Norma, we will be right in there cheering for those Giants with you! (I know I've told you before, we're a little partial to Tim Hudson, since he's an AU grad! )

Well... s2s... talked to ds... they will not be going w/us tonight, so looks like just dh and me -- unless dbil changes his mind and calls me back. Don't much blame any of them -- our team lost pretty badly last week, and they are not optimistic for tonight. But you know, dh... old coaches never die... and we're still having a really good year, compared to the norm around here.

DS said ddil was going to stay home tomorrow, too... so I am wondering how she will ever manage Sunday TOO, and then work Sunday night. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Oh -- and I sent an email to my college-pal, the girl I'm supposed to be "mentoring." * sheesh * So far I have sent her two emails. I also sent message to dfriend at church who is supposed to be mentoring her sister. I certainly do hope this friend is not sending the sister all kinds of goody baskets and stuff, making me look bad, you know. I want to coordinate our efforts and maybe share the costs of any material items we send them, and dfriend said she'd call me or we'd talk at church -- but so far, I've heard nothing from her. She sings in the choir at church and stays for Sunday School, and we go out the opposite door, so I never really run into her there, anyway.

We had a nice night out at Swiss Chalet.

First, the rental car guy came. Not sure who he was in the scheme of things but he could not believe 1) how long we had to wait and 2) that anyone told us we'd be penalized for not returning the car full. We now have a Chrysler 300 which is very big but more comfortable than the Volvo (due to being bigger.) It also has a GPS which will be useful for tomorrow.

The rental car was sending a tow truck. Note: all the warning said was "Coolant low, pull over safely and stop." There was no indication of overheating and the warning would come and go. Do you think anyone has bothered to actually pop the hood and check the fluid level? Nope. Well I thought of it but I refuse to do it because it ain't my job.

After the car arrived (4 hours after our call) we picked up Unc who was tickled that we had a new car to play with.

When we said we didn't want dessert because we had birthday cake at home, the whole "He's 102" story came out (except now he's calling himself 1.02 centuries old!) A few minutes later, instead of the bill, a piece of chocolate cake with a candle and a crowd of singing staff showed up!

We visited for a bit at his house (and dh ate more of the other cake since it isn't chocolate) and Unc gave us a pressure cooker so we can make the candy at home (it takes a heavy pot, a stainless one won't do.) This is a Presto pressure cooker he won in the 40's. Still works. We'll be packing it in our suitcases (lid in one piece, pot in the other!) and hope it gets home fine.

We said goodbye so our day tomorrow will go smoother. We are awfully pressed for time since it is a 2 - 2.5 hour drive in each direction. But my cousin will have us for lunch and he lives near Whitepoint so we'll take dsis there to see the new lodge.

We need to be at the airport by 5:30 but can bypass the city on the way back so that will save time.

We'll check in tonight and print off boarding passes as well.

(((Twins' Mom))), So sorry to read about your fall, after such a happy occasion, too. Hoping you heal soon, get back to feeling normal, too.

Nancy, That's such interesting news about your mom's roots, and all.

I'm rooting for the Giants, too. My DGUncle used to live in S. F., cheer them on, and I recall his shouting, cussing, and cheering so loudly, in his bedroom, from his big chair in front of his TV. What a character; what a love he was. ♥

I had an a.m. Dr. appt., then x-rays on a pinky finger. DH drove me to the wrong place 1st, then I told him the Outpatient Radiology place, we got there, they had a big back-up, so we were sent, with a map, to another place altogether. I'm awaiting news from y Dr., as to if my finger's broken or not. If it is, he said he'd either splint it or tape it to my ring finger. I also got my eyeglasses adjusted, because the right-side nose piece was digging into my nose. The nose piece is one piece of plastic, molded with the eyeglasses frames and not adjustable. I just checked my red mark on my nose, from them, it's lighter in pink, and not raw sore medium red. They're comfortable, feel good, and I'm so glad we went. I kept going the wrong way today, kept forgetting where we parked, and I was a total "air-head", too. I can't figure it out, because I slept so well last night and am well-rested. DH kept saying comments like "Where are you going?" "Boy, I'm glad I'm driving now, or you'd have us in the Southern part of the state." I asked him "Are you saying I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag?" He laughed and said "Boy, you got THAT right!" It was too funny. I guess you needed to "be there". Dr. also suggested that I buy a little ball to squeeze or get one of those little alien dolls, you squeeze, and then their eyes go BUGGED! Never heard of such a thing! But I DID go to my Bunny Room, to my corner curio cabinet, found a small stuffed bunny, DH got me for Easter, a couple of years ago. It's the perfect size. I wrap my hand around her torso, squeeze, and it feels good to me, too. It's cheap, because it's already here and free. We don't "need" to purchase a new ball or alien doll.

