We could start a thread here for dealing with dysfunctional families, trissie. LOL! The goal would need to be something positive, like how to love them well while keeping relationships as healthy and safe for ourselves and families as possible. My parents - they did the best they could, and I believe they improved much on how they themselves were raised. I think my mom, in particular, carried emotional wounds from her childhood that she never fully processed. Maybe it's significant, I don't know, but my 2 brothers and I were all adopted - from different families. So no one in my family is genetically connected to anyone else, and we're all EXTREMELY different from each other.

I'm a little scattered, but I've gotten some things done.

Some Goals for Today:
1. Exercise - jog outside this afternoon when it's a little warmer
2. Get yarn spun at yarn store (if I can bring it back to do that)
3. payroll: curriculum review
4. finish Mem. Thank yous - only 2 left
5. Finish wrapping gifts - wip
6. pay property taxes
7. update charitable giving for the year

8. Bedroom tidy
9. Towels: w d f pa
10. Prep 2nd guest room for RH and KE - put bedding out. They can make the beds themselves. - IN progress.
11. Groceries - order or go get them.
12. Shoes - last night
13. Start packing?

Next:
- finish qt
- back exercises
- dress to jog

TaDas!
- up; weighed - a little less than yesterday but still very high
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website
- said good bye to M who is out for the day
- paid taxes
- taxes and thank yous to the mail box
- caught up on giving
- email to DF - I wasn't sure if he was still working for a nonprofit; he is not
- checked bank accounts
- started qt; was interrupted by dh
- load of towels washing
- helped dh label gifts he wrapped
- lunch
- dw: loaded and running
- called yarn store - no one picked up

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

And good afternoon too !

helia, trissie, sorry about emotionnally distant / complicated parents ! All our achievements and our children's achievements should be recognized and celebrated, in a perfect world. ... Which we reminds me we are suppoed to visit my MIL and FIL in February... at least our kids are old enough now to realize something is weird when visiting MIL, and they will probably understand why we don't visit more often.

helia Destop is a brand for a chemical mix to unclog drains. Maybe the name differs in other countries. It's made with caustic soda / sodium hydroxide. Not great for the environment, but with an old house and stupidly-connected plumbing, it's good to have easy options. Oh I see you're almost done with the thank-yous, this seemd to be a weight on your mind, glad it's being lifted. Enjoy the "shoes" tonight !

Gma you're doing such progress in your house ! Glad the flu shot didn't bother you.

L.Ann I'm curious about that book, too.

kitkat, nice to see you today.

We had an averagely busy day. Got the weekly grocery order, bought table tennis rackets so the kids would get some fresh air. MrNG finsihed some deep cleaning and decluttering in DS10's bedroom. Tomorrow may be DS7's bedroom. There was also some cooking, some table tennis, a trip to the pharmacist for Vitamin D, and to the convenience store for lettuce. Some house chores. All the parcel boxes are flattened and ready for recycling. Some fridge cleaning - basic, not detailed, but it counts, right ?
Now the kids are playing with the console, while MrNG is doing some desk work. Oven is on for store-bought pizza, we have family movie night.
I hope to have more free time tomorrow for some tasks I want to finish in 2025.

TADAs
busy day, but most important goals met : groceries in, kids out, some house chores

TODO
pizzas in the oven, lettuce and some veggies, enjoy movie
bed early

Hello , everyone!

Trissie, I'm sorry the time with your family was ... challenging. I did have to smile at DBD having coke for the very first time. I can imagine the results! :o

KitKat, I hope the yoga was enjoyable.

Helia, I'm glad you had supper with just DH last night. Cheering you on with all that you still need to do today.

FFB, you are so right!

L.Ann, I need to look at FACE too, but I'm leaving that until Monday, when DH is out.

I had a nice leisurely start and coffee with DH, then he went to meet his friends. I went for a walk on the sunshine, well wrapped up, and then picked up more leaves in my tiny front garden. I've also out soda crystals down the outside drains, cleaned the windows and as much of the cladding as I can reach, run the hoover round downstairs amd tidied up, caught up with the laundry and updated my Christmas book. The kitties have had their supper and I'm waiting for DH to come home so we can have our supper.

WTG on the yoga, kitkat!
Is that a good book, L Ann?
Easy options are great, FFB. Did it work?
Glad you got outside, Kitty! Sounds like a nice day.

I'm lining up some errands: 1. The postal place - to put the Ks' gifts in the mail. They return from Italy tomorrow. 2. The yarn store to spin my second skein. 3. Park - a jog.

Next:
- back exercises
- dress to jog
- errands: postal place, yarn store, park to jog.

More done but smaller things:
- phone call to yarn store - yes, I can stop by and they will spin it for me
- lol left in the dryer folded and put away
- found new mattress pad + clean sheets for 2nd bed in guest room for RH and KE.
- finished QT
- towels 1: drying and towels 2: washing
- texts with AC --> I can take next session off! :D I will need a break to recover from my break.
- family texts; I am not going to worry about the ingredients for the pannekoeken. Someone else can do that.
- phone call with dh; sent info to dd27 for RH's surprise gift
- Kroger order -- to be delivered tomorrow morning

Helia, you're very wise to delegate some of the jobs -you've got more than enough to do already!

DH is finally back home, having lost his phone somewhere. He seems remarkably unconcerned about it, and thinks he may have left it on the bus. Fortunately he should be able to disable it so no one else can use it, but I need to remind him to do this. I'm just hoping someone hands it in, or that it's found when the bus gets cleaned - he can ring the bus depot tomorrow.
