Adam Smith (baptised 16 June [O.S. 5 June] 1723 – 17 July 1790) was a Scottish[a] economist and philosopher who was a pioneer in the field of political economy and key figure during the Scottish Enlightenment Seen by many as the "father of economics" or the "father of capitalism", he is primarily known for two classic works: The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759) and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (1776). The latter, often abbreviated as The Wealth of Nations, is regarded as his magnum opus, marking the inception of modern economic scholarship as a comprehensive system and an academic discipline.

Smith refuses to explain the distribution of wealth and power in terms of divine will and instead appeals to natural, political, social, economic, legal, environmental and technological factors, as well as the interactions among them. The work is notable for its contribution to economic theory, particularly in its exposition of the concept of absolute advantage.

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

Happy Sunday Kittykatt, thanks for the start, have a good time at church and with your DF E. I remember Adam Smith from economics classes.

Grey day, rain is back. I'm glad I walked for more than two hours yesterday. Last day at home before we leave for our 6-day trip, next Saturday, for a visit to (notD)InLaws then 3 days of ski. Much planning still needed, we couldn't buy part of the ski gear we need so we need to plan a late-evening shopping trip during the week. Yes, stores are closed on Sundays in France. Ski boots for the four of us, eye masks for the kids, and various items. I have a list but it's not up-to-date.
Also the regular tasks need to be done. No homework, since kids have a 2-week school break. Some cooking ahead for the week, as MrNG is in training an hour away on Wednesday and in another city further away on Thu-Fri, he will sleep there with other trainees at a shared airbnb on Thursday night.

TADAs
dw emptied
all up, most fed
boys are alternating 20 minutes in turns on MineCraft (well the Linux equivalent)
read a bit
MrNG worked for a while on one of his paid contracts
he's now cleaning the pellet stove

TODO
cook for lunch
cook ahead for payroll meals
maybe bake something quick
some cleaning : upstairs bathroom, downstairs bathroom
later
admin stuff I dontwanna face
ski trip, and trip, organisation
bag ski gear lent by coworker that we won't use, into car
also
vacuum both upstairs bedrooms
at least 5 minutes cleaning my car ? it looks horribly dirty
time to relax
some movement
also
cook ahead : tartiflette, dhal
declutter the entrance (ski gear, piles from last decluttering session, "normal" clutter)
dinner and cleanup
check weekly list
make new list for next week
bedtime routines, bed early

Is the time for the break a fixed time of the year, Frenchie? Selfishly wondering cause skiing in France is also an option for us in the coming years, but I wouldn't want to fight the French school kids on the lifts :-)
kittykatt, I remember Adam Smith from my economy classes!

DH checked the paints in the attic and we don't have enough, so he'll have to get some more. His other weekend project - attaching the shelf for the rooftop box in the garage - also needs something (chemical anchor, I think, is the English term? it's a thingie you inject into honeycomb bricks if you need more "oomph" for the wall anchor), so if he is to keep himself busy, off he has to go :-)

trissie the winter break schedule is known many months in advance, so if you book your trip by August or September you can already know. But France is divided in three "zones" and the two-week break starts for each zone at one week intervals. So the whole break is spread over 4 weeks. I'll be happy to help with this. I think the prices will be substantially lower if you can manage to book your stay outside of those 4 weeks. And there may be fewer people, short waiting time, and other. On the other hand you have to be careful if you want a children daycare service or group lessons for your kids.
Congrats on defrosting your freezer !

Hi L.Ann ! Thanks for sharing your weekly menus !

Here are our upcoming dinners :
Sunday - tartiflette (a kind of cheesy potato gratin)
Monday - red lentil dhal with spinach
Tuesday - Chinese new year, I'll make spring rolls, and serve with store-bought fried rice
Wednesday - cauliflower gratin
Thursday - gnocchi with broccoli mushrooms and carrots, and ham for the kids

MrNG is trying on ski helmets with the boys so we can return my work colleague part of the ski gear he offered me to borrow. I made and froze 5 payroll lunches.
It hasn't stopped raining - or maybe it was drizzling for a bit before it rained again.

TADAs
baked chocolate cake with DS10
made garlic mayonnaise with DS7
lunch cooked and eaten, MrNG helped cleaning up
some payroll lunches made and frozen
had 10 minutes to read by the pellet stove

TODO
some cleaning : upstairs bathroom, downstairs bathroom
admin stuff I dontwanna face
ski trip, and trip, organisation
bag ski gear lent by coworker that we won't use, into car
also
vacuum both upstairs bedrooms
at least 5 minutes cleaning my car ? it looks horribly dirty
time to relax
some movement
also
cook ahead : tartiflette, dhal
declutter the entrance (ski gear, piles from last decluttering session, "normal" clutter)
dinner and cleanup
email to DM ?
check weekly list
make new list for next week

I don't remember Adam Smith but I probably should. LOL!

Hope you had a good morning at church and a scrumptious lunch, Kitty.
The ski part of your trip sounds fun, FFB! Do you all wear helmets? --Oh, I see Mr NG is working on that with your boys. We were once somewhere in Europe during the school year, maybe NL, and we noticed many French families. I had wondered if it was a school break for them.
trissie, to answer your question from yesterday (I think?), I suspect temps will get cooler again -- but not to the level we had for a couple weeks where the highs were in the single digits to low teens Fahrenheit, and even occasionally below 0 Fahrenheit. Were you unable to finish painting the kitchen yesterday? Good luck to your dh!
Good morning L Ann! Enjoy the walk with a friend.

It is sunny today, already 29F. The high is forecast to be 49F. ☀️ Then, we'll have highs in the 50s for 4 days. 8-) But - with some rain.

Today: Dh left around 7:15 a.m. to catch his flight for a work trip to SF. That means less cooking for me this week. I do miss him when he's gone, though. After church this morning, I'd like to go for a walk and enjoy the sunshine. :D Maybe I'll see if dd27 wants to walk Fable with me. I also still need to finish the NY cards. Towel and sheet laundry and clean sheets on the bed would also be great. 6 pm, I think I'm hosting Sunday dinner? M usually heats up food for us; we don't really cook. I'll help her since there's no CG2 today. Then, we're scheduled to have a family zoom call at 8:15. I'll confirm and set up the zoom room since dh can't participate.

Next:
- back exercises
- finish spiffing self
- reclaim kitchen
