Congratulations to Kathryn's ds!
And congratulations to Harriet's dd AND Harriet -- dd for being "marketable" and Harriet for proving Mother knows best, in re: to shoes.
In re: to baseball... well... THAT didn't go the way we planned, did it, Norma? * whew * Well... we'll get 'em tomorrow night.
Also sending a big WTG to the men in Sadie's household.
And also glad to see that the sewing basket is going to dniece who will treasure it, BookSaver.
(((HUGS))) for dgd, Nancy! Halloween will soon be over, thank goodness.
Dmom was telling me tonight about another treasure she had unearthed in her closet decluttering. Embroidered, decorative pIllowcase souvenir from WWII... a gift to dgmother (dmom's mother) from a boyfriend who was lost at sea. His body was never recovered. It is such a horrible, tragic story. DGM was very stoic about it by the time I knew her... said "It probably wouldn't have worked out... he drank... sometimes the Lord just takes care of things..." But as dmom said, you don't keep a pillowcase for over 50 years for no reason.
And of course, dmom went into HER story of the dfriend who she had her life planned with, to be missionaries, before his tragic death at 15... and again, how God probably never had it in his plan for her to be married to begin with... but -- as I've said before, she left her suds in the bucket and ran off with my dad at 16.
Life can take strange paths. I'm sure my brother, ds, and I are very glad dgm and dmom DID end up with the men they got. My dgfather walked on water...

and without ddad, I'd be a totally different person... although he was far from perfect, I have to admit. And I bet I inherited the OCD and anxiety problems from HIS side of the family, to be honest.
Oh well... anyway, dmom sounded good. Neurologist found nothing at all abnormal with her brain scans, and said if she has trouble "retrieving" information at times, and focusing, that is to be expected, and could be a side effect of her pain med -- BUT, pain itself would be/is a great distractor from mental focus as well, so he advised her to continue with the meds. And also said she performed better than last year on the memory test he gives, so that was reassuring.
It is sad about the rocket -- thankful that no one was on board, but as Harriet said, it must be terribly disappointing and frustrating to those on the space station awaiting supplies.
I cannot imagine being on the space station. I cannot even imagine myself being able to do something like that.
