My goodness, Harmony, you certainly deserve to resemble a slug (though I'm skeptical you actually do. . .) for a few days - or even weeks - with all you do for your family and church and the business.

We are having drizzle now.

I have:
x done the kids' camp thing
x emailed the ladies who are doing staff snacks the next 2 days details as to the state of things there (all is fine - I'm just sharing details re: where things are, etc.)
x kept the laundry going - washed one lol, took care of drip dry items, folded one lol
x done emails - there is an irritating problem with band uniforms; basically a wonderful very initiative-taking lady who helped me a lot earlier this month took more initiative - and changed the repairs process for the concert uniforms without discussing it with me - or the orchestra parents. Those uniforms are managed by the orchestra, which I think she didn't realize/think about, and she has proposed a return date for repaired uniforms that is unacceptable (by 2 months) to the orchestra parent. But she won't believe me re: the date being not acceptable - she wants to hear everything firsthand from the band director. I'm trying to create less work for him, not more. . . this is why he (and the orchestra director) has a "band uniform parent" position.
x had lunch

I need to leave in 5 minutes to take dd16 to her oboe lesson. She is going to drive, thus the earlier departure time. I hope to run to the groc. store during her lesson; I don't know when else I could get to that errand.

:D HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. GUY & MANY MORE!!! :D

Just remembered it was Mr. Guy's b-day, from a post last night here.

I've written story titles on spiral notebook pages, #-ed each page to 10, which is where I generally cut off or add more at that point. It's fun to work on Halloween stories in June! :!: "Challenging"! :) Also, due by August 1 are November stories. Will focus on Thanksgiving-theme stories & wintery settings, too. It's fun to create worlds for my characters & bring them to life. :) Hard work though. But worthwhile & relaxing, as long as I don't let life get in the way or stress over deadlines.

The guys are nearly back to stack wood here soon.

I hope Sadie & son will be okay today, with tests & meeting with the Dr. Am Thinking of them, praying....

Have a great afternoon, Everyone!

Happy Birthday Mr Guy!!

LO swim class is way over his head (pun intended) this week. The other boys are 10-12 years old. LO doesn't have the coordination to hang with them, but he doesn't know it. He keep trying and believes he can do it.....all the while being happy as a clam. LO is the first one to volunteer when the teachers ask. The first one to try any new stroke, dive, jump being taught. I would love to see inside his 5 year old mind.....to see what he believes he is doing. While I am watching LO try the impossible (for him), I wonder what I could accomplish if I just believed I could do it.

Next up -
** Make appointment for DH with SS
** CFO cards
** update menu plan

Thinking of Sadie and her dson today!

That's a nice thought, OKay. I entertained a very tall, strong 5-year-old boy here yesterday while his Dad contemplated the state of our lawnmower. HRH was treating him as a much older boy, interacted with him a bit, and realized he was only 5. :) I immediately thought of you and Mr. OKay because I'm sure that happens to you all the time. This young man was very comfortable with getting dirty along with Dad (even though Mom had sent him in rather new-looking play clothes - oops!). I brought him inside and at least made a stab at washing him up before sending him home!!!

But dd was, of course, his greater interest. She sent him home with a child-size hula-hoop, after a few lessons that took him him from novice to having lots of fun with it before he left. She knows all the short-cuts.

helia, I empathize with you over those who would "take initiative" to a level that causes trouble. I hope that works out.

Ouch, Harmony, I hope that sunburn is not too bad. Nice you enjoyed the day.

Dd is spending the night with a driver's education class friend. Hope she remembered everything she wanted to take! They will be going to the outlet mall with the other girl's Dad as driver. I am a little concerned about that, since we don't let dd15 wander malls without an adult and I don't know if their family does. But I will trust that between the two girls there's enough wisdom even if they get away from the Dad or vice-versa. Two adorable dogs who came to greet us should provide a lot of enjoyment for dd this evening.

OKay, Today
I'll say
You said a "funny"
about LO being over his head, = "punny". ;)
You made me smile,
which will take me a mile
through my LOL & daily chores.
Your posting never bores.

DH, dgs & dneighbor-friend are now at 5 Guys Burgers celebrating DH's buddy's 66th b-day. :) :) :)
I'm doing LOL, just ate lunch, & will "try" to continue to write a story by hand.
My left ankle throbs, from walking yesterday, so am trying to elevate & not be on my feet as much. That's malarkey! It cannot be done, if I'm on the run doing laundry all day.

