Stress Relief Sunday

Post by Harriet »

Keeping the stress down is positive for everyone - hope we can all have stress-free Sundays today!

WebMD says to have better emotional health ... ... organize and simplify your life! (We knew that, didn't we? ) Besides giving attention to organizing our spaces so we don't get negative feelings from them, they also quote Alex Lluch, author of Secrets to Love Life and Be Happy: "Spend at least 15 minutes a day in a pursuit that allows you to decompress, clear your mind, and rid your thoughts of the mental chitchat that clouds your creativity, passion, and productivity. Clean sweep your thoughts with a hot bath, a meditation practice, a long walk, a phone call to a friend -- whatever works for you."

How will you find stress relief in organizing your spaces today?
How will you find stress relief in some pursuit that allows you to decompress?

Great way to start the day off with thanks DHarriet! I love this theme.

Today I am going to focus on keeping it simple. So that is my stress relief plan. Some knitting or crocheting would help too! maybe some writing. Yard work is a stress relief for me so that is up if the temps warm up enough, exercise is a great way of sress relief for me like the walk with a friend that I took yesterday.

Hen chores done 1st round anyway.
:P Coffee is made.
Journaling is under was qt is up next.

Morning Harriet .....
I'm a great believer in taking time for myself every day. I think we spend so much time doing for others that we forget abt ourselves. I hate the word selfish but I believe you need to give yourself the right to so something every day that is fun just for you and that makes you smile.

When I was younger with a busy house, work and family I would get up extra early to a quiet house and me time. And while at home i built in me time in my weekly schedule. I think it's very important for ones soul to remember the person who lives within it by enjoying the day and having fun.

I do things that remind me of what brought me joy as a child..... Playing with my dogs, riding my bike, reading and hiking/walking. I sing and dance to my iPhone as I clean my house, and I try to find ways to celebrat my life. Every day I remind myself how lucky I am. I have a great husband, a wonderful son and a nice home. I have food, running water, indoor plumbing with heat when it's cold and a/c when it's hot. I have money to buy food and clothes and a car to take me wherever I want to go. I have a career that has allowed me to touch the future and help other

I'm always thinking about how lucky I've been to be born into this life instead of th projects in the intercities or the poor lands of the Third Worlds. I think I've been blessed and never want to forget that.

Yes I've had major bumps in life's road... But in general life has been grand.

Hi everyone!

No plans to drive anywhere today, so that could be something that is stress free. The roads and highways were not bad yesterday or last night at all.

Saw dd, so that was a good thing. I even got a hug. She is NOT a huggie girl.

Bought some beautiful pieces of crystal at the flea market yesterday. There are a lot of pieces of junk out there, but sometimes treasures can be found.

I need to put away all the clean laundry today and the "stuff" that goes with doing laundry.

Mike is watching his usual Sunday stuff.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Another quiet morning here. I've been sitting on my tuchas too long in front of this computer! Talked to dh earlier, he is back on the road this morning. I had a good evening with dd last night - we read some and talked some; she is still asleep this morning. The funeral is at 4 p.m. today - I'd like to get there early. I have a reserved parking space as temple president, but access to the parking lot is poor when there is a lot of traffic.

Between now and then I want to do most of a.m. routine and do some rearranging in our MBR closet.
-kitchen counters
-straighten great room
-make the bed
-clear breakfast bar and/or kitchen table
-start a lol of delicates

Good Morning!

Yes, most definitely a good idea to stop and consider what brings us stress and how/what we can do to each day to deal with it.

Last night was a long one. LO was sick multiple (5..6..7?) times during the night. Poor fella. I used the nausea meds I had on hand. During times like that I really like the med that rubs onto his wrist. HOpefully today he will start feeling better and the stomach bug will be no more.

BRAVO to Harmony! Those pre-planned and prep'd meals will be very handy as you & DH go through the upcoming surgery and recovery. You are both in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare.

I'm cooking a big amount of meatballs today. I have 70 meatballs in the oven now. There is probably enough meat mixture made to cook another 150 or so. We find them handy to have in the freezer to make a multitude of menus/meals. Our meatball stash had been used up so it is time to replenish it.

Finished with that round. I need walk ddogs and s2s. Just looked at my calendar and remembered that there is an "unveiling" of a grave marker at the cemetery at two. I won't make it there for sure.

-walk ddogs
-s2s
-hang up delicates and start a lol of dark delicates

Hi Harriet, what a good theme for today. Dh & I have been a little stressed since we discovered that the gutter on one section of the house is full of ice from snow melting off the roof. The ice built up so much it pushed up under the roof a little & started melting when it hit the warmer air from inside the house. I was sitting here at my computer when I heard drip, drip, drip & looked up to see the drops both falling from the ceiling & rolling down the wall. Dh put ice melt in the gutter; hoping that works. I feel bad because he wanted to shovel snow off this part of the roof right after this last storm, but I talked him out of it because I hate when he goes up there (especially when it is slippery!) Thankfully the dripping lasted only a short time.

This time of year, I frequently decompress by taking a few minutes several times a day to lean on a windowsill & watch all the birds that visit our yard for food. There is such a variety -- woodpeckers on the suet block, blue jays looking for peanut pieces, robins drinking from the birdbath, dozens of doves eating seed on the ground along with wrens, sparrows, finches & more. I'm glad to be able to help them, especially when it is so brutally cold.

As far as organizing spaces, I'm not doing any of that today, but have been doing some planning mentally -- does that count? :P

Hi Nancy. You've mentioned that your dgd likes to bake with you. Has she shown any interest in knitting or crocheting?

Hi Cowinkie, yes, I agree, we are so blessed. PS -- I don't think I remembered to tell you this before but around the time you gave such a good review about your new jeans from kma rt I needed a pair. I tried there first & found such a comfy pair with a great fit. Thanks for sharing that :D .

Hi Cathy, how fun to find beautiful crystal pieces at the flea market! I love going to them, too.

Hi Twins, I'm glad you had another quiet morning as you've been so busy lately.

Hi, Dust Bunnie! It's so nice to see you here again. Your handle has always made me smile :) .

Hi OKay, so sorry LO is still sick. I hope you are feeling better, & that he feels much better by tonight.

I've been cuop but as someone (I think Lucylee?) said recently, I either don't have enough time after reading or don't have much to say lately. I guess today I have both :P

I've been thinking of many of you. ((Bookie & dh)) , I'm so sorry about the loss of your sweet kitty. It just hurts so much when they have been such a big part of our lives for so long.

Kathryn, I've been enjoying your cruise adventures 8-)

Hoping for good news from Mr Dee's medical tests & appointments, for Mr Harmony's upcoming surgery, for continuing improvement for dear Sadie's shoulder, & for a fantastic new job for Elizabeth.

((Harmony)), I wish I could give you more time & less work. Your days are so full & I know you are worried about your dh.

It was so nice to see Cats, Kally & Suzlew here recently! :D

Waving ~~~~~ to everyone, & anyone I missed mentioning above. Hope your day has been stress free & wonderful :)

We have arrived in Auckland. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful entry to the harbour.

Our cabin overlooks a hotel so we are having conversations with guests on their balcony.

We've had breakfast and said goodbye to friends who are leaving.

We are monitoring dd and will go look to buy a sim chip for my phone so we can talk with her.
