Thunbergia alata, commonly called black-eyed Susan, is a herbaceous perennial climbing plant species in the family Acanthaceae. It is native to Eastern Africa, and has been naturalized in other parts of the world.

It is grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and in hanging baskets. The name 'Black-eyed Susan' is thought to have come from a character that figures in many traditional ballads and songs. In the Ballad of Black-eyed Susan by John Gay, Susan goes aboard a ship in-dock to ask the sailors where her lover Sweet William has gone. Black-eyed Susan is also a name given to other species of flowers in the genus Rudbeckia.

Thunbergia alata has a vine habit, and can grow to a height of 5 metres (16 ft) high in warmer zones, or much less as a container plant or as an annual. It has twining stems with heart or arrow-shaped leaves. The hairy, mostly orange-yellow flowers have five petals and appear throughout the growing season, .They typically are warm orange with a characteristic dark spot in the centre.

The plant flowers from mid-summer to the first frost, but it will flower all year round in milder, frostless climate zones.

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!

I never made it back yesterday, and I need to CUOP. DF CW's fridge freezer install took far longer than I had anticipated (all.of CW's appliances.are integrated, so it's.not just a case of "old.one.out, new one in" , but the old appliance has tonne detached from the integrated door,.and the new one carefully attached, using g all the bags of hi ges and screws that come with the appliance. Fortunately the engineer was very methodical and laid everything out on the worktop in an organised fashion to check every was present and correct. And, of course, you have to ensure that the doors lo e up properly. But it does look very impressive now it's done. :D

Today I have church as usual and a podiatrist appointment in the afternoon. I also need to text MJ about the cabinet -he texted me yesterday, but I needed to talk to DH about days that are convenient for him -the cabinet is in the spare room,so it's best if the banging and sawing take place when DH is working at the office! But by the time we'd talked about that, it was really too late to text. So that's a priority for today.

couldn't watch a movie while mending dniece's insulated ski pants due to Internet down. Fortunately, I don't have Verizon, so at least my cell phone is working! ( Verizon has a huge, nationwide outage today, across the entire US). Her pants are mended. Best I could do, wish I could have done better.
They'll probably get into the mail Friday, I'll get them ready after I get home tomorrow.
I don't like the local, regional, national, or world news, so I'm turning on classical music and going to sleep.[color]

☀️ Good morning, glories!

Doggedly, and you can bet when new tadas pop up I want full credit for doing them lol.

New name for a familiar flower, Kittykatt. And why I won’t take a master gardener workshop, bc I will never remember all the proper names vs common names.
The fridge/freezer install sounds complicated so I’m glad it’s done with.
Enjoy your day.

Gma, sweet dreams.

Hi LAnn.

You could try writing just the best of what you remember, Bama. Strange things - even more reason to write them down. A couple events unfolded after the trial in such a way that made me think of the saying: Truth is stranger than fiction.
I don't like the news either, Gma. I only read or listen when I'm in the right place emotionally. That's nice of you to mend your niece's ski pants.
I hope church was rejuvenating, Kitty, and the appointment this afternoon is quick and easy!
How's the weather where you are, L Ann? I see you went for a walk outside.

We have about 5-6 inches of snow on the ground. It's very pretty! Dh is out snowblowing our driveway. The pest control guy is here. Amazingly, he got here from a suburb of the big city by 8:15 a.m. He said roads were not good. He's got a big truck, so he was OK.

Last night, I sent a short but direct email to the trustee as it's been a week since I last emailed her. I haven't heard from her since Dec. 10. The lawyer hasn't heard from her since November, and no appointment has been made with the lawyer. She doesn't have to work with the lawyer, I guess, but this lawyer holds my mom's will and the original copy of the trust. Maybe the trustee has a copy of the trust?? I'm following dh's advice on how to approach this since he has lots of corporate (high-tech companies) experience.

Today: I'm meeting SS for coffee in 1:10. I'll stop by the bank while I'm out and about. AS has moved my work out session with him to 4 pm. This afternoon, I'll try to get caught up on some things: towel and sheet laundry, some emails, remaking guest beds. Dinner will be leftover quinoa taco bowls from the freezer (the rice will be fresh as dh doesn't like leftover rice) and green salad. We need to eat early bc dh is meeting with the ex- senior pastor of the previous church, the one that was blown apart - he was part of the damage. He eventually left the church without having another job to go to, that's how bad it was for him. A lot of church news has focused on pastors with issues; I know of a couple churches where the elder board is the main problem, not the pastors. Anyhow, dh and GB are meeting at 7 pm  we need to eat early.

Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe shower

Later:
- some qt
- finish reclaiming kitchen
- 9:50 otd
- 10 - 11:30ish coffee with SS
- bank
- lunch
- email: ML, K's mom (dniece's friend)
- fold and p/a sheets and towels
- remake guest beds
- writing 1 hour
- go for a walk?
- bring in firewood
- 4-5 work out with AS
- dinner: quinoa taco bowls, green salad, toppings (fresh cilantro, cheese, avocado)
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- health apps: WW, MFP, Finch
- read for fun
- maybe, restart knitting project
- other things?

TaDas!
- up; weighed self -- big jump up. Why? :(
- coffee
- quinoa out of the freezer
- email deletions + weather website
- pest control guy here - he got 1 more flying squirrel.

Good morning!
helia is my weather twin:) Unfortunately, we don't have a snowblower... so it's ALL MINE
Bama - I'm sure you know plenty about gardening:)
LAnn - WTG on keeping up with the exercises and walking
Black eyed Susan is one of my favourites, Kittykatt - thanks for all the pretty flower images:)

VERY cold out. I Let pup run in the snow, but she quickly returned to the door to get inside

Today's goals (or priorities) have just changed:
there is the snow to deal with.
there is a credit card issue to deal with: they messaged me in the middle of the night that they found (my) purchase suspicious.... (I lost 2 hours sleep thanks to them, then slept in  )
I have an appt at 1 p.m. (walking distance)
Hope to do gym at 5 - if things get cleared up
laundry ...
e-mails
bill payments

off to D2S and get started.

(Without Internet, I have to use my phone to post, which I don't like)
Helia, have you considered a certified letter through US Postal Service, with signature required?
I'm back in bed, under warm covers. It's cold out. I should try to get something done before leaving to take friend to the specialist
I have 75 minutes, that includes getting dressed.
