Today is "Black Friday" the day shoppers hit the stores and holiday purchases begin in earnest. At least traditionally that happens, or used to happen. Remember the friends who were at the mall when the doors opened at 5 a.m. or some way-too-early time?

We now have Black Friday too, but it seems to last for about 2-3 weeks before and 2-3 weeks afterwards. When it first started the stores would have to lay on extra security to break up fights over TVs. I can pinpoint the year when it moved mostly online to 2018. I used to get up early on Fridays and do my grocery shopping when the store opened at 7 am. That year, once again there were extra security guarding the TVs on offer, but when the doors opened, the shoppers streamed right past and headed to the fruit and veg.

Today, I'm planning on buying such exciting but necessary items as cat food, supplements for me and some toiletries again for me. All reduced, and all things that are needed! I also need loaf tin liners and beeswax furniture cream, which I think are also reduced.

I love catching up from yesterday and I love that bw2's dmom had a wonderful day. I love that KittyKatt said this last night:

We had a great time as well with dcousin J and her family. She is doing well and her kidney function is slightly better. She is delaying any decision on dialysis until after the holidays. We had a great time together. Good food, family, what more could one ask? Was nearly dark when dh and I got home and we just collapsed. TV on, iPad out to read, catch up on news, surf the internet.

Not sure what's on for today - I'd like to stamp - need to clean up that desk once again. I've always just walked away from the mess and left it, and when I sit down again I straighten when I'm more energetic.

Not sure what else is happening here today. Dh is home, no Rotary meeting this a.m.

Kittykatt, although I'm afraid I actually don't know about the difficult week over the Benefit Street budget, I am grateful along with you for newspapers. I worked for seven years as a journalist and admire The Fourth Estate greatly. (A term coined in your country, not mine, but fitting very well here, too.) Thankful for "those who would set up the conscience of a printing press".

Good to hear while CUOPing that those who were celebrating Thanksgiving had good ones, for the most part. (Sorry to hear that lucylee's mom was under the weather.)

Don't have any shopping planned (at least not directly) for today, except for one thing, though I do have some un-shopping planned -- the errands I would like to run are going to the BMV to renew the kids' temps and get DD a Real ID (she's the only one of us who doesn't have one yet), drop off three boxes and two children's stools that won't fit in a box to the thrift store, and stop at the hardware store to get a creosote sweeping log -- the chimney sweep suggested we burn one before our first fire of the year, saying it would help prevent buildup. Maybe will also stop at the liquor store to pick up a bottle of wine to take to DB's tomorrow. All these stops are along the boulevard in the next suburb over, so not inconvenient. Need to also go online and check out the streaming deals.

We have an invitation to a friend's house for games this afternoon, but I don't know if we will go. I'm inclined to stick closer to home; they live about half an hour away.

I need to go rouse DC to get up and dressed for our outing. Have a great day!

hello - good morning! good afternoon! where ever you may be!

d harriet the boys are getting older! my brother in law 55, and a couple of my 30 year + oldish nephews carried her up and down the stairs. dd's picked her up to put her in the front seat. I have to laugh because my one nephew is almost 45 - how did that happen?

My family (actually dh's family - the girls-but they are my family) are already out getting coffee and shopping.(we used to leave at 5 to go downtown but downtown has changed and the stores we used to go to are gone- they left at 6 am to meet for 7 am coffee). Now we go to old orchard, coffee 3 times, Downton Evanston, target, other stores). We have the care giver coming from noon to 10pm so that we can go with them the rest of the day! We end with a Mexican restaurant and a margarita. (lol I can only have a few sips) - I am there for the lovely company and the chips and salsa.

I still have to figure out what mom should have for lunch and dinner - I am a little behind today.
time to get mom up and wash her down. I need to wash her hair.

dd younger is heading out soon. I think we are all driving separately - I have to find out if dd older is doing the evening or the whole thing.

Counting my Wins!
Got the orders for my items done on Wed. some will be here tomorrow, Lucy you will luv this this part they are planners and refills! LOL!
One for my writing with time blocking areas, and the inserts have top three things for the day. Like the smaller version I got for food tracking
and exercise journaling & health focus ones I ordered in the fall. I wanted bigger ones for these but I did like the format.
On the back of the pages have days of the week for things to focus on.

I have a work shop on planning in early Dec. for writers so I'm delighted to have it for that.
I have a used book I want will come in Dec. "The 12 Week Year" I"ll be reading it again in Jan.

Got a gift basket for some one in post surgery; Dgd took those items and put em in her just before leaving.
Plus one set of hot pads and dish cloths for a friend that got engaged [collage age].

I had sets for others in the family and those all went over well.
One gal from ex - dil other guys daughter was there and wanted to know how to do them up and I "coached" her on that.
[The word DD used for it! +) made me feel great!] I told her about the website I had learned the round star shaped dish cloth
pattern from. I have more yarn I'd put away and "found" for more of them and requests for more of those so I"ll be making up some
more. Gotta luv that and the organizing on the zones I did last fall on getting my sewing zone upstairs.

Being as active and ability to do stuff like stairs, leaf raking, walking, stretching is a bonus at my age!

Dson smoked two turkeys one with butter; one was dairy free with chicken broth both were excellent and a ham.
A person was there that does not eat meat so I had great optins that were low carb. Yea!
13 people were there and we remembered to do a group pic. too.

Hi!

We just got home from shopping. Plain old groceries in Niagara Falls (mostly meat) and we stopped at our favourite bakery which is literally just up the hill from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls, but not considered tourist-y. We were hungry so we had sandwiches from their deli and ate them while we drove to our next stop. Then we went to a store that sells things for the disabled. We really lucked out as they had a hospital table that usually goes over a bed, Dh will use it for his computer until it's needed elsewhere. We also got him a cushion for the kitchen chair. It has an air bladder inside of it, so it can be refilled with more air if needed. Then we took the back roads home. Dh loves taking the long way to get to places. I prefer the highway.

With dh's help almost everything is away. There are some baked things that need to get into the freezer at some point today.

It's still incredibly windy here. As for that snow event... yawn... the patio was still clear when we woke up this morning. The snow that was on the truck got blown off as soon as dh put the truck into drive.

Now I'm headed out to do even more shopping, if picking up dh's prescriptions could be called shopping.

Rains have stopped saw a bit of the blue sky.
Have the washer going now.

Did some zone work in the craft sewing zone and my butterfly room.
That feels better. Got some yarns out to consider for a project or projects.
They need some gages knit up.
I did set up my wellness journal with the right lay out for food / med. log.

Had my cranberry juice.
I have a plan for meals leftover meat & a roll for one.
Dinner not sure could be the same.

Considering what day is best for making the chocolate pumpkin bread.
