Up in the nite I hear an owl.

Re: LucyL. Q. on roofing LH wanted to do a tin or metal roof b/c it was cheaper.
None around me have metal roofs. They do have more noise when it rains or hails.
I went with a shingle roof. My dad was a contractor and so was my sil and DD and I got input from them.
My dsis had one and thinks for the south it's better b/c hail beats up the shingles there.

Got some forms in the mail that seem suspect.

Watched next flex. last nite.
I seem to be in a better mood than yesterday afternoon re: J & C thread request.

Glad I did up the dishes last evening.
I might need to do some catch up on BWP / or should who knows if I will,
Floors sheets & bathrooms are on the to do's.
I did not make soup yesterday might do that as well.

Up in the nite. Feeling uncomfortable, I guess.

Convinced I was awakened by the heat having that dry dusty smell. Not sure. Walked all around the house to make sure I wasn't smelling anything else. I wonder if we should have been using a room-type humidifier this winter as we sometimes have before. Or, perhaps I'm just reacting to the new med and feeling dry and hot. I drank some water.

(Nancy, I hope you are back on your schedule and sleeping happily away by now. Owls always think everyone wants to hear their opinions.)

Also, I had a teary meltdown in the evening because I'd worked all day on a part of the quilt top and made a wrong cut right at the end. What a silly goose - is that hormonal? Or did I let myself get tired... .. Of course it's fixable. Poor HRH kept trying to snap me out of it promising to sew it right up for me and fix it, lol. When I asked him if I seemed hormonal, he said well of course then the answer is that we should have another baby, so I laughed and cried at the same time. I was already thinking of fixes for the fabric, and he was pointing out similar concepts not long after I thought of them, so he must have listened to me all these years.

Twins', there are ways to make it look as though I meant to do that, lol. I definitely thought of you - isn't that awful to say you thought of someone when you were having a teary, silly meltdown?

I didn't get to Catch Up On Posts completely, but did see there was a hail storm - yipes.
lucylee, so sweet ds scratching his head over the hail damage. Wise decisions will come. And there are not really any CD police - everyone goes into that agreement knowing it may be wiser financially to change their minds later on.

Okay, it's going to be a Fun Friday, right? so I'd better get ready.

Better get back in that bed and assume I can get some sleep.
We take the taxes to the preparer tomorrow and HRH says we're going out to lunch and he's just going to keep driving until I tell him where I want to eat rather than saying, "I don't know, what would YOU like?", which is what both of us always say.

I too am up extra early, hubby got up at 5 so we can leave early around 4 or so for Chicago. I must get packing this morning. It should be a fun weekend.

Yesterday we had 1 inch wet snow in morning and sunny and 50 degrees in afternoon.

Payday so will pay bills today.

I will do my Bible study, I have to do 2 weeks worth for this week so we don't stretch into June. I an in a 4 year program called Education for ministry. I am in year 2 on New Testament. Last year was old testament. We meet 1 to 3:30 online each Sunday. I will be joining on drive home. They added a 5th year called Wide Angle which overviews all 4 years in one.

What is on everyone's weekend schedule?

Hi!

We are expecting a phone call from dh's regular doctor this afternoon. Topic of discussion will be whether or not to keep going with nurses putting absorbent pads on dh's calves and should he wear comp. socks? Dh's legs are getting bigger and more angry/red looking. He said this morning that the outer side of his right calve feels like it is burning. Sigh....

PSW is coming at 11.

Dh wants Chinese for supper.

There is a sink full of dirty dishes waiting to go into dishwasher. Other than that, I don't think there is anything for me to do.

Carpenter has already been out here with ds... he seems relieved it is not worse than he feared. Says sometimes things like this happen as a house settles and roofing nails work their way loose. He will be back soon to go up on the roof on the outside and see what he can find.
He suggests I contact one of the places we see on tv doing a spray on roof restoration. Have any of you seen that? RoofMaxx I think is a nationwide chain. I filled out a form online and they will contact me. They are supposed to give you 5-10 additional years after they renew your asphalt shingles.
Dmom had mentioned this to me also. But I wonder if we are too far gone now. Carpenter says there are no missing shingles that he can see, so it is worth getting a price from them.
I just feel like I might throw up.

Harriet, there may not be CD police, but there is a penalty for early withdrawal. It is just really upsetting to have to make all these decisions on my own.

Nancy, the metal roofs around here are generally more expensive, from what I've been told. And the carpenter just told me that he had heard "good things" about the people who did dmom's. Then I looked them up and they have a BBB rating of A+. THEN I see the only review, and man says he is so upset with them that he wouldn't let them put a roof on his doghouse!!! EEEEK!!! But dmom had them do metal, on top of her old asphalt. This man who is complaining may have done asphalt shingles, because the company does both. I'd say about a third of the houses around here are going to metal. My dad had a metal roof put on my grandparents' house before he (ddad) died. Dmom is actually disappointed that she doesn't hear the rain on her metal roof; probably because it is on top of the shingles, but that does seem to give an extra layer of protection, I guess.

