TUESDAY TRIUMPH!

Post by DeeClutter »

All I can say, Kathryn, is "WHEW" -I was worn out and not even there! Hope you find a spare moment to rest and catch your breath.

I've been up for a while (actually slept fairly well last night (shhh don't say it out loud!) Been doing puttery things and feeling fairly triumphant in cleared and organized spaces.

Dh went to work at oh....dark thirty. Just a tad hazy this morning but not fog like yesterday. Hoping it's like this when I actually leave in 16 days. Going to update lists now so that I have one for dh that's just the last minute things he'll need to check or do when he leaves in about a month. He's thinking now since November 1st isn't until a Saturday that it may well be the 3rd or 4th before he gets out of here.

Good morning all! I'm popping in to say "hi" before the day gets crazy. My haircut appt. this afternoon was cancelled, which adds about 2.5 hours to my day (and week)! Yay! I'll reschedule for next week which should be less crazy.

You're heading back down to FL in 16 days, Dee?

We're cooler today. I think we're supposed to be back to sunny skies with a high of 75 on Thursday - before rains come on Friday. Maybe the last hurrah before autumn arrives in earnest.

Today, I'd like to:
- work on moms group teaching for Thursday. It's a topic I've taught before, though I'll need to revamp my notes. Kind of a continuation from my teaching 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping to put in at least 4 hours.
- email moms group cc coordinator to tell her what to do to help her be more independent - so I'm not doing half her job.
- prep bedroom and bathroom for dfriend staying here Th. - Saturday. I'll work in these rooms during study breaks as I prep for teaching Thursday.
- go buy tea! I forgot tea when I went to the groc. store yesterday, so I'm stuck drinking earl grey, which is OK - just not my morning fav.
- go buy coffee for moms group - TJ or WF
- laundry catch up: 1 load of darks, then towels and bedding.
- cards in mail?
- prep for class today
- teach
- dinner: pasta w/ tuna, salad, rolls
- kitchen clean
- garbage and recycling to curb
- maybe go for a walk? I did jog yesterday
- prep for class I'm subbing tomorrow a.m.

Probably too much for one day. Priority #1 is progress on the teaching for Thursday.

Yes, I'm afraid so, Helia. Plan to leave October 16th. Have a Dr. appointment on the 15th -of course I'll be watching the weather. If it's stormy on the east coast we'll go down through Charlotte or vice versa. I'd like to leave the afternoon after my appointment but not sure the gal who's riding down with me would want to leave then. I'd just like to get some of the trip under my belt. Dh is the one who wants me to 'get out of Dodge' -because he's afraid the weather will be too cold for me. Of course this week has been stellar for many days now. But it will all end soon.

Guess I best get back to puttering and getting things done on the computer. I'm off>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Monday - haircut for me

Tuesday - yoga, groceries extras for today.

I loved the coin maths lesson. I like food/sweets as the other maths learning prompt. Esp for division.

My mind is still twirling at Kathryn's ds's move. How many blockades could you possibly encounter? Extra points for surmounting difficulties for sure.
Also wanted to congratulate KIC's DS on his successful work out here. There have been a few scandals since of backpacker workers being really badly treated in terms of pay and living conditions.

I need a better cloth bag solution. Something just for glasses, purse, keys - that will make keys quiet as noise is discouraged on arrival and departure. The cloth ones I have have the stitch unraveling problem someone spoke of.
Left my glasses on yoga mtg hall and had to go back for them, then left my water bottle outside the loo and had to walk all the way back from the car for that. By the time I was finished collecting groceries my ankles had has enough.
Still - I was lax and just wore slides i/l sneakers. So maybe that was the issue. I'm still limping, but mostly ankles/feet aren't as painful.
Hoping I'm not as stiff tomorrow as the last 2 times I was there.

I must get myself to bed. bbr calls.
Good night.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

2day saw h off to work had an "in target" bs reading today. Successfully transitioned to the new med regime. Hoping to get some knitting done. Enjoying brousing through my crafting knit and crochet mags. Up a bit early. We had rain in the nite, my ear is better today. S2s done. Thinking of you all. Next up journaling. Get a letter ready to post. Decide on dinner.

Thanks Dee. I think I get some time to myself in late November! Until then, life will be insanely busy.

I'm a little sad about the chairs we have brought yesterday; they don't have homes yet so this apartment looks unsettled now.

When I decided to 'downsize' I decided to live with the 4 kitchen chairs (and table) plus 6 chairs that belong to the dining table, a side chair that matches but is smaller, and the "captain's chair" that my dad used to sit in. That would make 12 and if I needed 14, I'd use two office chairs.

So the chairs we brought over in the past few days were put up for sale. And didn't sell.

In the past few months I've re-learned 1) that the original chairs for the table are too low and uncomfortable and (so have added cushions to them) and 2) planning to use kitchen table chairs doesn't work if you don't actually bring the kitchen table to the apartment!

So I can only seat 11, including the office chairs. It is easy to count 12 or and that won't be enough. CM's family plus mine adds up to 10 but add in a date for ds, dfs and his wife, or grandchildren and I won't have enough chairs. In the meantime, the chairs sat, unsold, at the house.