My CO cousin-in-law said she's to get storms this afternoon, but would hike with her partner this a.m.

(((Harmony))), Hoping your sunburn heals soon. :!: :)

Need to run to check my SHE card routines in my folder, to "see" if I'm on track. Am trying to instill good habits of actually using my SHE card routines listed on the index cards. :!:

Cowinkie , What breeds, sexes, & names of your dogs do you have? :?:

We lost our doggie after 15.5 years, who had to be put to sleep b/c of a form of cancer called Cushing's Disease in Dogs. She would go into a trance, not know where she was, couldn't move, lost bladder function, couldn't eat, etc... The mailman, UPS man, ALL neighbors, anybody who came, who knew her, kept saying, "Molly's not out here to greet me, as usual. Is she in the house?" Then, I'd break the news to them, they'd get big tears in their eyes, & they were truly sorry & missed her so much. 15.5 years is a LONG time to form a lasting & loving relationship with a dog. Now, we have a cat, DH's heart's still broken, over Molly, (mine, too.) & we cannot bring ourselves to getting another dog. We don't want to leave it alone, if going on a trip, need to find lodging or a pet-sitter. Or somebody to come in to walk/feed it. So, naturally, now, I'm interested in the doggies at other peoples' homes. :) We have so many deer, bunnies, etc.. now, so a dog doesn't scare them away. The closest we can get to having a dog, is our many coyotes in our woods. In Cushing's Disease in Dogs, the face gets smaller, the nose more pointed-shaped, the belly gets a lot larger, & the dog gains weight easily. They slowly slow down, too. She loved to sunbathe outdoors on a blanket next to the house's foundation, too. She had one good last summer, in 2002, dying 1 day after Easter. Our adult kids were devastated. But having a cat sure helps. Molly Dog was such an awesome doggie. 1/2-Australian Shepherd & 1/2-Blue Heeler. Such a gentle disposition, a real love, & forever in my heart, there will always be a space reserved for Dear Sweet Molly. ♥

I didn't mean to go off on such a long tangent about my old doggies. :!: Good memories we had with her. :D

I'll get back to my work now. Need to go look at that SHE index card folder on my eating bar. :)

Back from shopping.

Couldn't find ready made blinds that fit (most are only 63" long.) Went with drapes but finding 8 packages (4 for each window) the same colour proved almost impossible. We found some in a sand colour but weren't sure it was going to work so opted for 4 espresso and 4 black and we'll do black, espresso, espresso, black in each window. The floors are espresso, the chairs in that room are black so I'm hoping this will work. They are all 84" long, though, so I have to either hem them or have them hand down over the radiators. We'll see what I decide.

For the kitchen, we bought white, fabric, shower curtains. They are exactly the right length. Picked up black rods and silver hooks and are praying they won't look too much like shower curtains.

My pain level increased while out so I'm hope, feet elevated and icing now. There's so much to do but all of it requires me to be able to stand and I can't without pain right now.

Nice thoughts about LO, OK. My girls had the opposite problem, people always thought they were much younger than they were b/c they were so very tiny, esp. dd18 - who weighed less than 16 lbs. at her first birthday. Total strangers would stop me in stores just amazed that dd18 was sitting up already in the cart - or walking. . LOL! It was pretty entertaining - but I always told them how old she truly was.

Gentle ((HUGS)) for that sunburn, Harmony.

When we lose Pepper, I'm sure I'll ramble here about what a great dog she was. I'll even do it today. Not so sure about doing that for Maia today, though. . . LOL!

More I'd like to say - but I need to get going.

Done:
x dd16 to oboe lesson; I ended up driving since dd18 had the sedan and we were running late
x groc. store
x Trader Joes
x pet store - g. pig hay
x picked up dd16
x unloaded the van
x a couple quick emails
x visited with dneighbor walking by w/ ds and dgs! Dogs were barking and I went out to shush them. This dneighbor happens to be my GP. :? Feels odd to me, but he is a very nice man. . .
x emptied dish drainer

So much I need to do. . I'm so tired. We need to eat in an hour or less, so I really need to take care of that next.

Ivy ...
Sadie the wonder dog is a boxer and 13.5 years old. I bought her for Sweetie when she was 15 months old. He had a back problem and I thought she would give him a reason to get out and walk. Sadie was his very first dog ever and he was 52. They became a " boy and his dog". She went everywhere we did when traveling and has hikes many mountains and trails inAZ.