Costumelady, what are ya'll doing in Chicago this weekend?

We have a busy weekend I'm afraid - I guess it makes up for last week when dh was away? Dinner out tonight with neighbors, a Rotary social tomorrow night (at least it's at a nice club!) and seeing A and V on Sunday.

So sorry for the teary meltdown, Harriet. Probably you were tired I suspect, or feeling more confident and let your guard down? I think I've just put that card aside to use as a template going forward. It sure was complex.

Hailstorm, Lucylee? I saw there were storms to the south of us. We might have gotten a little rain but nothing else. It's so early for that kind of weather to be happening in the south. Hoping you can get the roof fixed up without delay.

Nancy, I must have missed J and C, I'll head over there to check it out.

I got through the meeting last night hopefully w/o putting my foot in my mouth. Focused more on budgeting for an interim rabbi and the search committee/relocation costs, instead of the fact that our revenue is running far behind where we should be. It was over by 7ish, ddog had been barking almost incessantly downstairs while I was upstairs, so I came on down for the evening.

I'm disappointed in my research ATM. I thought I had a good lead yesterday - a Mitchell surname person who married in to a Keith family who was associated with Harpers. Unfortunately, I was remembering wrong - those Keiths were associated with the unrelated Knox Co Harper family, not mine. So feeling a bit discouraged with my research.

Good morning!

I have to leave in less than an hour to have a tooth pulled. I'm a bit nervous about it. I shouldn't be -- I had one extracted before, and it wasn't too bad. However, this time, I am having the bone graft needed to be able to put in an implant later; the previous tooth was right at the back, so it didn't really need replacing. However, the dentist said this one should be replaced to keep things from shifting. Anyhow, I'm not sure how different it will be. I am planning to go somewhere for a milkshake or smoothie afterward because it's too early to have lunch now, but I'll probably be both ravenous and unable to eat much when I'm done.

The county finally called DD back -- they do have her paperwork and will process it. But clearly, they are understaffed if you can enter the phone queue one morning and not hear back till the next.

Yesterday, I filled two large boxes with items -- mostly clothes -- to be taken to the thrift store, so that was my big ta-da.

When I get home from the oral surgeon, my plan is to finally get my master list reworked. I've been putting it off while trying to finish things on the old list. I need to find out where DC stands with scheduling road lessons, and then I'm good to go with the new list.

I hope you've gotten some sleep, Nancy. We're accustomed to having you here early, but that was a bit much, I think. You, too, Harriet! I hope things feel better after a night's rest.

Wow Lucylee - 4 inches of hail!!! I can't even imagine that but I am so sorry your roof got damaged. If you get that kind of hail maybe a metal roof is a good idea. You might be able to finance it until your CD matures. I love your positive turn around and counting your blessings, that is the way I try to deal with mad news. Good your car didn't get damaged too and your DS is amazing. Are you 65 yet? I turn 62 in 2 months from yesterday. I am planning on starting my Social Security early instead of waiting until I am 67. My husband the spread sheet king, did a spread sheet and I would have to live to 85 before it would be a loss of money. Now I really hope I do live that long and by then I will be fine on money but I do not come from long stock so going to use it now. Hubby is too but he does come from long stock but we both are just ready to retire and travel and do other things. Wuthering heights is one of my favorite books- was this a new movie of it? There is an old movie of it that I liked well enough. The book is better and the movie in my head is always better than what is on screen. Glad you had good times at the movies.

I belong to the Episcopal Church but I have gone to Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Evangelical Christian, Pentecostal, because either I was searching or had family members or best friends over the years in those churches so I have attended multiple times in all of them. I always come back to the Episcopal Church though.

I decided after posting to go back to sleep for 2 hours this morning - it was glorious. Sounds like Nancy did too.

My little dog Max, has arthritis so is on a monthly shot to help that that won't damage his liver which he is also on medicine for. He is feeling a bit better but did not eat his dinner at all which is unusual.

We are going to Chicago for 2 nights to go to the theater for 2 shows tomorrow at Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier, we are seeing Hamnet and Hamlet - we enjoy Shakespeare quite a bit. I used to run a community theater that did Shakespeare in the Park each year and I have directed like 4 or 5 things. My oldest son was in youth Shakespeare from age 10 to age 18 as well as acted in the park. He got to be the lead in the Scottish Play, Romeo, and many other leads but those were his 2 big roles. He is an equity Stage manager now in the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

MysteryWoman - good luck on the tooth pulling, may your pain be manageable.

Must head into work but I got packed and I will bolt out right at 3:30 so I can get home. S2S and washed hair too. Have a good weekend, I may check in on car ride up- it is a 4 hour drive for us. We are stopping at HuHot our favorite asian grill in Lafayette to keep us out of Chicago rush hour traffic. We stay at the Blake when we go to Chicago as we are Blue Green owners. They offered us free valet this trip. Usually we park by airport and take the train in so this will be a treat.