That's why we moved 5 more here yesterday instead of leaving them to donate. Obviously, I don't have room for all of them, nor would I like to keep them all. So I have decisions to make. I suppose the first is to figure out if the table will fit in the dining room fully open. I haven't tried that yet and it occurs to me that at the house the table, when full, had me sort-of sitting in the hall and dh in the office. Here we can push into the living room a little bit but behind my end of the table is the china cabinet (which cuts 2' off the length of the room. So it is possible the table won't fully open here.

I will keep two extra at least since I have room for one at the music keyboard (and can replace the ugly bench it came with) and cram one in the front hall (required for putting boots and shoes on once winter arrives.)

All this has to be resolved before next Tuesday when we have guests again.

In the meantime, dh and I just spent a half hour bickering over the internet (which still isn't working properly despite spending another $300 in new equipment.) We think we've finally figured out the issue but need to learn how to solve it. Signal strength isn't the issue but there's a conflict between the two wireless systems.

Lynlee: Abuse of backpackers is a problem. I wonder how many of those in the news were female. Certainly, the ex-TGF had a completely different story to tell about her work at the resort than ds. He could make up to $30/hour washing dishes, but she was a runner in the pub and never made a penny more than the minimum wage. The owner kept things legal but discriminated against females. Her jobs in Sydney were worse (street jobs approaching people to get them to sign up for things.) Ds refused to take a job like that since he hated being accosted in the street so much.

Ds just called so he's ready for us to come help him. We haven't s2s or eaten breakfast yet, so poof!

Good morning. My mind can't get off the thought that I'm so glad I'm not moving right now. Sometimes I look around here at the stuff in this house (it isn't packed, we just have a lot of rooms) and I try to figure out how we'll ever downsize. I know it will be a lot of work someday.

Was not sleeping well, goofy dreams I wish I'd not had, and worries over a job that's going on. So, I got up and started in on my day a couple hours earlier than usual. I was hanging up clothes outside before it was light out.

Sheets are washing now. Desk almost done for today. I am stuck here at home because we're expecting a big delivery and I won't know until an hour before when they're coming, then I must be here to help DH load. I guess I'll work on that sewing project in the meanwhile.

Good morning, villagers ~
I've been up since 5:20 doing quiet jobs. I got a good 5 hours of sleep last night and feel much better than I did yesterday morning, though I will probably still need a short nap this afternoon.

Today's 5x5 in addition to 3Ds:
* go to library to pick up cash donations
* bank deposit for library group
* begin month-end reports for library group
* begin month-end reports for sewing group
* make decisions about decluttering & cleaning goals for October

Nancy ~ Glad you are feeling better today.

Kathryn ~ How often will you need the chairs? Any chance of finding really nice padded folding chairs that could be stored until you need them?

Harmony ~ I'm with you on being glad I'm not moving. Really not looking forward to moving DMIL next month or dealing with clearing out her house next spring. However, it will be easier to move her than it would be to move DH and myself! Must admit that there have been times when I have thought that a tornado coming through to flatten our house would not be a totally bad thing ... at least then all the stuff would be cleared away and we'd be left with lots of empty space ...

Don't make me swim the big pond over there & up the river (oh! just remembered -I can't swim :o ). Well you'll have to rest on your own, Kathryn!

Finished the dishes and rearranged the top food shelf so I could put the flour and brown sugar up there for the winter. Not really concerned about mice in those upper cupboards but never sure of the lower ones. Have a large box of food things for dh to bring with him -just hope it won't be too heavy for him to get to the truck. He may end up eating some of them -such as graham crackers & popcorn out of there, but not much else.

I have 2 pieces of glass from my Mom's chandelier over our dining room table. For the life of me I can't figure how they were attached. I'd like to string them to something and let them hang in the windows as a suncatcher. But can't figure out how to do that. Perhaps dh will have an idea. I don't even know how I ended up with them. I'd seen others around here that were just the tear drop shape, but these 2 have an additional ball strung from the end. They're too pretty to throw out and a very nice reminder of dMom. Perhaps if I ever figure it out, I'll give one to DD in FL -she was especially close to her DGrandma.

When we cleaned out dShelley's house I had reached the front door and something urged me to go back & look at her window over her sink -the blinds there had been down. I raised them and there was a pink glass butterfly with a small caption about thanking the teacher. I took it down, planning to keep it and it instantly came to me -"No, give it to dd (FL) as a remembrance from her sister." It has hung over DD/FL's sink window ever since. This diamond shape would be a special pairing, I'm sure. Have to figure this out! Perhaps I'll wrap both carefully, take them with me & give dd one for Christmas. THEN, perhaps between the 2 of us we'll figure out something. Thanks for letting me 'talk' this out to me.

Good morning, All.

I am Fine as Frog's hair this morning. I've had PB toast and juice for breakfast, walked with DH and Dakota and am ready to meet the day. Slept all night in the bed!!!! :!: :!: :!: :!:

Two meetings at church today - just far enough apart that I need to come home. Nothing to do up the hill for 3 hours.

Yesterday, I was able to get everything plus more done on my list EXCEPT . . . . you guessed it - work 15 minutes in the Den. I am having such a block about even going thru the door. (Maybe cause I can barely get THRU the door.) I'll beat it at some point - but I wish it was sooner than later.

I need to get moving here - next up is exercise. I found some that I can do while on the bed. Sure helps my old bones not to be on the hard floor - plus the getting up and down. I am also doing them gently and slowly so I don't hurt the incision. Still pulls a bit so want to be careful.
