Hello everybody. I haven't been here in a few days at least. But I've cuop and wanted to ask:

Also, Hugs for (Sadie). Glad the ins has approved DS's oper. but know what anxiety you must be feeling.

Sunny, that sounded like a wonderful trip to Pgh. Did you know there are many instant "millonnaires" (think Beverly Hillbillies) from the new oil fracking they're doing in the next county and all around where I used to live? I believe there are some wells down my street at the dairy....1DD told me there are some huge mansions around M__s where none existed before. Rich people moving in? Interesting to see how a city can change.

Sometimes I miss living near the big city, though I've been in the south so long that my attitudes and opinions are now mostly "southern" and I wonder if I would fit in up there again.

Kathryn, that is sad about your friend's DGD. Just awful.
Also, bittersweet, sad to lose the cat who has become loved by the whole staff.

Sorry that Mr. MT's drs. report wasn't better.

I've not been doing so well here. We have many projects in limbo, problems to be solved at the official level... people buy places with outstanding issues with the county and somehow DH has a reputation for being able and willing to work with such issues. These eat up a huge amount of time (and OMM worry for me).

Anyway, I feel as though I am treading water an occasionally can't keep going and the water rises higher... today I am trying to shovel out. Have dryer and washer and DWash going... 2 beds need remade, dishes put away (we were out of forks).

I have dealt with all those blankets DH brought in. They were all clean but I needed to wash them so they "felt" clean to me and smelled like my usual stuff...and the last one is in the washer now. I've been using the dryer for all but these. My last load to be hung outside was out there about 5 days before I remembered it.

My desk is a mess but MOST important stuff is done. I had 2 days of running errands back and forth for DH and that ate up a ton of time. Tomorrow I must meet someone at church and give him some paperwork. I don't usually do this, but this guy has a hard time understanding stuff so I agreed.

DH is doing his 2 days of continuing ed today. My dryer has just dinged so I must be off again.

Harmony, you are one of my OMM, because of things I've wanted to respond to you about. I am with you on textiles having to be laundered or at least decision-ed and am glad you can feel better about all those blankets now. Dd15 received a bunch of pre-owned clothing - to the point we have sorted through the full back seat of items and still have that many again still waiting in the trunk.

Today I have done 3 loads of laundry regarding all this and none of my regular laundry. (Sidetracking a household's regular routines is a big problem with accepting hand-me-down items.) This was one of those situations in which you would feel guilty if you did not say "thank you" and just try to find a use for at least some of the things.

LadyM, Harmony reminds me that it's nice to hear LO feels well enough to go to a marathon for children. Hope he continues to feel better.

Oh, bittersweet, sorry you forgot your cards when you'd intended to work on them.

I ate an all-alone lunch from the freezer (a boxed-food item) that no one else wanted. And it tasted just as bad as they thought it would. Ugh. I do this often, I think. Something wrong with my brain that I think I should take the least-wanted foods. Reminds me of the stories of how my maternal grandmother "liked" chicken backs as her favorite piece of chicken - not.

Harriet, I just read in a women's magazine that the length of time for morning sun, to be able to sleep better at night, is merely 5 minutes. I thought it was cool, how I'd just read that, right after your post.

The DW was loaded and is running. I read and purged 2 magazines, subscribed to a better-price-for-me writer's magazine, to come in 6 - 10 weeks. I'm saving about $6 over what the magazine, is trying to get me to pay, because I was planning to let it lapse. But there's such good info in it, for myself AND Dgs-15.5, so I am glad I found it 48% off.

It's sure getting warm, the umbrella's up on the round patio table, in case kids/adults want to eat outdoors. If not, there is plenty of room at our pub table and eating bar. Dgs is on his laptop, hasn't packed up yet, but his Ddad doesn't come for 2.5 hours yet. I'm hoping our mail comes before Dson arrives, too, so we can sort it and put it away. It's so nice to have the end tables with very little on them. I'm considering getting out a smaller mug for colored pens, rather than using such a huge mug for pencils, highlighters, scissors, etc.. It just takes up so much room that way. I have some smaller straight-sided 2" diameter mugs, which are navy and would look nice on the end tables because our accent colors are cobalt.

LadyM, How wonderful that LO wants to go to a marathon for kids!

RamblinRose, Have a great trip. It's fun to go- it's fun to get home again, too.

I'll wash Dgs-15.5's blanket and pillow case he used so they're clean by the time dgs-14 comes the 20th - 26th. I'll do them later today, after the DW is done and family visitors leave to go home. Then, I'll try to get some 5 x 5 rounds done before 5 p.m. I don't know how long Dson will stay with our Dgs's.

For once in a long time I have some ta-da's.

Last of those blankets is washing, almost ready to hang up. The blankets I kept were heavier woven cotton ones, very nice. One is about twin size and we have no twin beds here, except that size does well with one person sleeping in a bed or especially on the pull out couch bed or on an air mattress where overhangs are not needed. Two wooley ones are out in the garage for DH to use.

Master bed is changed and remade.
Guest bed is changed and remade. I had to take that one apart because the metal support underneath had clunked off with a great clatter and was laying on the floor. I had to take the mattress off and the wooden box spring platform (very heavy) off and with the help of a hammer, replace the metal support. It is adjustable and was way off, and I don't think it was ever supporting anything! I sleep here when DH needs more space or is having a bad-leg time... so I took the blanket off and folded it up to put away. It was just folded across the bottom and it's much too hot to be using in the summer. I'll get it back out if company comes (when we turn down the a/c so people aren't uncomfortable).