It's raining here on and off, it's cool, with dark cloudy skies, too. The weekend is supposed to clear up, be nicer, and it'll be enjoyable. I need to work on stories this weekend and Christmas crochet.

Lucylee, Good luck on the mentoring. I hope it works out. You're the most giving person! You seem to always "be there" for others, to me. I enjoy hearing what you're up to, too.

Kathryn, Molasses candy sounds delicious! I've never heard about it, but heard about taffy. They make it in the old Seaside, OR town, where Dsis used to live. They make it in one downtown store. You get to watch. Then you pick out whatever you want to have.

I can see the photos quite well, Kathryn and have shown to HRH and dd. So far, no luck with video, which is not starting to download for me, but HRH will look at it for me later. Anyway, that first photo is especially good I think. What an immaculate kitchen, so well appointed, too.

Sunny, thank you for the webcam link, although by the time I got to it I couldn't see much. Obviously the wind is very high.

FFriend, I hope your finger feels better.

I am being threatened (not really) with a very big day tomorrow. HRH and dstepson are cooking something up. I'd better get some sleep.

Oh, the long-awaited medicine cabinet arrived - with a crack in the door frame around the mirror. HRH is super disappointed and has emailed the fellow about it. He doesn't think it happened in transit because the packaging was impressively thick, and it's the door, not a corner. We have been a long time without a mirror in the front bathroom now. At this point, we have an inexpensive full length mirror turned sideways along the vanity. Resourceful, yes, and looks pretty, until you would like to see all of your face at once. Great for children.

Oh, Harriet! You're so LUCKY! Enjoy your day tomorrow, too! Hope you get rested up for it, too!

My finger has hurt more, since the xrays were taken, because 1 of the positions, was awkward and it hurt so bad to put my finger into that particular position. I'm "hoping", if it's NOT broken, how Dr. orders of squeezing on small squishy toys/balls, will help it. I'd sure hate to be taped to the ring finger for 5 - 6 months. It'd make keying stories so "challenging", but I'd just need to temporarily "train" other fingers to take its place.

Good luck, Harriet, on your medicine cabinet problem. Hoping it won't take long to get a replacement for it.

Kathryn, The Swiss Chalet sounds really nice! I love to read your posts of your travels, vacations, and activities. You do such interesting things. Sorry about the rental car.

Harmony, How's it going this evening? Any better? I hope it is getting better for you tonight and you get a good sleep, too.

Dh and I went for a walk. My knees are shot and my foot is heading that way too. But I spent most of the day yesterday in the car, semi-folded up in the back seat. So it is no wonder I'm sore from all that sitting. I sat most of today as well - with only 2800 steps until the walk. Now I'm at 9500.

I'm off to bed now.

Your mirror story made me smile, Harriet. DD with the ongoing remodeling project that never got finished had taken down a plate glass wall mirror and it was standing up in her bedroom along a wall. Big huge thing. One DGS pushed another DGS into it (boys will be boys) and it cracked and he got stitches in his back/side. Too bad about the medicine cabinet. Annoying, I'll bet.

We had some dinner and I soaked dishes. Fell asleep for a while till DH needed me in the office. I didn't even know it had gotten dark and he had come inside! Got our paperwork done and emailed off. I think that's it for today finally. I am exhausted.

I'm sore too, Kathryn. Too much sitting.

Okay I am getting molasses cookies when I am at the store tomorrow. Found interesting info on line about that after I was looking for the fog lite swich for the jeep and a crochet pattern.

Nancy, I read what you posted, really fast, and it sounded like you keep your crochet pattern in the Jeep and you needed the fog light switch to find it better.

Harmony, That's too bad about your DGS getting stitches on his back/side, too. Yes, boys will be boys.

I finished 1 pair of origami potholders, put them into my hope chest with the snowflake hot pad to go with it. Then, I finished a hot pad for a Dfriend, to go with her origami potholders, too. I'm wearing down, so might not do much crochet tonight. It's been a big day.

I got up at 7 a.m., had to be at the Dr. office at 10 a.m., got my eyeglasses adjusted after that, at the eye clinic, and after that, we went to 3 places, before we finally got to the correct location for xrays. I did so much walking today! Now, I'm tired. But I need to write tomorrow's list, do my QVAR, floss, etc.... My office needs tidying up, too. Would like to do it before bedtime.

Kathryn, you did great on your steps. I hope your knees and foot/feet are better tomorrow, after a good rest.
