Re: Tax Freedom Day Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
Tax Freedom Day is a concept developed and trademarked by American businessman Dallas Hostetler, which aims to calculate the first day of the year on which a nation as a whole has theoretically earned enough income to pay its taxes. Every dollar that is officially considered income by the government is counted, and every payment to the government that is officially considered a tax is counted. Taxes at all levels of government – local, state and federal – are included.

Re: Tax Freedom Day Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for starting us off. Your topic is a somewhat thorny one here in the UK, as the nstional budget is tomorrow, we seem to have a fairly useless chancellor, ( not helped by the fact rhetnonenof the national newspapers published its "budget calculator " so you could do your own "budget " for the country, and it was surprisingly easy to juggle the figures to produce a big surplus and also to keep everyone happy- markets, general population etc.). It wasn't real life, nof course, but its made peiple think, "If I can do it, with hurting hard working people, why cant she?"
And, of course, the nation as a whole is fed up with the cost of living crisis, high energy bills and the NHS still not working properly . As well, the nation is deeply divided between those who work hard and are fed up with hearing stories of perfectly fit, mostly.young people who won't work so the rest of us have to support them. I'm sure some of the stories are exaggerated, but you get the point.
The government also really don't help themselves either. One of the ideas they are promoting is "free" ( ie taxpayer funded) breakfast clubs for all children. Maybe slightly divisive, but many people generally approved of the idea, until the government released a video where they had interviewed parents who said how these clubs would benefit them. Not a single parent said it would help them get to work on time, insread it was full of people like the woman who claimed it would help as she forgot if she had fed her kids (just how do you forget to feed your kids??!!!), which, of course, has now divided the nation even more. (Sigh!)
So, for the next few days I'm going to try and stay away from it all and not read/ listen to any news, and instead concentrate on things that are actually under my control.
Rant over, it's time to start my day! Its suppsed to be dry and sunny today, so a good walk and.some garden time are on the agenda.

I’m not sure what we are doing today, it all depends on the weather. If it’s nice then we are going to visit some museums. If it’s not nice (weather forecast called for possible storms and hail) then we shall decorate for Christmas. It’s a win in my book either way. For now just watching some tv while it’s still dark outside. Have a good day.

Good morning, L.Ann and Bama! ( We haven't had lunch yet, so I'm still counting it as morning!)
L.Ann, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with your family. Can I ask what ICE is? ( I can only think of *that* government agency, and I'm sure it isnt that!)
Bama, either of your plans sounds a lovely way to spend a day with DD.
I've spent most of the morning in the garden z tidying up, moving the summer pots to a place where they can either die or live without me having to look at them. The geraniums will sometimes survive the winter if it's neither too cold nor too wet, so it's worth a try. I've also trimmed the periwinkle growing along side the fence and swept the patio. Its looking better out there now, and I still had time for a short walk in the sun.

Re: Tax Freedom Day Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning!
trissie ~ thanks for the start!
kitty ~ not knowing whether you fed your kids or not is a little weird.
L.Ann ~ blowing some travel mojo on your clan.
Bama ~ ooo... museums! Hope you get some nice weather.
Yesterday's tadas:
• Gym felt good. Will I go today? That is the question.
• Ran back over to the tile/floor place. Talked to the rep some more. Just when I thought my choices were solid, he gave me MORE sample to try.
• College basketball game - fun! We won - but we're also still in pre-conference.
• I should've done some grocery shopping, but I'll do that today.
Today's todos:
• hair cut
• gym?
• bank
• back to townhouse to try more samples
• Call AD, HS, & FS
• other stuff
Now to decide what I can logically get done today.
