Sunday - some spring forward

Clocks here: four less than usual, the cuckoo and grandfather are out of commission but need to go to clockmaker. Two others have stopped working and need to either have their works replaced or give up and give them away to someone willing to do it.

In total there are four in the kitchen, one in the living room, car, one in bedroom, and 6 light timers. Oh, and the corded phones. The computers and cell phones will reset themselves. There's also a clock in the basement but it keeps getting unplugged so has been flashing the wrong time for a week now.

Church went fine. Only one person came at the end of the service. The toddler play area was a huge success, she stayed up happily for the whole service. I forgot how vocal playing children can be! (But it was happy sounds.)

We sang the anthem at the second church as well so got home at 11:30. I've vacuumed and dusted the bedroom level, folded and put away the first load of laundry (started before we left for church) and hung up the second to dry. The third is in the washer now. Hopefully it will finish before we leave or else I will have to stop the washer and restart when we get home (can't trust the washer to advance through the spin cycle.)

I've had my breakfast and am listening to dh practice the music for the afternoon service. Dinner tonight was cooked last night (shepherd's pie) so just needs reheating. But I may want to run to the store on my way home for the service. I also need to plan the meals for the next 6 weeks to empty the freezer.

Kathryn do you ever read the Joys and Concerns thread?

I'm sort of curious as to why posters would post something in there, instead of in the Lenten thread or in here when they have a concern or a need for something when the moderator (Kathryn) posts here, but not recently in J&C.

Just putting this out there as something that has been on my mind for a day or two.



On the other hand, I just had an absolutely MARVELOUS conversation with my brother. Not in his job as the executor of my dad's will, but as my brother. I don't know if others have gone through this after the death of a parent where relationships with siblings get better instead of worse.

CathyS, My Dsis and I got much closer when her natural father, whom was my adoptive father, passed away. She was executor, had so many dealings with siblings, the attorney, was fair, followed through on Ddad's wishes. She became more distant with 1 Dbro though. He wanted his $$ and wanted to get on with life. She and I never hear from him, but see him and get hugs and happy greetings at funerals. So it distanced him and her, but it brought her and me closer together and I'm so proud of her. She's 8 1/2 years younger than me, I almost feel like she's my daughter, but as we've aged, we've become equals. I'm 62 and she's 53 1/2 now. I feel there's so much stress in handling and estate, so much needs to be done, decisions made to try to make everything fair and keep everyone happy. So I'm glad she did a good job and Ddad would've been so Very Proud of her, too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LILAC! AND MANY MORE, TOO!

I've s2s, shampooed, dressed, etc... Wrote 1 letter, have 1 to answer, wrote in a journal, but haven't had QT yet. Will do it later, as I'll do exercise (perhaps) later, too. May take 1 day off, to catch up on the decluttering and organizing of my paper crafts in the "Bunny Room."

It's cloudy, it's not raining, it's in the lower 50's, and DH has Nascar on, then flips to a Cardinals v. s. National pre-season baseball game. Don't men use remotes more than women do? Fast fingers do travel, here, a lot at my house and DH is in control most of the time.

Just did a quick CUOP here - this morning dh and I had a meeting at temple, so as soon as I read the paper we were out of the house and gone. From temple we went to WF for lunch, then to Lowes for mulch for the yard and pansies. Just got home, and I walked ddogs, who didn't get a walk this morning. I'm going to give myself just a short rest then get busy with the house and pansies.

Yesterday ended up not as expected. I took Moses for a walk and was trying to get down to the creek so he could get water and/or swim, and I slid in very unexpectedly! The bank was so slippery I had to be assisted out by a very nice young lady. Lost my prescription sunglasses and the baseball cap I was wearing and walked back to the car dripping wet and very muddy, hair and all. I threw those clothes in the washer when I got home, and then this morning started a lol of like laundry, rewashing the t-shirt and khakis. (This was the same place where I had purse stolen - dh says it's too expensive for me to walk there.)

We went to dfriends' house last night for burgers and dogs - dfriends were actually out and grandparents (who are friends also) were babysitting the five kids (blended family.)

I use my iPad as a bedside clock and it resets automatically. I reset my watch but need to reset the rest of the clocks in the house.

Giving myself 30 min of downtime....

Ooops, this didn't post before, I just hit submit and walked away.

Am going to google cleaning creek water and mud from my running shoes...

Cathy: thanks for nudging me over to J&C. I peek in but don't participate regularly. This is part of my time management, there's a limit to how pastoral I am at the best of times and with IRL demands on my pastoral energies being so great right now, I have to draw the line somewhere.

My afternoon service went well. Didn't like it when I read it so added stuff on the fly and it worked - dh said the sermon was just fine and he didn't know what I was concerned about.

Afterwards we skipped grocery shopping (we'll last until Tuesday, our next day out for sure) and spent 2 hours visiting my senior friend.

Dinner is heating up now and I've had a snack. Dh wants me to finish the reconciliations tonight so that's my next challenge.

I didn't get to the paper taming. Dh went out and sat on our covered patio so I joined him. This is such a nice day!

Taking a breather from some outside stuff sun is back out I need to get back out there and get to it spring cleaned.

Getting ready for the chicks cleaning up the coop and run continues. I captured a squirrel in the run h. Relocated it in a safe place. Then when he returned repaired the hens ladder. (We were going to build a other on but did not get the boards for it.)

Brunch was good.
Planned left overs today for dinner helps.

Prayer shawl knitting done finishing still to do.

Proofing to get out hoses in the back yd. So I can continue with clean up. Moved dirt from cleaning the run worked great for filling in hens dust bath holes.

WE HAVE 2 CROCUS COMING UP & IT HASN'T RAINED ALL DAY! WOO-HOO!


I now have 5 boxes and 1 double-bagged paper sacks with handles on them, to donate to ARC. I've really gleaned from my closet and drawers.

I've been working on notes for a story. Didn't do a pen pal letter today, except for another one's this a.m. I'll wait until I get some reading in before I write this other pen pal's reply. The stationery, envelope and envy stuffers are all ready to go though.

I did 2 lol, ate healthy today, made the bed, put dirty laundry in the utility room, and took a larger lined basket and rearranged items in it, for my great room end table. Now it looks super. On the floor in front of the end table are 2 smaller lined matching baskets. 1 has books to read in it; 1 has magazines, spiral notebook, etc.. in it to read/write.

DH worked on the taxes template our accountant mailed us, and he'll go in tomorrow with the info for her to work on. We won't get anything back; never do.
