Turquoise Bay in Western Australia truly lives up to its name with some of the most radiant turquoise waters you might ever see. The beach is undeveloped, maintaining a sense of untouched natural beauty where the desert meets the sea. This remote location within Cape Range National Park means fewer crowds and more space to explore the sandy shores and surrounding scrubland. Additionally, Turquoise Bay is particularly known for its snorkeling right from the shore. The waters of the bay are part of the incredible Ningaloo Reef, providing up-close encounters with a diverse array of marine life in crystal-clear conditions. Its currents gently carry snorkelers along the reef in a relaxing drift, commonly known as the 'Drift Snorkel.' Turquoise Bay offers an immersive nature experience that is rare to find elsewhere.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I need to be up early to take Fred to the vet for his Solensia injection, so I'll CUOP while I'm in the waiting room.

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

Thanks for the start trissie. I hope the St Martin parade is enjoyable.

kittykatt, good luck with the vet appt for Freddie.

No payroll for Nov 11th. DS7 wants to go to the ceremony (end of WW1) at the town hall. Actually the school headmaster asks every year for the eldest pupils to join the ceremony, not the young ones, but DS9 didn't want to participate. DS7 and I will just stand and watch. I hope it doesn't rain when we go.
No real plans for the day, but the to-do lists are full, as are would-like-to-do lists.

TADAs
up, tea
sorted teabags and herbal teabags in the breakfast cupboard (things are getting wild in the kitchen cupboards)
quick cuop

I really hope to bbl, recently it feels like I've tended to write a message at the start of the thread and ghost for the rest of the day, while everyone else is politely responding to what I wrote... :)

Good morning, FFB! Fingers crossed you have dry weather for the ceremony. Do they lay wreaths of poppies like we do over here? I think that's really nice that DS7 wants.to go and watch with you. .

Freddie was reasonably well behaved at the vets (for him! ) and only hissed and grumbled a bit while we were waiting. We saw D, Freddie's usual vet, who "gets" Freddie, and is really good with him.

When we got home, Fred headed straight for the food cupboard, as he felt he was a very Good Boy, who was also very Hungry! He has been suitably rewarded, and is now sleeping. Ive had my breakfast and I'm now drinking my coffee before I see if I can pick up a few leaves in the front garden. It's drizzling here, but only very lightly. So far!

kittykatt, glad it went well for Freddie, and for the vet. We had no rain. No poppies here - at this time of year they would use plastic poppies I suppose ? The wreath was red (I'm not sure of the names) and white flowers (lilies, roses), and a few blue ones. Because of our blue-white-red flag. And some kids from the school had white roses and read names of a few deceased veterans before putting the froses in front of the town's war monument - a kind of statue with the list of soldiers who died in service. Or some who technically went missing but were never found.

L.Ann, writing essays is an interesting idea. And a commendable effort (for teachers, pupils). Is it the same in the US as in France, with every city or town having a special place for War ceremonies, maybe a small monument, or larger memorial in large cities or cities with a special History.

So we went to the 11 Nov ceremony. DS7 was happy because they played (and some sang) the Marseillaise, then the European hymn. For some reason there was a US flag this year. A few speeches, but they keep them short - or no families would assist - and afterwards there were drinks and a few crisps / crackers served - or no retired people and veteran would assist ( just kidding, but not entirely false).
A leek and feta pie is in the oven, I quickly made another one with spinach, for MrNG and I to have as packed lunches. Never use the oven to bake only one thing if you have room for more. And another rule that goes well with this one : if you buy one pack of puff pastry, you might as well buy two.

TADAs
washed, dice and cooked leek
got DS7 and I ready, otd
11th Nov ceremony
back home, baked pie, made another quick one

TODO
lunch : leek and feta pie, chocolate mousse (MrNG made it yesterday night)
cleanup, quiet time
things from to-do list, things from would-like-to-do list

Today is a regular day here. I don't think any schools are off. There's probably a ceremony somewhere.

FFB, what a nice family outing! Hmm. . . on the US flag at the ceremony this year. I like your baking advice!! I don't do much baking anymore; I think switching to GF for dd30 kind of demotivated me bc GF bread never tastes as good as regular bread, imho. (Not as true for cookies and cakes.) Though, dd27 has played around with flour mixes and come darn close! I still need to cook with leeks; leek, spinach, and feta pie sounds delicious!
Oh my gosh, L Ann - you're already wrapping Cmas gifts!
Glad everyone survived the vet visit, Kitty.

Yesterday felt pretty productive for a change! I didn't get everything done, but I don't think I make reasonable goals many times. I need to work on that. LOTS of payroll got done yesterday.

Today, on the schedule: meeting with K, S2, and J - on the other side of town from around 10 - 12 this morning. That will be my morning. AND hosting MZ for dinner; she's not doing well, has had some mental health challenges that landed her in the hospital, so we're not sure how this will go. But we wanted to reach out to her. MZ is dd30's age and lived with us for 6ish months many years ago. We've stayed in touch with her, even after her friendship with dd30 fractured. Before I head out to meet K, S2, and J this morning, I need to finish reviewing the reading exams AND write bills that need to go in the snail mail. Other things that I would like to happen: procure more groceries - Kroger order? Exercise - gym to work on the elliptical. It should be low-impact for my back. Progress on phone calls and memorial thank yous would be great. Lastly, grading practice exam homework assignments as they're turned in will help me see where to focus a few minutes of review in class tomorrow before the exam.

It is gray and 29F (-1.7C). Not very inspiring weather.

Next:
- payroll: review reading exams
- pay snail mail bills X3
- s2s and self care

Later:
- finish reclaiming the kitchen
- make the bed

- call optometrist; make appt.

Good morning/ good afternoon, L.Ann, FFB and Helia!

Enjoy the parade, L.Ann!

FFB, your remembrance ceremony sounded beautiful. The poppies over here are made from a stiff card /paper in red (for the petals ) and green (for the leaves).

Helia, I have a friend who makes extremely good gluten free cakes, and she told me her secret is to sift the flour *three times* before folding it in or adding it to the mixture.

Freddie insisted on going for a walk before I started my housework. I've also put the bins back as the dustmen have been. The hall and stairs are now done and I've started on the sitting room. Freddie is currently snoring!
