wednesday and It's a Wonderful World

Post by Harriet »

Make it a wonderful day in your part of the wonderful world today!
You're just the one you can do it, too.

It is Cartooning Day today, or Cartoonist's Day. Do you have favorite cartoonists who make you happy, or make you think?
Do you ever sit and doodle, create some little cartoon for yourself? I'm sure Nancy does, probably Twins' Mom and others.

Hi Harriet! Thank you for giving our day a wondrous start!!

I don't think I have anything to do today.

Hmmm...
Bathroom garbage needs to go out.
All inside plants need to be watered.
I asked dh if it was easier to pull weeds when the ground was wet or dry. He said wet, so I guess today would be a good day seeing as we've had rain this morning and last night before bed.
I need to go get a fajita dinner kit because dh wants fajitas tonight.

I guess I do have stuff to do today.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning!

Harriet - Thank you for the start and link.

We have another cool day (65F) before the temps start rising. I'm not a fan of being this cool and am ready for some warmer temps. Reminding myself to enjoy these temps because soon it will be over 100 this summer.... whaaaattteeevvver.

We have 60's rock music playing. As each song comes on DH can name the title, band, singers, artist, lyrics, year it came out, etc. #HappyMoments

I made a pan of mac & cheese this morning to restock ready-to-eat tub in the refrigerator. A half of a chicken is available from local BBQ place. I have some hamburger meat thawing...what to do with it? Hum...

Some "new" eye impressions today, as things change
less fuzziness
more brightness, as in just bright lights or sunshine is perhaps temporary, but wow.
No superimposition or double vision, I don't think. One image at a time, whew.
My favorite everyday shoes have purple on them.
A favorite set of plates are less Wedgewood blue than periwinkle/purple blue. Would I have bought them?
In the mirror, the "new" eye's pupil is reduced to almost the same size as the other eye, since yesterday
I still need the bad eye to read what time it is on kitchen oven clock from the hallway as I get up in a.m.

I was headed back here to post again, when the interim minister of the church where my membership resides called. He's been there since I left - at the time he was temporary, and I would cut him a check each week. He's trying to understand some history, specifically some memorabilia, and after asking other members - older than me - in the church and finding they didn't know, they suggested me. Sigh. Never a pastoral call or elder call to our home or dd27 in the entire time since we've seen him, even though I used to pay him and he and I had several good conversations then. But now he needs something. Oh, well.

I told him I didn't know the answers he needed, but had some thoughts, plus I knew who to ask. He sent photos that are difficult for me to download but HRH knows how to help, so I'll get those done and then send them along to my cousin who is the historian in the family, and a former member of the church as well.

We had a glitch in the irrigation last evening, so HRH has worked on that this morning and brought me outside under strictest supervision  with goggles 8-) to inspect. Looks much better.

I cooked brunch at the stove, and had no problems.

Cartooning - I suppose that Schultz was my all-time cartoonist ideal, and that would probably be true for many people. The animation included in Mary Poppins transfixed me as a child and someone bought me a book with the still images and a little of the story - racetrack, penguins.

I sent the info that today is Carlooning Day on to dd27 and dsonil, both of whom took courses in this for their Fine Art degrees. I remember dsonil discussing it a lot, including earliest Steamboat Willie cartoons, etc.

I made meatloaf a couple of nights ago. Dh had a meatloaf sandwich for lunch yesterday and he finished it this morning. He told me he loves having leftover meatloaf so he can have at least one sandwich.

I was able to burn some recyclables in a paper bag, so that made me happy.
I had a shower earlier and my hair was still wet when I went out with this bag. I normally won't go out with wet hair, but it was only a brief walk across the back yard to the fire pit.

The new lawnmower arrived, was easily assembled (4 screws) and then I tested it. I was questioning my selection because I choose a smallest lawnmower that we have ever had. This one only cuts 16". I intentionally selected it for that small footprint. I love it! it is so light and easy to get into tight places. ANYway, now DH and I can both mow the front yards at the same time which makes us both happy.

Project of the day/week - Sam's yard is getting closer to being done. About 75% of the tree trimming is done. The branches need to be hauled to the burn pit. I am estimating it will take 2-3 trailer loads to accomplish that. However, DS17 loaned our trailer hitch ball to someone and they claimed to have lost it. So now we need to purchase a new ball so we can pull the trailer. Baby stepping our way through this project one step at a time.

I've been to yoga, the grocery store, and the post office. Also signed some checks at the church while I was there. No church tonight because of bad weather predictions. No watches or warnings yet, but schools let out at noon. I talked to ds for awhile. It did not rain while I was out, but it is pouring down now! It rained a lot during the night too.

Just changed my Directv package again... Should have lowered my bill by approx $20/month. I got the notice on my phone this morning that current bill was charged to my credit card, and it is just ridiculous. Over $280. This is insane. (Yes, I do realize $260 is not much better, but I was afraid to make any really drastic changes, even though I am probably stupid for staying with them.) The (new) basic package price is $138.99, compared to the old cost of $158.99. The extra $100 comes from taxes and some kind of "regional sports fee," and the cost of having 3 tv's connected, I guess. I know it is ridiculous.) There are a couple of package add-ons that I would like to drop, but for some reason they will not let me do that online.

Now, I MUST call AT&T again and hopefully get my dmom straightened out with her phone!

AAUUGHH -- I just got a message on my phone -- on the weather app from my local news -- that my account had been hacked because of "visiting adult websites."  I PROMISE I HAVE NOT VISITED ANY ADULT WEBSITES!!! I just hit the x on that and it seems fine. I think that was a pop-up wanting me to buy an app that would "clean up" my phone. SMH...

I still have one more load of laundry I need to wash. Will do that while I wait for AT&T.
Tomorrow is another day.
