Christmas Eve PWYC
Happy Christmas Eve today! Last minute prep, family time, what else is happening in the village today? Do tell!

DH and his cousins have a yearly tradition of calling each other to say "Christmas Eve Gift." They consider it to be a fun game to see who can be the first one to call. They used to call at 12:01 a.m., but now they wait until sunrise to make their calls. It’s one of those quirky family traditions that doesn’t make much sense but brings plenty of laughter each year.
Today meal theme will be Mexican. Tamales, enchiladas, quesadillas and taquitos are on the menu.
More info - as of this moment (and subject to change) DS17 plans to ask GF to marry him on her 16th birthday in January 2026. In August 2025 GF switched from IRL public school to online public school so she could fast track her classes. She is currently on track to graduate a year early but hopes to go even faster and to finish all the classes by Oct 2026. That would meet GF mother requirement for them to get married with GF being 16 years old and DS being 18 years old.
Is it a good plan? Probably not. But stopping two determined teenagers is nearly impossible. I can only keep the lines of communication open and bring potential issues and problems to their attention. A lot can happen in 10 months (now to Oct 2026) so who knows what the future will hold.

Happy Birthday Twins' Mom!! Thank you for starting our day!
Dh wanted bagels and English muffins from the store. He wants home made egg mc muffins for breakfast because we have ham slices. I ended up getting 2 bags of each with the extras going in the "bread freezer" out in the garage. It's a skinny freezer from a 2 door fridge/freezer combo. The shelves are only wide enough for 2 loaves of bread, so now I only put bread in there. I also got some egg nog. It's a treat and I only buy one each year. I also got the smallest container of orange juice possible. I noticed that all the customers in the grocery store were women. I didn't see anyone with children. I think it was all "last minute" stuff because the pile of navel oranges was surrounded by women all grabbing 2 or 3. I got one for dh's stocking.
I need to get dh's presents into bags with tissue paper. I would also like to get all of the kitchen clean. It's Wednesday, so I need to water all of the plants. NO Walmart today!

They have been married 55 years, it wasn't easy at first, but they had lots of support from both families. They had 4 children and 5 grandchildren- all really good people. Their grandchildren are adults or becoming adults.
I pray that what ever is right for them gives them blessings and a life time of joy.

LadyM, our family's experience with our state's online public school has been very good. A great amount of help to my grandboys, both those with diminished hearing and their brothers without. We've not had an early graduation time because of it, and I don't even know if there's an option for that. But come to think of it, dd has been able to intersperse some early/extra community college courses during it. So that may be because of similar quicker time frame. Yes, 10 months is an age for young people - so many changes are possible. Best wishes to them.
We feel a little bit under pressure here, but also cheerful.
Wish I knew exactly when dd27 will arrive.
HRH is guarding the vacuum cleaner until she comes. Sigh. Won't let me near it and it does drive me crazy because I know exactly how I want things done. I'll wear a mask while they do that and will be in a different space. It's only where we have rugs.
I suppose I could start the simmering Wassail early.
I need some particular lifting and toting done and have dsonil in mind for that.

I just feel drained, and I haven't done that much. We went grocery shopping, but I stayed in the car while DD went in. I helped unload and put away, but that's the extent of my physical activity. Nothing that would explain my shoulders and upper back hurting. Maybe I slept badly -- had the pillows in the wrong place or something.
The kids have hair appointments at 3, and we have Christmas Eve Mass at 7. The Midnight Mass was discontinued last year -- not enough people to justify it. I'd like to do a batch of cookies before we go to the hairdresser's.
Oh, LadyM! What news! That's quite a bit to take in.
Oh, Cathy! You've reminded me I should have gotten an orange for DH's stocking. Oh, well. Too late now; I think we may have an orange in the fridge, but I don't know its condition. So glad to hear the doctor agrees that you and DH need help.
I'm sure your appetizer will be yummy, blessed!
And I'm sure that Wassail will have your home smelling yummy, Harriet!

I've been slowly dealing with the kitchen. It looks better now than it did when I woke up this morning.
I've made the red jello and the green jello. Dh knew I made it because he said he could smell it.

Dson called he's doing a Jan. thing 2-bdays on the same day.
I decided to not go to his place for football watching knowing we all need down time helped.
Plus I have plans here with DD & a movie to view that's more fun.
