I should call this Sunday Sleep In, because that's what I've done. The day is still young, let's get going!

Good morning gals!
I woke up at 5:30 on my own!
[Had to pee] At half past five is better than three!
Up started my coffee took my bs & levothyroxine thyroid Rx.
Let ddoggo out and walked around the deck in the dark it was mild and not raining yet.
Sinuses acting up a bit.
Sitting here upright typing helps.

Good news insulin was just over$10 instead of 35 new Rx pricing has helped.
I have a plan de-bone chicken for later on in the day meals. x
Fed ddoggo.

I'm working on my master goals list b/c could not get the goals planner I wanted.
Two hrs. later... I'm awake.

Had a snacky type lunch.
Made up soup it's done cooling I will jar up some to freeze and eat on
the next couple of days. Got the kitchen cleaned up.

Hi!

I was in the area of my library this morning where my SHE books live. There are numerous other books of the same type, like Flylady's book and 2 books by CEO (Cynthia Ewer Organized) and the Queen of Clean, etc. Well, I thought I had the other books by Peg Braken, and there they were! The "I hate to cook book" and "I still hate to cook book" and "I hate to housekeep". I pulled the "I hate to housekeep" and started reading. This was written in 1959 and it could have been written yesterday.

Wonderful lines, such as "The efficiently organized expert makes the mistake of assuming that you, too, want to be one." LOL!! "and there is the matter of keeping up a good front." Like me, yesterday. Yes, the hallway and living room were clean looking, and parts might have been shiny, but the washing machine was full of dirty clothes and there was dust on all of the books.

Today I have gone into the deepest, darkest corner of the house... my craft cupboard. The doors were removed over 10 years ago when dh was building the shelves. We happened to buy a book shelf that was a lighter colour than the rest of them, so I put it in the closet space and put books there that were about crafts, including cleaning books. My goodness I had more than one shelf of those.

So, while the washing machine is doing the first load of bedsheets, I'm going to sit here and read and laugh because I also hate to housekeep!

It snowed last night and I was awoken by the sound of a very large snowplow clearing our street. We didn't get that much snow, but snowplows are also salt/sand trucks.

Cathy - YGG! I love reading about the books you have.

I can't say that I hate housekeeping but there have been times in my life when it falls so far down on the priority list that it is almost totally ignored. My standards are fairly low. Clean enough to not be a health hazard but embracing the fact that life happens and it usually isn't magazine photo ready.

I vividly remember the moment I realized baseboards needed to be cleaned. DO WHAT?! I was decades old and had never once noticed them, let alone given any thought to cleaning them. Now, I occasionally think about baseboards, but then I promptly move on thinking about something else. Will cleaning baseboards ever become a high enough priority to have a SHE card to remind me to clean them? Doubtful.

Morning…

Had my coffee, did my morning routines and picked up my footprints. Got Sweetie up and going… shower and breakfast which usually takes over and hour.

Decided I need to get up a bit earlier to get my mornings going. Not going to exercise 8:00 classes has spoiled me. To be honest I love to sleep in my bed during winter. The room is cool, the sun isn’t up yet and my bed is snuggly warm.

It’s one of the best part of being retired after many years of getting up between 4:30-5 so sleeping in is a treat for me.. usually up by 6:30, but if I’ve had a rough night I’ve been know to sleep till 8. Heaven for me

I also am staying up later than I did in the past. When I worked I was in bed by 9 with little time to read. Now I stay up till 11:00 if I’m reading a good book. Heaven again

I have some computer work and am doing an odd load of laundry. It’s a slow Sunday for me

Cathy … I have help starting next week, at least 3x a week so I can go to my exercise classes and go to the gym. They will be here 3 days to start with for 3-4 hours each day. I’m looking forward to spending time with my friends and being able to run errands by myself.

It takes me twice as long to go to the grocery store with him..think a 3 year old but he won’t fit into grocery cart so I can push him

Cathy… I just ordered a bidet from Amazon. It was suggested by some of my friends that are on an Alzheimer’s Facebook page to help with hygiene issues. This morning sweetie didn’t remember how to wipe his Hiney. Sometimes you just gotta laugh at this stuff, especially when I’m trying to demonstrate to him on myself how to wipe it.

