Wow, it IS quiet here today!

(((Dee))) Remembering.

Awww... (((Harriet)))... try to believe dss and HRH and try not to worry about the dog... I know that is nerve-wracking, though. (((HUGS)))

It has been pretty quiet and simple in lucyland today... we have slept all day long. Didn't go to church after getting in so late last night and having such a long day. But I really shouldn't be complaining -- I slept absolutely all the way down there. We ate breakfast about 45 minutes from home, and then I remember hearing ds say something to dh about "malfunction junction" in major city traffic... I remember glancing at a bridge somewhere along the way, and the next thing I knew, we were turning off at the college town road. * whew *

BUT -- it was sooo hot, until a little while after the game started. Sweat just pouring off of us, and we had to stand and visit and etc etc w/the group and dniece's tailgate party. She's on the dance team, and this was the week dbil/dsisil had to host it -- so we were invited, and felt obligated to attend, but it added another hour to our day.

OTOH -- ddil decided that yesterday would be the day to start potty training. So far, I do not think they are having a lot of success, but apparently efforts are continuing today. Tomorrow we will have him for a few hours while ds provides music for a funeral. And then Tuesday, dh will want to take him to the nursing home and that takes about 3.5 hours, altogether... so THAT would definitely be interesting. I don't think they should go back to diapers till they've given this a fair chance, and 3 days is probably not long enough, right? (They are not following the book I gave them w/the3-day plan, just winging it, as they are prone to do.) So I will be lobbying to stay at home w/dgs Tues. if things have not changed rapidly.

Wed. is my check-up at ob-gyn... and someday this week, we plan to go to dmil's and start dividing furniture w/dbil. THAT will be interesting, too.

I have not even s2s today, and it is after 5:00 p.m. I have done my allergy shots however, and I wrote the check for the paper man.
Tomorrow is another day.

Not a restful type of day here either. LO and I did lay down for about 30 minutes before it was time to go to his friend birthday party. Two hours of a dozen excited children running around....nope, not restful at all.

This coming week only has one day without appts. Only one evening spent at home.

Tomorrow I'll go with DH to his quarterly diabetic checkup at 9am (and hopefully the doctor isn't running behind). We will then dash across big city to attend DCousin husband funeral at 10:00am. Then go to family funeral meal being served at the church. We will have to watch the time so we will arrive back home in time to meet LO school bus. We will have about an hour to do Monday folder, homework, read 2 books and eat dinner before leaving for Karate & taekwondo lessons. Those lessons end about 30 minutes before LO bath/bed routine starts.

Dinner tonight was pulled pork, baked potato & fix'ins. I have a salad and jello prepared to eat but I'm stuffed.

I'm exhausted. Probably should have napped after getting home but it was a lovely day so I wanted out on my bike if only for a short distance (which it was.)

We left at 8:45 and dh did the music for 3 services. I just sang the anthem with him (Daddy Sang Bass) at the first church and helped lead the 'round'. At the second church I had those two parts plus a part in the blessing of the backpacks.

Our regular service ended at 12:15 and then with coffee hour we didn't get to the house until 1 p.m. Dropped off stuff, picked up stuff and then headed for a quick lunch, having just 20 minutes to order and eat. Made it to the afternoon service with a few minutes to spare.

It went well but low attendance for some reason. A lot are sick. One thought she was dying last Sunday but was in church this Sunday so suspects she took her meds twice. We had a good talk after - she's scared and tired and alone (one son lives far away and her adopted son who lives closer is estranged.)

After the final service we picked up dh's chinese drinks and then came home. I went through the flyer and found pork on sale so we biked to that store and picked it up and I made up a tenderloin using a different, more healthy way of cooking. Also made butternut squash but dh wouldn't eat it so he made his own potatoes and veggies and had the salad I made to round out my dinner. I needed to eat well tonight because I ate poorly this afternoon.

Had a lousy night's sleep. Got to sleep late, was up and down all night, woke up around 6:30 a.m., and ended up napping later, for only 1 hour, on and off. I feel much better, after a rest and coffee.

It was 80* here today.

I've been working on snail mail.

