I'm not sure I've ever heard of anybody leaving ICU for home. There is always a step down to a different kind of room, for watchfulness. The very fact that the care had to be "intensive" kinda clues one in that the next step can't very well be just go home, see ya later. It seems odd to me that anyone would want that; not the physician and certainly not the patient. Kathryn, your dsisil sure seems to be trying to prove something. She seems to need to assert her self-worth even if the sky is falling, and she judges her self-worth by not relying on anyone. I think your fb post was spot-on and I'm glad you got the "like" from her mother.

Dee, he didn't suggest a brand. HRH has settled on the Vitamin Shoppe generic sublingualbecause it tastes better than others. It's brought his level up to exactly where his dr hoped. So it's right in the house, no problem. But I'm supposed to take a higher dose than HRH has been taking for a while, so I'll either take 3 times a day or consider buying a higher mcg dose than he does (he takes 1000). The only important thing is to get the methylcobalamin form so it's easily absorbed. Actually, my doctor takes B-12 monthly shots and says he doesn't see a problem, just give yourself a shot once a month and forget it. (So easy for a dr to say, right? Made me think of lucylee with her allergy med.) He says the cost for that is about $2.99 each.

Yes, big difference between starchy veggies and other veggies, which is ever so sad! If I could just have some nice creamy mashed potatoes with each meal, how pleasant is that? :)

Count me in with all who are struggling with diet and weight. It took me almost a year to lose 6 lbs. I think I have finally leveled out and now I lose up to two lbs, but gain it back quickly depending on what I eat. I know I'm not as busy on the go as many here, but I'm not sedentary either, so I don't know what the next clue is!

I had to look up the last day I posted here...Friday it was. We had a busy weekend (for us), but very enjoyable. Saturday was the Highland Games and Festival and we were up early and out of the house by 7:30 am. Found out when we got there that dgd12 had already done her pipes solo. It was her first real judging and she got a "Good". As she played her piece, she started with one song and midway switched to another tune, which didn't matter to judging. They based their scores more on technique. But she was so upset with herself she cried after she was done and turned away from the judge. Many people told her that happens a lot, but she is such a perfectionist!

The rest of the morning was watching the dance competition. It was very interesting and entertaining. One piper provided music for all; there were at least 50 dancers competing. Dgd19 won a first and second place for two different dances. Dgd won a second and third place for two dances. I don't remember if they each placed for one of the same dances, but in a different age group. Then we all went outside and got a bite of lunch and walked around looking at the different vendor tents. We saw some of the game competitions and listened to the bands competing. The weather was nice, sunny and about 83*. There is plenty of shade trees and places to sit for a break. Ds said it was twice as big as last years festival. We all had such a good time, but were all tired by 5 pm when they had the closing ceremony. Dh and I were exhausted and when we got home we fed the dogs, ate a bowl of oatmeal and were in bed by 8 pm! I know Harriet knows how much fun these festivals are; I wonder if anyone else here has been to one?

Sunday we saw dfam#2 again as they came for dinner and visit. Everyone was still tired and were glad to just watch a little tv and talk quietly.

Twins', I hope you have a quieter day tomorrow. You are getting close to your last day as Temple Pres. aren't you?
Helia, I'm glad you had a nice weekend with your parents. Nice you could enjoy a quilt show.
Dee, you are getting a lot done for your trip home again. I know you are anxious to see dh again.
Kathryn, I'm sorry your dsis is having such a hard time right now.
MT, I guess it's not always easy to get good volunteers no matter what area of the country. Dakota sound like a really nice companion pet.
OKay, hope LOs dr. apts are good. How did the Lego Project turn out?
Harmony, "Saturday dinner with your dfriend"...that's how I feel when I visit at your house! :D
Lucy, guess it's best just to take one day at a time. ((Hugs)) for you and dh and both dfamilies.
Harriet, you have a very wise doctor, very positive motivation. I believe the vit B that dh takes says sublinqual.
Cowinkie, it is interesting about the different personalities and so many of the same in your small neighborhood.
Lilac, even if dh won't be doing the bathroom before he retires, will he still do some of the smaller jobs around the house, or wait and do it all later?
Nancy, you are getting a lot done in your yard and looking real nice.

Dh and I worked in the back yard last week. Some time this week we will finish the front yard. Ds edged the sidewalk and driveway, I dug up some bulbs and moved them from the grass to the garden and dh raked leaves. Just have to mow the lawn. We are supposed to get thunderstorms tomorrow and dh has a dr. apt., so probably Thursday will be a good day to mow.

Hope I haven't missed anyone!

Latest FB post from dsil says I want to be well. So I am taking a healing break from usual pace. I am back to work but not training for a bit. Body rash is back. She has a group of likes for that but I told her, Sorry - I'm a tough task master so can't 'like' this. I'm holding out for full healing mode and staying off work until after the follow up appointment. Drink plenty of water to flush your system and rest as much as possible. Now would be a good time to sign up for a Netflix trial and watch a whole series of something while you recover.

She's a teacher. If she worked at a desk in a quiet office reading documents, maybe it wouldn't be so bad but to be alert and active in front of kids when so unwell, especially since just 24 hours ago they had her in isolation and everyone had to gown and mask to be in the room with her, seems counter-productive.

I'm only asking her to take two more days off work, not wait indefinitely for an appointment.

Harriet:
the difference is in the US they get a ton of money for a patient and there's always the chance the patient will go elsewhere. In Canada, there's nothing approaching choice, so they ship patients home as fast as possible because keeping people around longer than required is just risky because of MSRA and C-def which are prevalent in many hospitals. If you are stable, you shouldn't be in a hospital. Which is why my 2 week long stays are so scary. No-one stays in a hospital more than a few days unless they are extremely sick and in danger of getting sicker.

I've managed to mess up my new computer so am trying to get it back to the factory settings except even that seems to be hung. I may have "bricked" my new computer. Can't tell you how upset I am. It has been trying to do a log off for the past 15 minutes as part of a system restore so I'm afraid to use the power switch to shut down. Dh suggested leaving it to run all night on the off chance that it is just taking longer than 15 minutes to do a restore. I really have no choice.

Sunny, dh is planning on doing other things, but the trim and interior doors can't be replaced until the new carpet is in. He is going to get started on replacing the facia on the south side of the house, so that we can get guttering installed. 2 different companies gave us quotes on the gutter but wouldn't replace the facia.

If I would have had a hammer awhile ago, my bathroom would be unusable. I have this new body scrub that I decided to try earlier. I am thankful that I did it in the tub. You were suppose to put it on and then rub in a circular motion, so the dry skin would come off. The texture was like oil and sugar with the sugar settling and oil on the top. In the process of using it, it was slopped all over the bottom of the shower. This mixture is beige and was easily seen. So after I did all that, I was greasy and gritty, so I decided to take a bath. As I was running the water, water from the shower head was splattering me in the face and on the floor. It really irritates me that to take a bath, I need to have the shower door shut. Like I said, if I would have had a hammer......... I will shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick C. I. here. I wore shorts today, it was 70.8* here today, sunny, and DH had to work on the riding lawnmower before mowing today.

I finished and sent in a short story. Will work on more outlines to the titles I've got picked out for July & August, tomorrow.

I got to crochet a bit today, took 1 nap, and wrote DH a grocery list.

Ran a low-grade fever again, so took children's elixir for that.

Tomorrow rains come.

Am watching "Dancing with the Stars," in between laptop time.

Have a GR8 night, Everybody! WAVING TO ALL OF YOU! :D
