The Rhode Island Red is an American breed of domestic chicken, and is the state bird of Rhode Island. It was developed there and in Massachusetts in the late nineteenth century, by cross-breeding birds of Oriental origin such as the Malay with brown Leghorn birds from Italy. It was originally bred a dual-purpose breed, raised both for meat and for eggs; but since about 1940, modern strains have been bred for their egg-laying abilities.

The color of the plumage of the traditional Rhode Island red ranges from a lustrous deep red to almost black; the tail is mostly black.:   The comb may be either single or rose-comb; it is vivid red, as are the earlobes and wattles. The beak is a reddish horn colour, the eyes are reddish bay, and the feet and legs are yellow, often with some red on the toes and sides of the shanks.

Rhode Island Reds have been used in the creation of many modern hybrid breeds.

I'll.confess.I cheated a little.with today's title, but the breeds I could find beginning with T were all fighting birds, and I wanted something that was less combative.to.start the day!😀

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt, and for another pretty chicken. We support poetic license with the names. ;)

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

kittykatt I don't think any one will blame you for the wording of your title. I can't think of more than 2 or 3 kinds of chicken in French and they all start with P (for poulet or poule) . I hope you have a good time this morning at church and with friends.

Dogged, sorry you had extra cleaning yesterday because of Germane. I hope you're asleep now.

Thinking of Gma, sorry about the damage due to the hail storm, it sounds like it will keep you busy for awhile, dealing with repairs and insurance and such.

Thinking of trissie, hoping for easy organisation in difficult times.

Glad kitkat's back is better.

Waving to all if I'm not back later today !

Another day off work, I'll work tomorrow and will probably have extra work to do because I was away. We have a sunny morning, both boys home, MrNG needs time to work on his consulting business stuff today. I'll take the kids to a sports shop for new shoes for DS7 and for a pack of table tennis balls to replace broken ones. We may do table tennis afterwards.

Yesterday's phone call for other job search was helpful... but not encouraging : I can't realistically apply for a type of job I was interested in, unless I get some kind of internship or short job experience in that area. Disappointed. But : those jobs don't pay as much as what I earn at current displeasing job. So, it was helpful information.
I will be searching for other types of information on other job ideas I still have, and about training opportunities (still not too late at 48yo, right?). Information is sometimes hard to get but it empowers.

TADAs
up at a sensible time
bfast with MrNG, talked about life and job prospects and house improvements
did two easy online things I needed doing

TODOs
bfast table clean-up, not sure when kids will be up
get a few things done while house is quiet
later : feed kids lunch, drive to sports shop, ...

☀️Good morning!
Thanks for the start, kittykatt. Tbh I don’t really notice if the titles start with the letter of the day of the week unless it’s pointed out so I’m good with any theme. I did want to ask if you’re sponsored by the poultry society. Our feed stores are full of chicks right now, your theme is chickens, I see what you’re doing and I won’t be sucked into buying more chickens! 😂

See you when you wake up, Dogged.

French, I just saw yesterday where a 51 yo woman was going to teach her first class. There is ALWAYS time to do something new and I encourage you to stay positive.

Dh and I managed one show before we were nodding off last night. I don’t even remember what it was now lol. Just something to decompress. All that was on my mind when I woke this morning was the electrician telling me he knew a person who cleaned houses very well. I had just done my whb and mopped! What a blow! I know he didn’t mean any disrespect and he’s probably just trying to help a friend out but now I must scrub my house again today…maybe…or wait until the feeling passes lol. Anyhoo, routines are a must and I’m wasting daylight.
Have a wonderful day you beautiful people! 😊

Resist Bama. Don't buy more chickens, even though the chicks are so darn cute!
Absolutely not too late, FFB. I re-entered the work force at around your age. Also, my friend CK got her PhD in her 50s, and started a brand new career.
There's an R in Thursday, so we're all good, Kitty! LOL! I enjoy the creativity exhibited here in matching names with the days of the week. The days of the week do seriously limit things as so many letters are missing. Enjoy church!
See you soon Doggedly.

I did not get back here yesterday. I actually tried in the evening, but our internet had gone out, and hot spots worked for other websites - but not this one.

It turns out there WAS a tornado that hit our city Tuesday night. It was very small (F1) and kind of went along the western edge. No injuries but it did take the roof off of a school. 🌪️ There were many trees down across roads in our neighborhood, which is heavily wooded with mature trees. I was late to payroll bc I had to take an alternate route. We'll take care of the tree down in our yard after we return.

I'm up and working on coffee. It was another short-ish night, so I'll be tired later today. I just need to power through the next hours before we get on the flight. Then, I can relax. We're leaving in 3.5 hours. I have a ton to get done before then. BUT coffee is the priority. ☕️✨

Yesterday, I did a lot of grading. I finished grading first drafts before I went in to payroll. After the exam, I started grading final exams. I did not quite finish - I'm almost there.

My parent's lawyer's paralegal called me yesterday morning. After email exchanges on Tuesday, she told me that I had the option to switch trustees on the trust if I wanted. I actually hadn't realized that was an option. She didn't advise me to do so, but I asked a few questions, and it became clear to me that they've never worked with a trustee as unresponsive as the current one. I think they think it might be wise to do so. THUS, I will probably switch - but not sure if I'll wait until after estate taxes are paid. They're trying to get ahold of the trustee in this matter, and it involves a huge amount of $$, so they don't want interest or penalties to accrue - and they're frustrated that she's not engaging. They're due 9 months after Mom's passing, which would be around June 14, I believe. I'll reach out to them again and ask for advice on the matter - maybe tomorrow.

Another thing to figure out and think about.

Meanwhile, I told AC (payroll - supervisor) that it's OK if I don't have a class next session. If I don't take a class, I make room for another teacher who probably needs it more than I do, and that's OK with me at this point. I will request June and August sessions off as well, and she said that was all OK. She told me yesterday that they may not have a class for me next session. SO - I may have a lighter schedule here in a few weeks. I will be the acting academic director for 2 weeks while AC is in Europe; not having a class to tend as well would make that job easier for me.

Another gloomy and wet day... Need to check forecast to schedule our walking time. I managed over 6 hour sleep - so that's an improvement. Now to put it to good use...

No outings scheduled for today.
Laundry is behind - so I need to deal with that. See how it goes.
