Good morning, everyone.

Do check J and C, as was mentioned last night.

Yesterday after I last posted,
the trash and recyclable chores were handled.
the address checking work for cards was done.

Ddolder and her two youngest came over with a plate of various homemade dessert portions to share with us - coconut pie, Hello Dolly bars, chocolate-oatmeal-peanut butter cookies. I sort of tried to hide it from HRH so we'd still have it for sharing tomorrow, but didn't have the heart. If dd27 and dsonil miss getting some they will have other things. The pie and cookies are HRH's favorites and were truly meant for him, I know.

Ddolder and her boys leave today at mid-day to pick up DangerBoy at Univ. and continue on to her in-law family. The boys' other Grandmother (long widowed) is now living with her youngest dd, which is also where dd's family will stay.

For the second time EVER, we encountered an Assassin Bug and again it was on ME. When we got back from taking recyclables and trash, after a while I noticed it on my shirt. It was lifting that awful scorpion rear end high, like the other one did, but I guess it was an adult (after all, it's November) because it was gold color without as much red. I was extremely spooked, of course, because dermatologist says I must NOT be bitten/stung by one again. HRH helped me and got it off. It is the first one he has ever seen in person, since it was at the bridesmaids' B and B when it happened the first time and he wasn't there, just saw the photos. So, with first-sightings by two old hands like us, for two years in a row, I guess they must be moving into the area. Yipes.

Yesterday dh told me he was going out to do Christmas shopping for me on Thursday. This morning he said he was going out to do that today. Then he asked if I wanted to go with him. I told him I would know everything I was getting if I did that. He also said he had to go to the bank to see how much money was in his account. I did that on Monday for him. There is a printout on the side of the fridge.

I had plans to go and do a bunch of shopping today. Now I'm waiting to see what he's doing so I can work around him.

It's overcast here, with the possibility of high winds at some point with a snow storm predicted for tomorrow/Friday with lake effect snow.

I'm just going to go stitch until he decides to do his stuff. That could be in 5 minutes or 5 hours.

I'm contemplating how to share with my kids the bad news.
Timing is just awful on it. Okay I did that in the group chat so that I do not have to do it on Turkey day.
Dsis bday is tomorrow.

I'm sort of on auto pilot knowing a few things I can do today that I couldn't this weekend as my back heals.
So grateful for being able to make my bed like I usually do this morning.
Had a great bs reading.
Did my bujo and other journal & planning.
Put more items out of the living room and into the basement that are not decor needed for Dec.

I am exhausted - all the wind took down our gutter and part of the siding pulled off where they had worked. Lots of nightmares.

I will have to be gentle on myself listening to the book "The Christmas Carol"; I listen to it yearly.

Back from breakfast/brunch out with ds and his dbuddy Z (our "other" son) and his wife and sweet little dd-17 months.

I didn't get much done except to walk the dog and shower before we left so need to backtrack now to finish, and there's some other stuff that needs to be done also. Going to do the five things routine until I'm done to try to stay on track.

Good morning

I turned the a/c off AGAIN this morning and turned the heat on. Surely this is the last time we need a/c in 2025. I can not remember ever still harvesting tomatoes & peppers from the garden at Thanksgiving. There are even flowers still blooming in the garden!

I am hopeful for a quiet day. I crave calm and silence. It's not that my life is filled with drama, but I find taking a break from normal noise is refreshing.

My Thanksgiving meal prep is coming together nicely. DS51 shared his two-turkey approach and summed it up perfectly: "Once you’ve done it a few times, it becomes easier."

Good morning! It is a windy one here — I imagine we’re getting the wind you had last night, blessed. Here it is dropping the temperatures, and we are supposed to get lake effect snow all night and all through tomorrow. They’re expecting about two inches total — seven in the snow belt.

I did not get much done yesterday besides the crockpot and a load of DH’s shirts. I can’t believe he wants more shirts for Christmas, but more than half of his shirts are short-sleeved, and he has taken to wearing long. I was thinking he needed to go up a collar size, but as I did wash, I noticed that the shirts that pulled most at the buttons were trim fit; the normal ones are okay.

I did have a pleasant surprise last night. DH’s school was having a no-shave November fundraiser, and DH participated. I do not like him with a beard, and I felt so bad about it — he supports me in everything I do, but I just couldn’t get over it. I was just trying to make my peace with it and mostly failing. Well, last night, he shaved — said yesterday was the last day in November that the students would be in, so the fundraiser was over. Oh, I’m in heaven!

Oh, Harriet, I’m so glad you weren’t bitten! You’re going to have to tell me what Hello Dolly bars are.

Cathy, I wish my husband would let me help him shop for me. He doesn’t get that brick-and-mortar stores don’t carry stuff for someone of my size, and he’s not fond of shopping online. I’d really like some more warm clothes, but most of all, I’d like a walking pad, and few will bear me.

Oh, Nancy! That is indeed awful timing — not that any time is a good one.

Who reads the version of A Christmas Carol that you listen to, blessed? We are fond of the Patrick Stewart one.

What a lovely brunch, Twins!

After an early fall of mostly warm temperatures, once it turned cold here, it has pretty much stayed cold, LadyM. I don’t think I’d want a/c temperatures, but I do envy you the warmth.

So. Things to do. DH, bless him, made an attack on Mt. Dishmore before he left for work. I’d like to see if I can finish it before he gets home. And I should throw in a load of wash. I’m actually keeping up with the laundry since I redid my cards. I’ve actually been able to wash some things other than clothes — rugs, a blanket — and I’d like to see it continue. And it is not morning anymore, but lunchtime, so I will do that first. Love to you all!

While things are calm, I'm going to take this opportunity to install Windows 11, version 25H2. Hopefully it will go well.