I’ll let you know how it works. You just attach it to your commode seats real simple. There’s a video that shows you how to do it so you can either order one with a single spray or a double spray and I went ahead and ordered one with a double spray Since he’s a man and I figured that way I’ll keep him cleaner.

Last night he gave me a really hard time about putting his pajamas on, so I just got mad, got into bed and put the TV on and watch some TV. He finally came to bed. This morning when he got up, he came over to me. He said he was really sorry for the way he acted last night. He said it must’ve been the other guy. He knew it was really him. But now I have I can use that when he gets to one of his moods. I’m gonna ask him if he’s sweetie or the other guy something to laugh about.

LadyM when I was a teenager my stepmother would make me clean all the baseboards on the main floor (Living room, formal dining room, foyer, hallways, large eat-in kitchen and TV room/"den" and a powder room.) That took most of a Saturday after I had babysat my toddler half-brother and assisted in bringing in all the groceries and put them away. I really should have changed my legal name to Cinderella. (The after supper routine was clear the table, wash all the dishes, dry them all and put everything away, sweep the floor and then wash the floor on my hands and knees.) My stepmother overcooked everything so cleaning the pan that she cooked the meat in was always difficult. I really didn't realize that she was fairly drunk by the time supper went on to the table until I was a lot older and recognized how drunks did things while not showing how drunk they were.

RRose I'm happy that you have someone coming in to help. I usually get dh to push the cart. That way he doesn't randomly walk away to look at something. We went grocery shopping this morning. By the time we got home and I put everything away while he basically stood in one spot and looked at me, I was highly irked. He did the same thing at the grocery store. I filled 4 bags with our stuff while he looked at me. I've also noticed that he will push the cart into the store and stop and look all around as soon as he gets in the door. . Quite frequently there are numerous people behind him that all have to stop. I just grab the front of the cart and pull as I tell him to move so others can come in. Then he turns around to look at everybody. You are right. Child like but too big to fit in the cart. I asked dh if he wanted a bidet and he said no.

Cathy … I put my hand on the front of the cart and steer it too. That way we don’t crash into things. And also, sweetie is so slow now that it speeds them up a bit.

Well, dinner last night was not as bad as I feared. I had a good time - good dinner - and only had some pain toward the end of the meal, when I took some meds. And we were home by 9:30ish, no requests to stop off for a drink, thank goodness.

When we got home last night dMillie seemed sick. She went to sleep after a while, when I did, and seems fine today. She was restless with me, needing to be up close to me, and trembling and swallowing at times. And wanting to go out, then right back and staying right with me. I wonder if someone was shooting off fireworks before we got home, or something scared her? Another odd thing was that the ceiling fan in the bedroom was on high instead of where we keep in the winter, on low. Maybe it was separation anxiety. She's not a good eater, and hadn't eaten her breakfast yesterday which we left out until suppertime. Could something have gone bad?

Anyway, she seems fine today but I'll make an appointment, hopefully this week, for her to see the vet. (And she just ate her breakfast!(

I cleared away the kitchen counter where we've had Hanukkah cards, Christmas cards, and birthday cards, lol. Put a very few photo cards on the refrigerator and asked dh to pull out any he wanted to keep. So they are recycled. I kept the birthday card from dcousin and it will go upstairs.

Dh has a friend coming over this afternoon to drink bourbon - this is the guy who procured the bourbon I gave dh for his birthday. I'll have some time upstairs, probably will head up there soon in fact. Our supper is chili, I'll put some in the freezer too since dh isn't into leftovers, and I often skip my lunch. Dh has gone to the grocery for the ground beef. I'll need a grocery run or instacart by tomorrow or Tuesday but wasn't into making a list for him right now.

Our house looks pretty good. I straightened up MBR and bath, and washed up the George Foreman grill that's been on the counter since Friday. I reorganized the flowers in the house - enough still good for three somewhat random bouquets - kitchen counter by sink, breakfast table, and LR. These were from some the week before Christmas, some from dd's birthday flowers for me, and I think some from last week.
