Re: Tandoori Chai Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Tandoori chai is an Indian street-food beverage made by pouring spiced masala chai into a red-hot clay mug (kulhad). The extreme heat causes the tea to violently froth and boil over like a volcano. This process physically infuses the drink with a distinctly smoky, earthy flavor and a slightly caramelized aroma from the unglazed clay.
Core Characteristics
The Name: It takes its name from the tandoor (a traditional Indian clay oven) where the clay mugs are placed until they are searing hot.
The Taste: It tastes like standard Indian milk tea but features an added depth of charcoal smokiness, mild char, and rich earthiness.
The Presentation: Street vendors typically heat the unglazed pots on charcoal, place them inside a deeper metal container, and pour the liquid in. The bubbling spectacle acts as a highly popular visual experience.
Common Ingredients
Base: Strong black tea leaves (usually Assam or Darjeeling) brewed with whole milk and water.
Aromatics: Freshly crushed ginger and lemongrass.
Chai Masala: A ground mixture containing cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and black peppercorns.
Sweetener: Sugar, brown sugar, or jaggery.
How it is Served
Once the intense volcanic fizzing subsides, the tea is transferred and served hot in a clean, fresh clay kulhad. It is traditionally paired with Indian street snacks like bun maska (buttered buns), samosas, or pakoras

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off !
KitKat, I admire hostas, but dont grow any,.mai ly.becaise the slugs love them so much!
Laura, you're right and my house has a tiled roof. (I forget whether they're concrete or clay, but iirc they are mass produced by a company called Marley (?) so spares are easy 49.9bta8n, and they should last a long time. (70-100 years). I sometimes look at the house where I grew up on Google maps, which was built in the 1950s, and it still has the original roof tiles. You can see where the current owners took the chimney down and had to use new tiles to.fill the gap (they will darken with time and make a better match) but the originals are still good.
Gma, your DMums house must look very.smart with a new roof. I'm sorry about your friend, that doesn't sound good.
Good news that Germane currently likes a cheaper biscuit Dogged. I can relate to the."accidents" - on occasion,. although Freddie has 4 clean litter trays in different locations we still have an accident. At least he is.now to big to get behind the TV.- his favourite place as.a kitten!
Yesterday I managed a good session in y.frontmgarden.before the rain came, so then I went inside and cleaned the kitchen.
Today is church, then Jude has weight loss clinic this afternoon. It's also the after for the post office at the community shop, so I need to go there for stamps ( I need to write a.bietjday card for DF NP whose birthday is next week, and also have friends with birthdays later in June) DH is out this evening with the mens breakfast group. They are having pie, mash and a pint at the local brewery.

Re: Tandoori Chai Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Today is another decidedly chilly day (16C) so far,.with frequent showers. However, Fred has had his walk and I've hoovered the car and I stayed dry for both activities! I've written the card for DF NP, and it's now in the car with the sign up sheet for parish lunch (that I'll drop off at church) and Jude's weight card. Oh, and I've emailed DM about the coffees (this saga seems never ending!)

The hospitalists at our local hospital change out every 5 days or so, helian. They work at all of the different hospitals in the network. The frequent changes make good relationships difficult I think especially since the tendency is to get people in and out of the hospital quickly when possible. We have had good relationships with the specialists who tend to be more consistent. But that may well be the local more rural hospital setting.

Re: Tandoori Chai Thursday @ TDD - C&C
I'm here - but like Nora Ephron, I don't really want to be. I'm skipping WW this morning. I don't feel like rushing to get out the door on time. Also, with WW, I'd have meetings at 8, 9, 10, and 11 this morning. LOL! WW is the only one I can cut out as the others are all payroll meetings.
Looks like you're ready for church and errands, Kitty.
I've had chai before, trissie, but not a proper volcanic one! I went through a Nora Ephron phase decades ago, read a lot of her books.
I knew you'd like chai, L Ann!
Friend R is a hospitalist, and I think he's actually quite good at those conversations. I'm not saying all hospitalists are like that; I don't know the trend, but I do know R, and dh talks with R in depth about his job on their weekly coffees. R is generally a mature and very socially attuned person who sincerely wants to help other people, and he's learned over the years how to have hard conversations to the best of his ability. He has explicitly talked to us about that learning process. Sometimes, the patient has wacky ideas; one notable patient refused any treatment because he (and his family) believed God was going to heal him. R tried several times and in several ways to get through to the family the reality of what was happening but without success.
Last night, the lettuce wraps turned out very yummy! Dh left for the airport during kitchen clean up, so I finished on my own - no biggie. I did the payroll collection bin task in the evening and listened to dh's playlist.
I like listening to his in the evening as it's a bit softer/ calmer than mine.
Today, I have meetings/ appointments at 9, 10, 11, and 3. I am skipping the 8 a.m. WW meeting. Other things to do: a Kroger run, return a pair of shoes, spend some time working on the house to prep for houseguests. I plan to walk to and from the gym for more exercise. I'm on my own for dinner tonight; dh will arrive home around 8 pm. M is also returning from her travels sometime today.
Weather is gorgeous again! Sunny, still. High of 86F (30C), so a bit on the warm side but very pleasant now.
AC has asked me about subbing F and M. I can do it so I probably will. But that's it for me for subbing before dd30's event and houseguests arrive.

Oh, yes, L Ann, interesting - different hospitals must operate differently. R only works at one (UMich) and it is also a research hospital and a big draw across the state and general region. In fact, he is an officer and maybe also a director in the hospital. He's been there for decades.
Is there a walk with the pup on your calendar today, kitkat?
EPT #1 - another Japanese student. My word, we're being overrun by Japanese students this summer! LOL! We love them as students, of course. It's just interesting to see. We will have several Japanese high school students in our school next month too. Their moms actually don't want them in class together.
The next EPT will be more challenging; a 6th grader. We don't usually take students that young. And the presence of Mom during the interview can be disruptive. I've been given info re: tutoring as that might be a more suitable situation.