Folded up last LOL.

Emptied the dishwasher.

I must be careful not to overdo or I will be a lump of coal for a few days.

Oh Yes! I do love Frank the Beta Fish that lives at Sweetie and RR's house. He loves it when I put my finger on his bowl and start talking. He always rushes right over to check me out.

Oh Yes MT! Nothing like an Arizona or Nevada sunrise and sunset. In Sedona we stay at a Best Western for a night and always get a room with a large veranda across the back of the motel. It faces east and everyone in those rooms are out on the veranda to see the sunrise. Unbelievable! Nothing like it.

RR has got me interested again in my genealogy. I started searching last night to hopefully find some pictures. WALA! Found one that I had never seen before of my great great grandfather Sampson Sutherlin and his family. My grand-father is just a baby and he is sitting on his mother's lap and surrounded by his four sibs. I was so happy to find this, plus there is a book about Sutherlin, Oregon that I ordered. The picture is in that book, plus all kinds of information, some I knew about but not all, of my Sutherlin family. My mother was a Sutherlin. Through that family we are related to Ben Franklin and Abe Lincoln. I want to search that thoroughly.

Mr. Guy had his first PT yesterday and his guy Rick was very happy to see how well he is doing, just with his home exercises and the knee machine. He said he wouldn't be in PT very long. I am so glad because I am very anxious to go to San Jose to see our "babies" (great-grandchildren). We are just too far away from them. I need to see them more often.

Although we talked the other day RR, I want to wish you well again on your trip. I will be thinking of you and hoping you find that "clue" you are looking for in your genealogy.

Typical Saturday here... I've watched all the morning/midday cowboy shows, LOL... but I did manage ONE ta-da: sheets are in the washer.

Need to call dbil and dmom to invite them to birthday party for ddil Monday night. She wants to have pizza and cake here at our house.

Need to vacuum/etc. in prep for Monday night.

I can imagine sorting out that many hand-me-downs would be overwhelming, Harriet... goodness...

I'm simply exhausted and in a bit of heel pain. Finally had to tell dh I couldn't go on.

Today is painting hanging day. I've only manage 3500 steps but I've been on my feet almost all day. Have my foot elevated now and will get some ice soon.

We unpacked all the painting and sorted and sorted and sorted. Finally we had what resembled a plan so dh started hanging. My issue is that his hangs too high. The first was way too high (about 6" too high) and so now there's a hole that has to be patched. It is very frustrating for both of us so there's lots of yelling and sniping.

Only about 15 items are up so far. Out of about 35, possibly 40. The thermostat in the dining room is right where a painting should go so I've arranged a grouping and have literally framed the thermostat as one of the paintings in the grouping. We will mount the rest with command hooks so if it looks awful we can remove them without leaving holes.

Six sets of painting are seasonal, so I'll rotate the paintings for those. The upside is 12 fewer paintings to hang. The downside is I have to find storage for those 12 paintings.

At this point I think I'll nap a bit before I start packing away the off season paintings in the sets that have been started. Over the tv and my desk will also be rotated, along with two sets in the dining room, one in the hall and another in the living room.

I had to give up on colours since I don't have any blue rooms here. I'm hoping the art will overcome the colour issues.

Ds is off biking to see friends. He has a dinner in 90 minutes (so do we for that matter.)

We enjoyed kiacking more than we thought we would. Great for arms and my shoulder is okay after. Notmas much walking as other things we have done stayed up righ h said I was a natural! We forgot a few things so came home for a few min. Ac at the cabin is good but noisy I did not sleep warm enough. Got extra blankets.

Went to the farmers mkt. And breakfast out was a challenge to get there a semi had wrapped. Itself around a power pole. So we had to go on some side streets tomget there. Then power went out at the place we were eating after we got our food and the power co. Said it would be out 7 hrs.

I took 4 half full feed sacks of apples to the corner for the deer.

how is LO feeling?

LO is doing amazing well. After the antibody finally kicked in on Tuesday he has returned to normal. He will be taking the antibodies for 3-4 more days. Then I will take him for a follow up with his doc.

ow long is the children's marathon?

It is only 1/2 mile but they do it up big time with water sprays to run through to keep them cool (it is over 100 degrees today) as well as police/firemen/military stationed all along the running route shouting encouragement to cheer them on. Even I was inspired to keep running by all the encouragement being given.

We missed our weekly Funday (aka Friday) picnic yesterday because having to fix owies @ MPB.. So today we grabbed some food and headed to the lake for lunch. It was spontaneous but totally stupendous.

Thanks, Ivy. I was wondering why I decided to give it 5 min this morning and then felt perfectly within my rights to go back in the house. You would think that I would have figured I needed to over-compensate if I really didn't have a clue. So if you read it somewhere, maybe I heard or read it too, and it was in my subconscious.

Errand day -
Grocery shopping errand done. Gasoline errand done. Vitamin store errand must wait.

LadyM speaking of "Next up" - have employed that phrase a lot myself posting here and I know you have, so it makes me like your avatar, simple and to the point.

Wondering what teachers here think of the Columbus, OH firefighter's invention of the fast individual door bar for classrooms when lockdown is announced? (search should turn up video originally from tv station WSYX, being picked up by lots of stations) I would think it might be used as a prank/troublemaking sometimes by unruly students, but overall if it did offer protection in just a few dangerous incidents, the frustrations might be worth it.
