Make a Note, Erase Mistakes Monday, PWYC

Post by Harriet »

It's Pencil Day, marking the invention of the modern pencil.
On this day in 1858, Hymen Lipman received the first patent for attaching an eraser to the end of a pencil. Pencil Day has been celebrated since the early 1970s, acknowledging that the erasing can be vital. :)

During World War II, Cumberland Pencil Company out of Kenswick, England produced pencils that were designed to function. However, the pencils were hollow with graphite on either end. Between the graphite, the makers had stowed maps to aid captured military personnel in their escape to freedom. Charles Fraser Smith designed them in 1942 and at night, when the factory closed, workers would assemble them under secrecy. The miniature maps detailed escape routes from prisoner of war camps and also included a miniature compass. Throughout the war, these small tools were issued to members of the Royal Airforce and sent to POW camps.

What is important enough to you today that you will make notes about it?

If you make a mistake today, remember that eraser on our pencils - encouraging us to try, try again!

Morning…

Harriet … pencils were the only writing tool used when the astronauts first traveled into space because gravity would effect their ability to write unlike ink

Walked snickel Fritz… German for mischievous child, went to class, started my morning routines and picked up my footprints

I have desk work to do today so that will be my focus.

Love the start for today, Harriet. I'm still trying to ease into re-entry here. I slept until 8 and have puttered and played since. I do have suitcase mostly unpacked and laundry sorted, and a load going to hang up. I'm limited by my hanging space right now.

I need to s2s soon. I was able to schedule body work for 3 p.m., he suggested 10 a.m. because he knows I like morning, but I wasn't up for 10 on a Monday a.m. and neither was he. So 3 it is.

Not sure about supper today, dh has gone to a chiropracter appt - perhaps we'll go out to eat.

I should run the roomba today, do what I can with laundry. Dh had a lot of his already. So it's a kind of catch up day. I have my planner open for my notes, to keep the theme going. I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed with things to do - i.e. tax return, spring stuff, research, an HOA check...blah blah blah.

And I remember the "Space age" pens that were supposed to flow without gravity - wasn't that a thing in the 60s or 70s?

I am up 36* /46* today's temps.
some journaling happened I can use yesterdays list or just restart with D's & BWP for the week.
Had dev. egg & coffee.
Strip sheets off bed is next I think.
Waving to all who follow.

Now I know it's great to pretend people might come to motivate for cleaning & prep.
Dson successfully gave my mower a tune up and I made out a card with info. of parts # and date of completion
for future reference. We took pic of old parts like spark plug, air cleaner for reference he got those parts and changed
oil in it too. So happy now to wait for lawn to dry and better weather and I can do my 1st mowing in the back yard.
Learned the going rate is $50 a week for lawn maintenance for reference. I count that as part of my weekly exercise regimen.
I can put that info. in my gardening journal. I need to get a plant wish list on paper too.

Tried to reactivate a w-mart account unsuccessfully. sigh.

Have a great one ladies!

UGH. Another "AIR" from DAR on my documentation. I can't type what I want to say right now.

Good morning

After DS17 was launched to work and taking DD14 to school, then we made the 50 mile drive to get my bloodwork done. I choose to pay (usually over $100) to have blood drawn at DLO because they are so good at doing it. However, this morning the lady had to make 2 tries to get it done. I am a tiny bit peeved over that. If I wanted to be poked multiple times while they try to find a vein, then I could have had blood drawn by nurses at doc office which is only requires 10 miles of driving and doesn't cost me anything. Ohs well....life goes on.

After getting that done, we filled Odessey up with gas and shopped for fresh/cold/frozen food. $300 later we are well stocked. Mission accomplished.

Laundry is in progress.
First meal of the day is prepared, served and being enjoyed.

Note to self....DH has made a couple more mental changes. Last night he waved the local cop down and started telling him to be on the look out for some one that DH thought was a threat to society. Is he hallucinating? Today I discovered the best way for DH and I to walk parking lots & shop is to hold his hand. Otherwise, he slows down to a crawl speed.

Hi!

If it wasn't windy here, today would have been perfect for being outside. It is warm when you are out of the wind.

I have been to one stitching group. This afternoon I will be running some local errands.

After having 2 "big" meals we will be having soup and sandwiches tonight.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good afternoon! We got some good news this morning -- DD got a call asking for a couple of pieces of information, which she was able to provide, and was told that that she should get a letter approving her for Medicaid within 5 days. Then she can call the state hotline and choose a plan. It looks like there are two of the available plans that include all her doctors (well, the ones who take insurance), so she even has a choice. I will just be grateful when she's signed up. Heck, I would have been grateful if they declined her, just so she could finally get something on the exchanges. I've just found it nerve-wracking to have her not insured at all.

DD is fetching herself some lunch; I should do the same. I wanted to say thank you to those of you who post your various food choices here. I'm a bit overwhelmed trying to find things that will give me the appropriate amounts of protein and fiber, and seeing the things you have help me to consider things that might not otherwise occur to me.

Finally finishing up the grocery list today. I'm not sure if DH will shop it or if I will put in an order; I guess I'll check with DH once the list is finished.

The clock, radio, and various apps cannot seem to agree on what temperature it is here, but it's warm. Overcast, though. I should put air in my tires before it decides to rain.

I'm guessing "Additional Information Request," Twins?

Sorry to hear about the changes with your DH, LadyM.

3 L's next on my agenda: lunch, (shopping) list, and laundry!

Have a great day, everybody!

Good early afternoon. Pencils are the only way to do math precisely because of the eraser. Today is my Monday off. I was to have a massage but she is sick so moved me to Friday which is my last day of paid work. The hardscape landscaper is coming at 3 to give me an estimate. Tonight we make an offer for 2 lots in our neighborhood - they are attached and can only build on one but it gives you a lot of land. We hope MS will build there someday iand if not we will either spec build a house and sell it or sell the land. We got a great deal on it.

Dh has gotten a software writing AI and together they have created a way to analyze all of our investments and look for trends and compare and he is doing a major flip of our investments. Probably going to frustrate our account agent. DH would like to move all of our investments to a plan he can self manage if he wants. Where we are currently, you have to call in but can't do it at like midnight. I would like us to all be under one umbrella to make it easier but currently he plans to keep it with the investment firm for work and the firm I use and he does for some IRA's is where it is. He does do far better when he manages the funds. That is what he did with whatever free time we had over the weekend which was not much. I was go go go on Saturday and Sunday until 4 pm Sunday and then I just collapsed on bed and put on silencers for 4 hours and vegged out.

I do tutor tonight at about 4:30 for 1.5 hours to 2 hours. I do need to create a worksheet for tonight. - we have been practicing so want a review sheet on what we have been practicing.

This is Holy Week, so busy Thursday night, Saturday night and Sunday through 2 services. I have bells tomorrow as well and I do tutor on Wednesday and Thursday but only going to tutor about an hour or hour and a half.
