White Christmas is an Australian dessert made from dried fruit such as sultanas, glacé cherries, desiccated coconut, icing sugar, milk powder and Rice Bubbles, with hydrogenated coconut oil (such as the brand Copha) as the binding ingredient.

The hydrogenated oil is melted and combined with the dry ingredients. The mixture is poured into a rectangular baking tin and left to set, usually in the refrigerator. Once set it is cut into squares for eating.

It is a popular Christmas food item, especially as it can easily be made by children.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. Today's recipe sounds ... interesting, but I think I'd need.to find.altermative to that hydrogenated coconut oil! (Maybe butter?)

Helia, that's good news about your friend.

Gma,.you've.been very busy- WTG for a successful inspection!

L.Ann,.I hope your appointment went well.

Bama, very good news about your DH!. LucyLee wrote a very helpful message about tremor on yesterday's thread. My DF E 99 also has either the same or something very similar,.but hers is called a "benign tremor". Has your DH had his hearing checked recently? If he has wax build up or age related hearing loss, that may be a reason why he doesn't listen to you!

Dogged, very good news that Germane.likes duck and pea variety food again!

I never made it.back here yesterday, but I had a nice walk round the estate, a good session in my garden amd a long chat.with DNeighbour R, so I really made the most of the sunshine. I did housework in the afternoon,.and then DH announced he wanted to go carol singing with his friends. So, I made the most of an empty house,.and I've made.good.progress with the present wrapping . There's still lots to do, but I feel I've made good progress there.

Today.DH is going to the office. We're also due rain, so it's a good chance to work on the house and.maybe so some more wrapping. Id the rain holds.off or isn't too heavy, then I could.combine a walk with hand delivering some Christmas cards (possibly leave this until Friday when its supposed.to be dry and sunny again?)

Sounds pretty good, trissie. I know you are a fabulous cook/ baker especially for all these treats.
Hi, kittykatt
I just took 3 cranberry orange breads out of the oven; I "cheated" and used a box mix, one that I have used to make muffins often. This time I put it into loaf pans; box said that works. The tops got a little darker than I expected, but I needed to bake it long enough to be fully done. I did turn down the temp when I saw it was getting a bit dark. Not burnt by any means, they will be OK> At our church, we give homemade quick breads to all our homebound people, in nursing homes, and assisted living. I've been contributing breads at Christmas time for over 20 years!
I have more baking to do on Wednesday, as we are having a cookie potluck after the children's program, which is Wednesday evening. ( I hope someone is making coffee to go with the cookies, plus milk for the kids! )

It's bedtime here, 0100, and I have to back at mother's early, right around 8 am! I'm looking forward to having time to do some walking, and/or other exercise. probably after Christmas.
I should contact MrVKM and see if he would like to go to supper on Friday. Haven't had time to see him either.

☀️ Good morning!

Trissie, I never knew “White Christmas” was a food. The more you know… I had heard the word sultana before but can’t remember from where so looked it up, didn’t know it was a grape/raisin so now it’s a mystery to me where I’ve heard that word before.

Kittykatt, thank you for the heads up. Lucy Lee has reminded me that dh has “essential tremors”, I had forgotten the essential part and what a weird name as it certainly should not be essential lol. I hope the rain holds off so you can get your walk in and visit while you hand out your cards.

Sweet dreams, gma.

It’s still pretty early here, 4am, the dogs woke me up, so I’ve let them out and back in, and am going to lay down for a little longer. I’ll bbl with my list.
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥

I certainly hope you get more sleep, Bama.
That's a very thoughtful thing to do with your church, Gma.
Is the rain holding off, Kitty?
I've never heard of that dessert, trissie - or I've forgotten. Our 6 month stay in Australia included Christmas, but I don't remember eating/ hearing of it. Sounds delicious and easy to make!

My EMG results yesterday were normal, so I guess that is good -- no large nerve neuropathy  so it is probably small nerve fiber neuropathy, which could have various causes, but I think they're generally less severe.

It is above freezing! 🏝️ 37F now and forecast to get up to 41F -- and 52F tomorrow, with rain. THAT will be a mess on top of the snow and ice. . . I will try for a short jog today - if the timing works out.

Today: I will prep well before teaching 1:30 - 3:30. Friend SS will be observing. Then, I administer the exit exam online 4-5. I'd like to get in a jog and order dh's big gift - then I'll be done with major gift buying. I might still get a smaller gift for dd30 and dh. I think that will be it for today.

It's great that RH is arriving on Friday as that gives me more time to get ready. Thursday is my most open day of the week, so I can use that day to prep for his arrival.

Next:
- some qt
- payroll: prep for AAS D11
- payroll: make game for AAS D11 (part of prep - but will take some time so I want more credit :D )

- bins brought back to the house
- maybe, yarn store?
- maybe, start wrapping?

Morning all. Helian that is great there is no major nerve problem. Are the symptoms better now? That's why you didn't run for a bit right?

I'm glad your dh test results came out ok too Bama. Sounds very much like my dad. Diabetic too. His sugar is quite volatile with the stress. His legs are not strong. His memory? Yikes you would think he had issues too. His heart is ok now after surgery. Now his gout flared again.

Gma that's amazing you are sharing all that baking. You are still so busy. I hope you have time for dinner with mrvkm.

Morning kittykat and trissie.

Well Wednesday again. Hmmm. I can't decide what to do. Guess it depends what ds is up to. Yesterday he still didn't get up till after I left for late shift. I feel like maybe he had covid. Never tested it and probably won't now. I think this is like day 6. I'm not sick. But I have told my sister and stayed away from mom and dad. Today is my day I should pick up mom later and bring her home. Honestly I almost don't have time. But I'm going to be away in a few days. I should... or can I yet.

My baking is done. One cookie exchange this morning during bible study time. H is coming for a few minutes this morning. And then after I need to do some shopping. Maybe I will have to actually ask ds 16 to think of ideas for Christmas. I have stuff for dgs. That is it. I wanted to take stuff to dd house but I might have to do a little shopping up there with different selection. And maybe pick out stuff for dd and dsil once I see what they need? Ugh this is usually when I shop. Way too last minute. Just more time crunch cause we are leaving this year.

I should text dd see if she has a day off before we come. Plan a few things if she's off.

Basic routines first. Hopefully school run. Text my sister and see what she thinks if I should do mom today.

Priority list

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Should I get mom
Gift ideas
Dog food
Cat food
Browse gift store
Get ddil her gift I picked up for ds so she could hide it
Decide menu at dd place for a couple meals

Today's tada list

Shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some

Clean cat boxes and take garbage out from everywhere Send w dh
Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen all the way

Text my sister and dd
School run? I hope? Only 3 days left
Some qt in there somewhat
