Toulouse-Lautrec Tuesday
Comte Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Montfa (24 November 1864 – 9 September 1901), known as Toulouse-Lautrec , was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman, caricaturist, and illustrator. Born into the aristocracy, Toulouse-Lautrec broke both his legs during adolescence, leaving him with a stunted appearance.
Like Claude Monet, Lautrec was known for his cooking. Culinary historian Alexandra Leaf highlights Monet and Lautrec as the two "most serious gourmets" among their peers. Lautrec's love for cooking stemmed from his family upbringing and early childhood, where he first learned culinary values. Before he became widely known as a painter, he was called "Henri the cook" by his cousins.
Lautrec's immersion in the colourful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce popular works of art , which record details of the late-19th-century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Dogged, those clothes hangers can be very vicious!
Laura, my DF PL, who helps set up care packages.for elderly/ disabled / vulnerable people, often meets resistance, and an "I can manage" outlook. She would sit down with them and gently tell them that if they would only accept the package (this could range from personal care to meals on wheels, to cleaning) then it would leave them more time and energy to do the things that they enjoyed and really mattered to them. Do you think this approach might work with your DDad, and persuade him to have the cleaning lady back?
Today we are up early, as the broadband engineer is supposed to be coming.at 8 am to install the new kit. (DH is perfectly capable of doing this himself, but We offer a free instal appointment, so I thought, why not? This engineer does this kind of thing day in and day out, so it should be faster and less stressful!) . I need DH around as he understands all the tech bits, whereas I would be the one who said something like, "We have a blue cable?"!! Also,.am early appointment will hopefully mean less disruption to DH's working day.
The old kit has to be posted back (free of charge) but May, but I'd like to get it out the house and on its way ASAP. I should be able to drop it off at our community post office on Thursday afternoon. DH has announced his ideas for exactly.how the boxes of old kit and the stray handset should be wrapped to form a neat parcel, so he has just got himself a job!

30 minutes on my response to DEFRA consultation ( they estimate it will take 4 hours. I've already read through the material and had a good think about some of the issues raised, so hopefully it will take less time, but I'm still allowing myself plenty of time. Responses have to be submitted by the end of March, but I dont want to leave it until the last minute!) #1#2#3#4#5#6#7#8

Think about what I'm going to grow in *that* patch, which is sloping and shaded now the climbing hydrangea is gone. Montbretia at the back are fine, with supports so they don't flop everywhere, and I can keep an eye on them to make sure they dont spread into everything. There is a hardy geranium that's looking sad, but it might do better with less competition and more light? Maybe I could just sow some low growing hardy annuals and see what happens?

It's 8.30 am, and the engineer has been, installed the new kit and we're up and running once more.
DH was very impressed with how smoothly it went. The engineer was also able to check our system and pronounce everything in is healthy and running smoothly, so I'm optimistic our transition will seamless. DH has still to set up the rest of the devices (he did both our phones and his work laptop first), but he's very capable of doing that, even though the printer and the box thingy for the TV can be somewhat recalcitrant!

Glad everything went smoothly with the engineer Kitty. You know, yesterday I thought there was a workman coming to install a new "kitchen" but perhaps "kitchen" was mixed up with the word "kit". I did not know Loutrec and Monet were gourmet cooks!

It is dark. I'm up early for me bc the weekly get together with J, K, and S2 is happening at 9 this morning. That means I need to be fully prepped for class beforehand. I did make my own exam and a practice exam yesterday. I also graded the projects turned in; there's one more I'm not sure about. The S said she was going to do a different article but never turned in an alternative.
Yesterday was fairly productive. Highlights: I finished unpacking, ran and unloaded the dw, attended a payroll online meeting, went to WF, went for a jog, made my AR final exam (finished exam prep), made a practice final exam, put a decent meal on the table with leftover lentil soup, emailed Mom's CPAs, and replied to SC re: Anglican church plant.
Today will be fairly busy too. I will finish prep for class, do a last read through of 2 exams, meet with K, S2, and J at 9 a.m., teach 11-1, get groceries for T dinner crew (this may involve going to 2 grocery store), pick up my prescription, perhaps put docs in the mail to CPAs (once I get the address confirmed). Some physical activity, like a walk or even a jog, would be good. I also need to order a wedding gift for V and J and set up giving for new ministry. Laundry is piling up but I'm not sure I can get to it today. I will do a little house spiffing and help dh cook in preparation to host Tuesday dinner. Dd30 has been inviting her friends, and it's not clear how many are coming. It way be 6 of us -- or maybe 8?

I have DLittleGD coming at noon. I'll walk her to her activity then.
I will have a weight class tonight.
In between, I'll try to get some work done. Beds need changing... WHB should get done...