Willis is sure what he is... He has the body shape of a boxer and a head that looks like a pitbulls. He has teeny tiny foot pads and a narrow tounge. Both Boxers and Pits are very broad and wide. He has a nose like a hunting dog; always on the ground hunting or standing with his nose high in the wind trying to catch a scent and he loves to swim like a Lab. He's four. Someone tied him to a picnic table and left him when he was a little pup. He adopted me four summers ago. :D

First by hand draft is done on first story. I'm nauseous now. :? Have 3 pen pal letters to read. I'll baby-step answering them this evening. 3 are short letter gals, but cousin-in-law & I write about a 3-4 page letter back & forth. We got the dark laundry put away, nothing in that load was mine, so the guys put their stuff away. White socks & underwear are washing now & then I'll do towels/facecloths.

I got a size Medium/10/12 ankle-length Muumuu in green, blues & white, which FITS PERFECT! I "wondered" why my size Large/14/16 Muumuus were so baggy on me! :!: But it's a "good thing". Now, the last available color of ankle-length Muumuu I don't have, is coral or pink. 1 or the other, was discontinued. They're nice for hot days or while lounging or doing housework or if ill. Not feeling 100% this later afternoon, with such a queasy tummy. Have eaten healthy, too. :?:

DH & Dgs are watching "Breaking Away," which is DH's favorite movie, reminding him of growing up in Corvallis, Oregon, a college town. The movie's college is the U of Indiana though. DH used to watch The Oregon State Beavers play football, etc... He used to ride his bicycle all over town. This movie brings up funny, fun, & heart-warming memories for him. :D :D His watching it with Dgs-17, is real nice for them both.

When I receive a pen pal letter, if I get out a red ink pen, underline things to reply to, news of my own to add to, it makes answering letters much easier. I sort of feel like a teacher examining a student's paper while using red ink though. I'm not correcting it! I'm taking a short-cut to making replies quicker & easier. If news spills over what they've written, I make notes on the back of their letter or on the envelope. It's a time-saver, which a pen pal told me about a long time ago, which she did. I don't always remember to do it though.

DH & Dgson will eat leftover BBQ ribs for dinner with French fries, & things. With my tummy the way it's acting up, I do believe it'll be more yogurt & some toast for me. If my tummy doesn't settle down in the coming month, I'll make a special appt. to see the Dr. again. I believe it's stress, but I just "had" to have a 2nd cup of International coffee, which set it off. :!:  :o It's my own fault. I'm going to have to trek over to the mornings with a cup of Constant Comment tea, in lieu of coffee of any type. I won't get the caffeine headache with Constant Comment tea, I've heard from my nurse & on-line. I have 2 boxes of the tea, plus herbal teas, so maybe it's time to just take the plunge to become a teetotaler. :!: :!: :) I need to do "something" constructive other than follow a special diet, generic Zantac, Pepto-Bismol, Tums, & Gas-Ex. The only 2 culprits I think this all boils down to is: #1 - Self-induced stress (be it over writing deadlines or visiting grsons) & #2 - Coffee. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out when it's time to quit coffee, this has gone on long enough (since Mother's Day), & since I had this hit me LAST summer, at the same time, I've learned what to do. I need to make a reminder, daily, to actually break down & DO it. :!: :!: :!:

Kathryn , Your shower curtain, etc.. sound pretty all put together, to me! :P I saw some examples of colors being used in different ways & combinations in the "Country Living Magazine." One color combination was black, white, & blue! I thought about YOU- right AWAY- & the colors in your kitchen! One combination, which I thought sounded gaudy was opposites on the color wheel: BLUE & ORANGE! I looked around at our cobalt accent colors here & there with our forest green things & brownish-tan rock fireplace, thinking what orange would look like. DH said, "WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU HAVE THAT LOOK ON YOUR FACE FOR RIGHT NOW!" I told him about orange & HE agrees with me, we're not orange folks in our great room area. Even the cornices would clash with the pale blue, pink, rose, & cream color prints in them, too. Orange? Not for us. But I DID put an orange leather chair & ottoman in a short story in an apartment of 3 roommate gals. ;)

I'm off to put teas on my calendar. Herbal green tea sounds like a good relaxing 1 for afternoons. Herbal teas relax me to the point of drowsiness where I feel like napping. Is this a normal thing with herbal teas? Does anyone else know? :?: I know that different Chai teas make me have an upset tummy. :?

Cowinkie , Your dogs sound WONDERFUL! Thanks for sharing about them, too! :D