We stripped the bed, I bleached sheets again, we made the bed fresh and look forward to climbing in tonight. Fresh sheets are so nice!

DH is running the DW now. We washed up and hung all the towels/put them away. We pooped out before we could wash the master bathroom rugs and mop the bathroom tile floor. :( We're shooting for Monday or Tuesday instead.

Kathryn, Your day sounded tiring, to me, too. :( Sorry a lot of people are sick.

Condolences to you and your dfamily, on losing your DCousin husband, LadyMaverick.

(((Dee)))

(((Harriet))) + (((HRH))) + Dfamily.

Waving to Lucylee, Twins' Mom, Nancy, and Dee. Need to get back to "12 Years a Slave."

We (dh & I) must be growing up. LOL... Instead of going out to a movie tonight, we went ahead and bought groceries @ Wmart instead. Actually, we probably would have gone out, but the only movie dh had any interest at all in (Boyhood) was starting at almost 11:00 p.m., and it's over 2 hours long, so that was too late for even him. Besides, dh feels totally miserable. He is very exhausted and sleep-deprived after yesterday's activity, too.

Then, in email news, I got all nervous, b/c I agreed to do the college-kid mentoring thing w/our church again this year, and I am afraid I'm going to look cheap/tacky, b/c my student has her sister living with her, and I'm afraid the sister's mentor is going to do more for her than I do mine. * sheesh * The letter from church says plainly, "You have not signed a contract to lavish expensive gifts on your student. Consistent contact is the goal..." Then there are almost 3 pages listing possible gift ideas/goody packages, etc. * sheesh *
Last year, I did not send ANY gifts. (Same student). I tried to contact her every month w/just a quick message, Hello, how you doing, etc. She is a former student and newspaper staff member of mine, and she is attending our college of choice, so we have a lot in common, but she is just not the type to really seem like she wants or needs someone to "mentor" her, you know? She is very self-confident, mature, hopes to graduate nursing school in Dec. 2016, I believe she told me.
Of course, the sister was also a former student of mine and on the np staff, too... but this is the sister's first year at this college.
I think I will email the other mentor and just tell her that there is no way under the sun I am going to be sending $25 gift cards every month or anything LIKE that... so I was kinda wondering what her "goals" are for her student. I think a gift card/goody package ($25 max) at Christmas, birthday, and maybe end of the year before exams would be adequate -- plus cards and messages, etc. I would hate for the sister to get loads of stuff and mine to get basically nothing, you know.
OH -- and btw -- these girls are not from a disadvantaged home or anything like that -- their parents are quite capable of taking good care of their needs. The program is just to make them feel like they are still a part of our church family. Which actually -- LOL -- I think before they graduated high school these two had left our church for the more popular, mega-contemporary church in the area, anyway. So dh thinks this is all kinda silly.

I love fresh sheets on the bed, FF. Hope you have a better night's rest tonight!

Oh, that is sad, for your dfriend you mentioned who thought she was dying, Kathryn. Glad you were able to talk with her.

(((LadyM))) for loss of dcousin's husband. Sounds like quite a busy day ahead of you -- and week.

Waving to Twins... Nancy... Sunny, and all who may pop in later!
Tomorrow is another day.

Wrote tomorrow's to do list. Cleared off the anniversary cards and funeral directions off the dining room table. Got into a gown with Muumuu over it, added a couple items to the Costco list for DH to go tomorrow. He'll go to a grocery store, too.

My FM pain's acting up, so will take it easier tomorrow, stretch, do yoga, and in-house timed walking. Can't overdo when it's acting up or it just gets unbearable and worst. :x It's odd, too, because it's not acted up for such a long time, but been thinking about Christmas today, things to make, housework I want to get done this week, and I guess it was "overwhelm" for a bit. :?:  :o

Will watch a movie about a horse starring Margaret O'Brien tomorrow, on TCM Channel. I'll crochet while it's on. I love her, used to own a mare and colt, so love horses, too. DH won't let me have one because of too much $$, and I'd probably fall off it and break a hip, leg or my silly neck anyway!

I can't believe how fast time has sped by from Friday, when we had our W/A, to tomorrow/Monday!
