Re: Soil Thermometer Thursday
A soil thermometer is a specialized tool used by gardeners and farmers to measure the temperature of soil or compost, ensuring it is optimal for planting, seed germination, and root development. Typically featuring a probe and a, usually red or green, top knob for visibility, they are used to determine when to plant and when to apply treatments like nematodes.
Key Usage Examples include:
Checking Soil Conditions: Ensuring soil is warm enough to plant seeds,, particularly in early spring.
Monitoring Composts: Checking temperature for composting and seed propagation.
Applying Biological Controls: Identifying the correct soil temperatures (e.g., above 10°C) for applying nematodes or biocontrol agents,.
Planting Guidance: Evaluating if soil moisture and temperatures are ideal for root development and nutrient uptake.

Re: Soil Thermometer Thursday
Good morning Kittykatt! Looks like it's lonely at the top:)
Thanks for the start and education. I have never heard of a soil thermometer...
The thermometer for people seems to be getting a lot of use both in DD's and Dson's house... I'm hoping to avoid the flu...
Thanks for your kind words.
Exhausted after yesterday, fell asleep quickly despite a good book I'm reading. (My Friends)
Laundry piles still waiting, plus, winter stuff needs to be put away, others to be brought up from basement... Plenty to do.
We shall start with MR and see how today goes.
Weather is beautiful, I will make sure I get a little walk later.

Laura, certain breeds are just too stubborn for their own good.
Kittykatt, thanks for the start and I hope your day is going well.
Kitkat, I hope everyone is feeling better.
I’m up and need to get moving. Dh will be home early so we can go to a class this afternoon. I’d like to get some other stuff done while we are out so need to get my act together as soon as possible.
Enjoy your day!

Re: Soil Thermometer Thursday
A soil thermometer is a new one to me, Kitty. I hope you had a good morning at church. Good luck with your afternoon appointments.
kitkat, thank you for the reminder that I'm behind on laundry. I'm going for a walk later too, with my friend B.
What kind of class are you going to, Bama? Have a great day!
I didn't get back here yesterday. It was busy, mainly with payroll tasks and with no breaks between activities. I prepped, got myself ready, taught 11-1, had a conversation with teacher LH (it went fine), drove home and got a quick bit of lunch, went to work out with AS, stopped by home again bc I'd forgotten to empty the bin of plastic bags for recycling at Kroger, did a Kroger run, put everything away, drafted an email for the teachers to send to AC (she wanted it done by the end of the day), finished making the AK for the IR Exam and sent it off. Then, it was 5:30 -- and I was mentally done. I had dinner on my own (nice!) and then spent the evening struggling with Canva and making a draft of an infographic LH has requested. Interestingly, LH (one of the teachers) consistently makes more work for us. She's a great teacher but a bit nervous. I do like her a lot though.
Today will also be pretty scheduled. I have meetings at 11, 1, 2 (walking w. friend), and 6 pm. In between, I need to get some payroll done as there's a lot to do + my time to do payroll prep tomorrow morning has been shortened by an EPT interview at 9:40. (I'm out the door around 10:50 to go to payroll). It would be great to get some housework done too. Luckily, I'm on my own for dinner again. Dh is out again tonight to a "grading party" with his grad students for the exam he gave last night.
What I need to/ would really like to (depending on the task) accomplish by the end of today:
Payroll
- 11-12 campus academics check in meeting w. AC

- Make a quiz
Home
- clean sheets on the bed
- at least 1 lol washed
put away
Social
- 2ish walk with B in our neighborhood
- 6 pm help SS with ESL class
Next:
- some qt

Re: Soil Thermometer Thursday
Morning all . I'm late today. Slept till 615. I needed that I guess. Now I lost all my Morning qt.
Mostly I came to say yes Casper is stubborn. I fell in love with the sweet chatty teddybear personality and fluffy white coat. The person I got him from had an accidental litter cause they thought they had bought 2 males. Oops
. She loved the dogs too but I either skimmed over or didn't clue into tsled dog strength. I love him dearly but goodness I failed at training him. And I do need to let him run more and get moving walking more again.
Other thing I'm full of hope now for my shoulder and neck. My arm got so bad before we went away I could barely use it. Dd found us a sweet massage therapist up there. Helped loosen it a bit. And then we found a new physiotherapist. So next door to work. I can walk across the street. First appointment she loosened it and exercise was gentle small stretches and I think my neck snapped back in place. Yesterday was the first day in almost 2 weeks i did get a headache. Arm still hurts the wrong way but way better. Second appointment tomorrow morning. Maybe she can do something.
Hmm now I should be at work in an hour already. Gotta get moving
