Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start and reminder to KISS.

I tried a new-to-me bedtime routine last night which resulted in getting better and more sleep. Was it coincidence or causation? I'll be experimenting with it to find out.

DD14 went to visit DD49 last night. It has been over a month since they have seen each other, so I am pleased this is happening.

DS17 found himself a new job yesterday and once it was confirmed then he went and gave notice at his current job. He is so excited to be working outdoors again. He has come to hate his current indoor job because when there are no customers they have nothing to do. This down time can go on for hours. DS17 isn't a fan sitting around, playing online gambling or doing weed which is how his boss and coworkers spent their down time. He has been talking to many people about working for them but the answer was always the same. He is told "We don't have much going on during the winter - come see us in the spring." He has received 2 job offers for the day he turns 18 years old but those won't do him any good for the next 6 months. ANYway, he is looking forward to next week and starting his new job.
What will DS17 be doing? Whatever his boss tells him to do! He is fairly certain it will be outdoors, so he is open to doing whatever. His boss has a ranch, has a welding shop, and does construction. He most recent project was designing & building a houseboat which he sold for just shy of a million $.

I spent some time chatting with ai to create a plan for 12 adventures within an hour drive. Once we aren't doing twice a day school drop off/pickup I want to take some mini adventures.

I have some cereal that the kids thought they would eat, but turned out they don't like cold cereal. What do with it? hum...I'm remembering years ago that I would make Raisin Bran Muffins recipe that stayed in the refrigerator for extended period of time. It was easy to pull out the mixture and cook muffins. Hum... I would prefer more along the line of cookie shape instead of muffins.

We're a quiet bunch today. I spent the day yesterday playing in my craft/stamping stuff. I went to the directions for several "fun fold" cards and made myself templates so I can remember the process and dimensions without referring to my computer. Was fun, and I made a few cards too. Felt like play...

I've walked dog and done a.m. routine and am back upstairs. I am enjoying having the house all alone so much. I ordered myself a small pizza last night - I know dh eats pizza out sometimes but we rarely have it at home, which means I rarely eat it. So I treated myself to it, only it's not that great anymore, lol. Then I didn't sleep well the first part of the night - perhaps the pizza. Ddog was up at 1 a.m. to go out and then again at 2:30. She was insistent the second time, I took awhile to respond to her. I think it was raining, which was good because that means she won't stay out long.

So I slept in this morning. I'm running the roomba downstairs today - for some reason it didn't do the entire downstairs last Monday.

I think I'm going to play some more today.

Hey, Twins, LadyM, and whoever comes after! Looks like a slow day here -- our SHEs must be out and about!

I was out and about -- just got back from a trip to the computer store with DD. She didn't really need me much -- just to be the licensed driver in the car with her, and I was able to help her explain herself to the salesman (she wanted a numeric keypad and just called it "the extra keys"). She drove, she paid, like the adult that she is (I have to remind myself sometimes). She also picked up an impulse buy when she was in line. The store has among its clientele computer hobbyists, and in the area near the checkout, they seem to have added items for other hobbies, too. DD got a kit to build one of those miniature rooms; there were some Lego kits as well, and more things I didn't really pay attention to. She's already working on the kit.

I did not make my soup last night; I instead did the stack of dishes that needed doing so I could clear space in the kitchen. I did all the slicing this morning, and once I am through here, I will do the cooking. It is a pureed vegetable soup, so you need to slice up the vegetables fairly small so they will blend easily. And I'm making a double batch, so it was a lot of slicing. I took my laptop into the kitchen with me so I could watch the women's curling (congratulations to Canada on the bronze medal), and I just now picked a smidgen of leek out of the keyboard.

Congratulations to your DS17 on his new job, LadyM! I'm glad he found something more to his liking, and far better than hanging around pot and gambling all day. I hope you enjoy your adventures. Speaking of such, I just saw an Oklahoma license plate on the way home from the computer store. (We "collect" license plates -- have a map for each year (July to July) where we color in the states as we see them. Most years, we get every state but Hawaii, but last year, we got them all! Anyhow, we only take one or two big trips a year, but since we regularly drive on a coast-to-coast interstate, we can usually pick up most just on our day-to-day travels. Usually the holdouts are Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and the Dakotas, but this year it has been Oklahoma and Nebraska. So I was very happy to see Oklahoma just now. Don't know why the Nebraskans aren't out on the road -- too busy husking corn, I guess!

Time to cook the soup! I've got enough time to cook it without being nervous about making my deadline. I have to pick dFriend K about 3:30. We are not planning on staying late. The weather is good enough that I can park on the street and not have to worry about getting parked in the driveway. I told K that sometimes it feels like I'm being held hostage on girls' night when it just goes on too long. Anyhow, you folks have a great day, and I hope all our folks who are out and about are having a great day, too!

With a simple search for Raisin Bran in Onenote I found the recipe that I tweaked to perfection in 2014. WOW! Is it good! Instead of muffins i just put a spoonful of the batter on parchment paper and baked for 8 minutes in the air fryer. This is just too simple.
Too simple. Taste incredible. = Eating more than I should.

DS52 and DGD15 called while they were traveling on the road. They just picked up DGD15 new car in Kansas City and are bringing it to their home. DGS15 has her permit but won't have her license for another 10 months so she can't be the one behind the wheel when it is in self driving mode. IMHO the laws need to catch up with technology. Using full self-driving is most likely MUCH safer than a teenager driver behind the wheel.

WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!! Canadian Men's curling team just won the gold medal!! Great Britain's men's curling team is the best in the world, but today they only got the silver. It was an edge of the seat game for sure. Dh also watched the women's curling. I was in bed sleeping.

I struggled through instructions to make a fancy card and at the end accidently cut the front edge with scissors when I was trimming a bit of linen thread embellishment. Now that it's together, I can see how it works. https://stampwithlaurie.com/my-swing-fun-fold-card/

Dog is walked, two laps. It was a struggle because she pooped three times, very wet every time, and wanted to sniff everything. I still need about a thousand steps today.

I have a load going in the washing machine. Supper is heating in the oven. We are trying scalloped potatoes that I didn't make. They were on sale for $3 off, so I decided we should try them and see if we like them. We will also be having green beans from the garden and ham steaks.

Other than that and going out earlier to pick up some sliced meats along with the ham steaks and the scalloped potatoes, I'm not doing much.

It's slightly windy here, overcast but 4 Celcius above 0 and snow is melting slowly. The entire patio is now clear other than a bit in a shady area. Most of the driveway is also clear other than where the snowblower pile is along the north fence.

Only 1 cat went outside today.

I slept till daylite after being up late on Friday binge watching net flicks.
Did the dishes today.

Waiting for the frost to melt & warm up before my walk...
still waiting for it to hi the high temp today.
So gave up on that and did some time on the stat bike.
Got my knitting up to 12" now yea!

Chopped up some items to go in my wrap for meal later.
I've been watching the neighbors haul off stuff, the grand daughter inherited the place last summer.
They have been sorting things since then.

I did a thing.
Have you ever heard of flaxseed hair gel?
Apparently, it is going viral in some groups. it is a chemical free no fragrance hair gel.
So....I decided to try it.
Super simple to make. 1/4 cup of flaxseed and 2 cups of water. Boil it until it starts to foam then strain the seeds out and let it cool. It starts out as liquid but as it cools it becomes a gel.

Apply it to wet/damp hair, style or just let dry naturally.
I put it on my hair but only one side so I could compare to untreated other side of hair. After it dried I was impressed enough to use it all over my hair.
I will be experimenting with it this week to find out if it needs to be reapplied daily or if it will last until next time I wash my hair.
