Re: Snow Angels Sunday
A snow angel is a design made in fresh snow by lying on one's back and moving one's arms up and down, and one's legs from side to side to form the shape of an angel.
Creating the snow angel is a simple process. The first step is to find an undisturbed plane of fresh snow. The next step is to lie with arms and legs outstretched on the snow. The limbs are then swept back and forth, creating a trough through the snow. When it is finished, the snow angel should have the appearance of a stylized angel, the movement of the arms having formed wings, and that of the legs having formed a gown. Fresh, light, powdery snow makes the best snow angel rather than heavy, sticky snow.

Re: Snow Angels Sunday
Happy Sunday, everyone!
Laura, if your DDad hasn't baked cakes before, could you encourage him to start with something very easy to do, to build his confidence?
Dogged, ikwym about creating more of a mess in order to eventually improve things!
Gma, how very kind to take gifts to the Salvation Army .
Today is church, coffee with DF E, and then, after we've had lunch, a nap is in my future!

Re: Snow Angels Sunday
I'd guess snow angels are not commonly done in England, are they, kittykatt?
I never got back here yesterday. We went to the Christmas tree lightning, which is like a little fair with stalls with overpriced food, drinks and toys, there was a performance by a B-level singer (I know her, she was a big thing in musicals in the 1990's and 2000's, I guess she's still a showperson), a laser dancer show (think firedancer, but instead of fire hoops it's LED-lights on the hoops), and a performance by kindergarten (which is 3-6 years here) and elementary school kids. I don't have perfect pitch, but pretty close. I suffered badly
the kids closest to the microphone wasn't able to hold a tone and did not remember the lyrics. Luckily, I wisely packed a thermos of mulled wine, which did make things better (and a pair of really warm fur-lined shoes, so my toes were perfectly fine)
Today, it's baking day - the kids want to decorate gingerbreads in the evening and I'd like to finish all the "must haves" that are done in advance.
Frenchie, if you store the gingerbread men in an airtight box, they will be fine for weeks and even for months!

Re: Snow Angels Sunday
◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
trissie, thanks for the cookie storing advice, and coming from an expert I know I can follow it with no second thought. Sorry you had to endure poor singing in the cold.
kittykatt, thanks for the start, glad you found someone for your repair. Never did snow angels, I think you really need snowproof clothes to do that. I hope you have a good time at church and a peaceful Sunday.
Rainy and windy Sunday. DS7 needs some fresh air and exercise but won't get any, I'm afraid, and we won't get any rest until he does
but that's life, and I won't complain having a lively, healthy kid just because he's tired and a bit excited about Christmas. That's what I need to keep in mind today
Yesterday's family movie was Rise of the Guardians (in French, it's titled the five legends)
We stayed in bed late, DS7 had "prepared breakfast", ie he had got a lot of things out of the fridge, all breakfast-related, and some extra, and set cups and knives and glasses - he was quite proud of himself.
Not sure what we will do with our indoors day. It's almost noon already, so I think things will figure themselves out.
TADAs
up late, all fed bfast set by DS7
cleaneup, dw emptied
offered a Christmas-related decoration project, but both DS were uninterested and prefered a paper airplane contest that ended in a fight
started a lol
TODO
fill washer with remaining clothes and re start lol
lol out
MrNG is suppoed to prep some 'easy' lunch with veggies and fish and gnocchi - but he's on the phone with a DF...
more admin stuff
important email needs a paper MrNG is supposed to give me before tonight
some lunchbox cooking in the afternoon
bake gingerbread cookies ?
things from to-do list and Christmas list
relax and read, stitching project ?
also prepare list for next week

Re: Snow Angels Sunday
I might try making gingerbread men this year too, thanks to your info that they store well, trissie. Sounds like the outing yesterday was at least interesting. Nice - fur lined shoes. I just got a new pair that have faux fur around the ankle plus padding to help keep my feet warm. I'm going to try this pair rather than the other pair I wear every winter. (I have been buying a new pair of the same shoe every 2-3 years.)
What did you do with your indoor afternoon, FFB? WTG to DS7!
Enjoy church and lunch with E, Kitty. Glad you're getting a nap!
I'm up and dressed warmly; I'm going to walk while dh runs. I think it will just be 45 minutes this time. The sun isn't quite up and it snowed more last night; I'll bundle up.
Today: 10-12 ish Church, 3:30 - 6-ish CG2 @ either L and B's place or AA's place. Then, 6-? host Sunday dinner for 7?
I caught up on grading and gradelink yesterday but didn't do much else before the party which took the rest of the evening.
BBL with lists.

Re: Snow Angels Sunday
Frenchie, Rise of the Guardians is a perfect pre-Christmas movie! We did the third Star Trek movie - the twins were at a sleepover and DS wanted some "boy stuff" and he's really into spaceships and stuff. Too bad there's no Star Trek LEGOs - I mean, there's the Enterprise, but that's a bit too pricey! DS7 is supersweet
helia, it's of course fake fur - I bought them as snow shoes at a sports store, but they are a cross between winter hiking shoes and snow shoes and even look good enough to wear to work (if I change into something more appropriate in the office) on very cold snowy days:

Re: Snow Angels Sunday
trissie, yes, we've started the Christmas-themed movies. Which is a good timing because after two Indiana Jones movies they were going to ask for the other ones, and really, there is better stuff to watch. (I'll admit maybe the one with Sean Connery as Jones Senior is okay). About Star Trek, well, neither MrNG nor I are geek enough for it, or maybe it's just because of our ignorance of the Star Trek world, so we won't introduce it to our kids. Nice shoes. I wasn't aware you had Decathlon stores too.
helia Have a good time walking. Isn't it too hard not to be able to run, at the moment? As for our afternoon, it's almost 4 and there are no real plans. But, unplanned is good too.
DS7 was supposed to be in the kitchen at 3.30 to help making cookies, but he is busy in his room, and quiet, so I'm not sure I want to remind him we had an 'appointment'. I got the butter out of the fridge to soften, I will see when he's ready.
DS9 is quietly sticking post stamps on a large sheet of paper. It's hard to have a collection of stamps in 2025 with hardly any letters being sent anymore. Maybe with a few Christmas cards in a few days or weeks he will extend his collection.

Frenchie, both DH and I are guilty as charged when it comes to geekdom, so...
plus with DS being neurodivergent - we want to introduce him into the geek community early on. It is and always has been an oasis of people who do not normally fit it, and it has a much higher than standard ratio of neurodivergent people.
