house fairy *sparkle Tuesday December 2, 2025

Post by blessedw2 »

How many of you remember the house fairy suggested by pam and Peggy of Sidetracked Home executives?

The house fairy (Pam for Peggy, and Peggy for Pam) would dress up as the house fairy and come check their sisters children's room to see if it was picked up. A clean room recipient would receive something small - raisins - cookie etc. but were also given time to get it done.
Imagine your sister coming over with swim fins, a tutu and etc. to surprise your family?

I was the house fairy at our house. I called myself the Mommy house fairy! years later I found out dd eldest thought there was a real house fairy.

What if we did that for ourselves for a job well done (not perfect!) - a cup of tea, hot chocolate with marshmallows or coffee, a book to read, a moment of pure calm or something that you have been wanting.

Magic keeps happening - we can celebrate it - children at home or not - magic never has to stop!

have a wonderful day! where can you add fun and magic in your day? The possibilities are endless!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

blessed, I vote for Peppermint Hot Chocolate for all clandestine House Fairies who are pleased with themselves! (also a vote for being easily pleased.)

Gee, I've got to see that Ariver commercial! I've been enjoying the Michaels ones this year - great toe-tapping music in the first I saw and then there's another that's cute, too.

I showed that little air pump to HRH.

Brrrr... .. sleet and icyness overnight here but HRH thinks we'll be okay on the road to his appt since we don't leave for a while.

Thinking of all who go out by dawn into the slippery-slid-y, including my kids and grands.

Oh, here it is. Give that advertising company a trophy.

Oh I hope the house fairy shows up here and checks dh's "office" upstairs!

I was about to get started with ta da Tuesday and having the garbage out - since dh didn't do it earlier. His workout was at 8 this a.m. instead of 7 so I didn't want to risk the garbage truck coming through before he was back.

At least the rain has stopped here, I think we had rain almost all night and it's a dreary-looking cold morning here. Continuing on DAR work today.

Hi!

Last night I had a dream that I had cross stitch projects all over my house. I was looking for something else but every place I looked, there was more and more and more projects finished and unfinished. So, of course, when I woke up I decided that I had better get my cross stitch pile on a small table sorted out.

We woke up to snow on the vehicles and the patio and driveway, but not much on the grass. We had planned to start the decorating today. NOPE! Maybe later today, but I told dh I wanted to get a few things done first.

A while ago I saw someone on FBook clean the window of an oven with a pumice stone. I finally bought one yesterday and while I was waiting for the kettle to boil this morning, I cleaned the interior side of the oven window. It was insanely easy!! Just wet the pumice stone and rub gently. WOW!!

Good morning! Nice to see you here so early, blessed!

Don't tell anybody, but I am procrastinating on tidying my bathroom. Normally, I tidy it before I come downstairs for breakfast, but DH has a snow day today and was in there. Sadly, DD does not have a snow day, even though both the districts that feed the parish school are closed. Well, perhaps that will mean a lighter load in aftercare. She has decided she will not be going back after Christmas. It's a shame, because they are already short-staffed, but it is taking a toll on her mental and physical health. So she will put in her two weeks' notice before break.

On my agenda today is going through her health insurance records to check the total "sticker" price of her care for the past year, so we can determine if anything other than catastrophic care insurance is warranted. (It sounds like ER coverage is needed, too!) Apparently, she is covered for the rest of the calendar year, but it sounds like enrollment on the exchanges will come up before her birthday.

DH was outside shoveling, so I prompted DD to go out there -- apparently she already had plans to once she had finished what she was doing. IMHO, DH is old enough that he should be taking it easy, and we have two able-bodied young adults in the house who can take care of such things.

Hello also to Harriet, Twins, and Cathy! Cathy, I would worry a pumice stone would scratch the window. It doesn't?

I should trudge up the stairs -- no, not trudge; I should come up with a happier verb. I'd like to dance, but my knees say otherwise! At any rate, I should go upstairs and tackle that bathroom!

Have a pleasant day, everyone, including all those who come after!

I told dh that I didn't plan on putting the tree up today. I was going through cross stitch stuff and deep in thought as to what I would finish, what could be donated, etc. I heard him go outside. Next thing I know he opens the back yard and calls for me to come and hold the door open for him. He had somehow gotten the tree down from a top shelf and brought it to the back door on a 2 wheel dolly... sigh... Now it's in the living room with 3 cats sniffing around. So I turned off the light in the library and now there is a tree to be assembled and I want to sweep and mop that corner.

I had also told him some of the other things I wanted to get done first... but no. He just went ahead and brought it in.

Oh, well... I guess now the tree is in whether I was ready for it or not.

I'm scanning all the source documents for the analysis part of the app - I need to get those to Dropbox and I think I'm ready to send it off to the registrar for review. After she reviews and I correct (again!) I'll do a second app for the related patriot, so if all passes "muster" (get it? ) I'll have two patriots out of this one round of exertion. Of course, at the rate they're reviewing it could be awhile before they get to it. (They are current reviewing supplemental apps from Oct 2023 - I submitted one in March or April 2024 so hopefully it will come up....)

That was 54 pages scanned, now to check it...

Cathy, lol on the unfinished projects dream. Was it a nightmare or just curious?

And....the link is emailed off to the registrar! Done for now!
