Take your (Catapult) Shot Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

The online aunties can't wait to hear all about catapult successes today!

Google AI:
"Take your shot" means to make an attempt or take a chance, often in a situation where success is not guaranteed. It is used to encourage someone to try something, like pursuing a goal, asking someone out, or making a proposal, despite the risk of failure.
Hmmmmn, pursuing a goal? trying something? How could that apply to us? We could declutter that rats nest closet, or try a new way of eating, or even begin a new difficult project!

Take your Shot today!

Awwwwe I love our SHE village filled with online aunties.

The rest of the catapult story....
DD49 delivered the catapult around 6am this morning along with bowls of freshly cooked split pea & ham soup. My heart is filled with thankfulness in that DD49 is staying involved in the teens lives and come through for them in those clutch moments. I hope the teens always know how much DD49 loves them to the best of her ability.

When I dropped DD14 off at school, she exclaimed, "What is going on with all the traffic?!" I couldn’t help but laugh—it was only a couple dozen vehicles, but enough to make it seem busy. With about 30 students in 9th grade, it turns out many of them arrived in vehicles delivering catapults.
It was a happy moment in DD14 life in that she baked lemon bars for her friends last night and packaged them in gift bags to hand out today. She has some social challenges, possibly related to autism, but is making progress in becoming part of a six-person friend group she interacts with successfully.

Break is over....time for me to get going again.

Slept great! shifted when I take one pill to three in the afternoon dosed a bit last nite and got a 6 hr. slot of uninterrupted sleep yea!
Did not have to get up at three to P. YEA! Made a huge difference in how I feel today. Up at 5:30 - 5:45 ish.

Did my heel lift balance about 10 sec. is all I get but glad for that improvement.

I've put a small air filter on my wish list.

Made coffee

had some bfast
thawed out other meals for today

We have a fog alert for the area but it's better than yesterday.

Waving to all.

So glad for the day's successes already! And Nancy is working on her balance too!

I have a cold, lots of drainage and congestion and continued sore throat. Difficult to get to sleep but once asleep I don't remember waking up a lot. I did turn off the alarm and slept in until 8:45 however. Dh had worked out early, came back through for shower, and went out to breakfast.

I have laundry going, have walked the dog, finished second cup of coffee. Of course, it's 10:15 and I slept in. I hope to workout this afternoon - if only to stretch, move a little and do a little. And I hope to go on to Knoxville tomorrow. Still thinking on that.

lol, Twins' Mom and I, Great Minds that we are, of course, posted at about the same time, she ahead. My thoughts will work another day.

I've been up getting some notes written, with headings, "today, tonight, foods", which don't sound very detailed but, sadly, they are.
I feel very much on deadline for lots of things in the next few days. Next week looks like a joy, for sure!

Got a call from a nurse at the hospital, as opposed to the doctor, and her ideas for how I'm supposed to eat are different. They are driving me crazy.

Kittykatt and others, you are so right about how homework assignments and testing requirements can favor those students who have real interest and involvement from at least one adult. My oldest grand, whom I call DangerBoy here, and my second-youngest dgsJ, ddolder's oldest and youngest boys (she has 4 and is widowed), were born with less hearing than usual. All 4 in public school, although a lot of at-home options because ddolder researched and jumped through hoops on their behalf. That gets teacher's faces centered on screens a lot, life-size. Their household is schoolwork-regimented and she even sets up casual "appointments" with each boy to have meetings over what the next homework is, where the next testing location is, when they need to buy odd supplies, who gets the dining room table space for the evening, etc.

So, she's a flurry of Mom, but what if she couldn't be? What if her flex-work-from-home-and-in-person job wasn't possible for her? What if every single day of school for 4 different ages/schools meant a different bell schedule or needed transport hither and yon? When she's not vigilant, someone starts slipping into missed assignments as it is, and if there wasn't someone who could devote that much attention, the slip would turn into a slide fast.

It truly takes a village to raise a child. Family, friends, teachers, doctors, neighbors all can play a vital role in shaping a child as they grow and learn to become an adult.

I am finding it interesting how the pathway hourly tasks are letting me know when I am off my game and/or distracted by other happenings. I am running about 2 hours behind today and can tell that I am not 100% mentally in the game. I'm okay with that because I know the reason and accept that every day can't be 100%.

DH has changed clothes 4 times today. I guess this is his new thing to do. >>>shrugging shoulders<<< oh well.

Hi!

I've been somewhat productive. I went to a bank and paid 2 things. I got some gas in my car. I went to Service Canada to ask about some paperwork we (dh) got in the mail. Now we will be getting a phone call to go over this long 2 page questionnaire. It's asking all kinds of financial questions and I don't know what or how to respond to most of it.

So that got those things done. Then for the fun I went to Chapters/Indigo/Coles and got the latest Reacher book by Lee and Andrew Child.

Came home and had lunch.

More in MO re husband's health. Sigh...

hello
this morning was busy brain wise - brother came over and together we spoke to the insurance company broker bc bc and bs dropped their prescription program bc it lost money for them. I had to sign up for a new one for January - that's done.
helped with mom but d helper fed mom breakfast - I just had to get it together- she washed up mom as well - I just had to help with getting her up.
I had a talk with the landscape company - their secretary is lovely - I made a mistake when writing the check for this month - so she and I figured it out.
took meds
and that's about it and now it's 12:14 pm - wow that morning went fast.

dh is washing dishes which is very nice.
No cards done but things that are important were accomplished.
tomorrow at 8 the builder is stopping by so I have lots of work to do today to prepare for them.

hi d cathy - yay on going to the bank and paying 2 things, yay on gas in your car! yay on paperwork! praying for your dh!

hi d lady - it definitely takes a village to raise a child!
I am finding it interesting how the pathway hourly tasks are letting me know when I am off my game and/or distracted by other happenings
. Do you have an hour blocked off for certain jobs/tasks?
I think it's great that you know when path is working or it needs adjustments. it is good to know when things can be done and can't be done - it's not about us - it's just how it is!

how wonderful that your dsil dropped that off! yay for your dd and your d sil!!! I can imagine the cars with kiddo's with their catapults
how nice that your dd made lemon bars for her friends!

hi d Nancy If I was your pup - I would be very happy with the cornbread!
yay on your sun peeping out!

hi d harriet actually that sounds detailed -
hope they come up with a program that they can agree on re: what you can have! They did that with dd orders antibiotics - one dr. says one thing and the hospital said another.
- your daughter sounds like a wonderful mom who is determined to help their children. Things do slip fast and it is a lot of work for your dd and other parents to stay on top of things. I can't imagine how hard it is to have to be at work all the time and stay focused on what is needed at school.

d twins yay on your days successes! feel better from your cold!!!
rah rah rah on your work - hope you get to go to Knoxville tomorrow
it is always a joy to be here with you!
