished version for him to review. The part that are not done don't concern him anyway, but putting together his comments and my updates will be a bit tricky, but that can't be helped now.
I feel very overwhelmed on all fronts. But if there's one thing that will not help anything, it's sitting on my butt whining by the computer, so I am going to go and do something and then maybe I won't feel so overwhelmed?
