Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
It is taking me double or triple times longer to get things done when I don't do them in order. I can either get frustrated or just use it as a refresher lesson WHY I choose to follow an hourly plan. When I don't have a time limit to get a task done I become a world champion sidetracker. Although I'm not being lazy by stopping to do things that need to be done, however I'm not accomplishing the things that I have decided to do today.
I'm still working on cards I normally do almost effortlessly between 5am - 6am.
repeating to myself .....take this as a lesson. Learn from it. Use it as a reminder

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
I just now finished my report and sent to the temple office mgr who will print two-sided for the meeting tonight and save me the time, paper and ink.
Must get moving, outside temp is up to 42 and I am way behind on steps.
-call to ck time of dmom's dr appt tomorrow
-make the bed
-s2s
-walk ddogs
-reboot laundry
-put reminder on Facebook re: event tonight at temple
After this I will head to grocery, cleaners and food bank and let the other errands fall to tomorrow. Will drive by post office to mail letter also.
Agreeing with LM, with the addition that if it's something I'm not enthusiastic about doing, I'm 10 times more sidetracked along the way. When I don't have a time limit to get a task done I become a world champion sidetracker.

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
Hmmm. Thinking about things here. I don't get sidetracked so easily, though I do get into in-depth projects / cleaning deeper than necessary along the way (is that getting sidetracked?). My problem is interruptions. Phone calls. DH. Today I made him wait till I had checks written and out in the box so they'd catch the mailman. Then I tackled the paperwork in the office with him. I don't usually have the luxury of doing that.
It would never work around here if I kept to cards or lists strictly... and it took me a long long while not to get frustrated if other stuff got in the way of MY schedule and things just didn't get done. Sometimes when I have to stop to take care of other stuff I get so tired or stressed I never do get back to the original work.
I guess one has to adapt to their life. If a strict card schedule works for you, then the trick is to remember to work that system. If being more flexible works, then that's what to do. Sometimes I'm doing my morning routine in the evening! I've just had to realize if I do enough stuff consistently, however it gets done, things don't dissolve into chaos around here. But when the workloads around here get too big and not enough basics get done, that's when there's problems.
I just keep on keepin' on!
Until I get tired or frustrated, then I sit in front of the TV or read a book!
I slept in a long while this morning. It was so cold in here I couldn't sleep and finally in the middle of the night got up and looked around for the blanket. Once I warmed up I was able to sleep. It was in the 40's here, not too bad, but we've not been running any heat yet. Remember, we're used to the house at 80 and outside at 90+. This is cold for us!
I had lots of trouble formatting my new template today and ended up after an hour cutting and pasting and copying. So lame. After that was done and scanned and emailed, I thought well, I'll sit and play around with it and see if I can learn how to do this. Wouldn't you know the first place I put my curser the little box came up where I could move the field around... whola (sp?) I had it! Sheesh what a waste of time.
I think I'll go do my morning dailies now.

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
Good Day! (Morning here, afternoon there.) We just came from the eye doctor - both Mr. Guy and I and that means we each have one more appointment to keep before time to go south. Me tomorrow for my mani and MG with his prostate guy. I am so glad when all of our appointments are done until late next spring. It is a drag!
Where is Feline Friend? I am missing her chatty posts. Hope she is not sidelined with the bad cold some of us have had. I think my cough will never go away. Very disconcerting to be bothered with that when I have other things to do.
It is cold here - quite cold. We have storms coming in off the Pacific coast. I just want them to be over with so we can leave on the 30th as planned. Going over Mammoth Mountain in California is not fun when there is snow and ice and -24 as it was a few years ago. That was an experience.
Hope all of you are well. I hope our San Jose Sharks got out of Buffalo last night. They played the Sabres (4-1) and the 1 was our score. UGH! When I saw the pictures on TV this morning of the snowstorm I wondered if they even got out.
Again - Feline Friend - come back as soon as you can.

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
Harmony - Exactly! well saidI just keep on keepin' on!
The first 2 hours of my day are usually all mine. All alone. There are almost never any interruptions in those first 2 hours and I can plow through an immense amount of cards. This morning DD started txting me about 30 minutes after I woke up to discussion DGD3 medical needs next week. I lost my focus on following my cards and then one thing lead to another..... All good though. This morning I received two inquiries about MPB from potential buyers. And fielded four phone calls about Birthday house closing. That required further phone calls on my part to confirm the decisions. So.....I can legitimately find an "excuse" or reason while I am so off track. But the unexpected happens almost daily and I usually recover quickly. But not today.......
I am concerned about how next week will play out. I've decided to set my priorities and let everything else work around them....or not. I told DH last night that I was NOT moving next week. I want to keep my focus on DGD3 and LO. I also asked DH if he was okay about us telling DMIL that we would not be hosting Thanksgiving this year at either house. DH is fine with it. I had already talked with DMIL and she is expecting the decision. My focus is going to be on a 3 year old girl that has moved 9+ times this year. A 3 year old girl that has slept in 3 different houses this past week. A 3 year old girl that will be surrounded by people who love her but she doesn't know very well. I've seen DGD3 upset and she can be more than a challenge to reign in......I need to keep things level and calm for her I want to keep her needs first during her stay here. Everything else can just slip & slide.......
Good news - This morning the Realtor called with 2 more appointments to show our home this week.
Bad news - two more times for strangers to come into our home.
I have a love/hate relationship with showing our home while living in it.

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
Back at the hotel.
Toured the Bata shoe museum and learned all about the history of shoes. Did that with two of the wives here. Then we had a light lunch and they went back to the hotel and I walked around the University of Toronto campus. It is an old university (for Canada) with beautiful architecture.
I went to the theological bookstore (stumbled across it by accident) and then doubled back and walked around Emmanuel which is the seminary for my denomination. It is a beautiful building. I missed chapel by just 30 minutes (sigh) but enjoyed looking through the pictures of grads. Couldn't find my minister friend but just looked up his year and may walk back.
Walked through a lovely park and several lovely courtyards and got back to dh's building on the science and tech side of the campus. He and I walked back to the hotel together.
Our friends from Virginia are stuck here and were going to come home with us but the hotel finally found a room for them (they first said the hotel was full) so they will wait out the storms here. The meetings continue on until Friday so he'll just start attending the second working group since the working group he and dh are involved with is done.
We are going out to dinner with them tonight but first, dh and I are going for another walk.

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
The house across the street has had several offers and they brought roofing for it this week so it appears to have sold. The leaves are not all down but I raked what had fallen great exercise & hens love to play in them. It is 41* & sunny outside here now. Only half hr. Of toddler duty the mom had a schedule mix up.
Did a couple of errands.

Lovely walk with dh in the snow. It is coming down hard now and traffic is backed up.
We have a few minutes until we meet for dinner.

Re: WINTRY WEDNESDAY
This morning was our first morning, of NOT being in the 20's for a week! It's warmed up, rain's forecast for about a week. It'll be so much better- aching-arthritis-Fibromyalgia-wise- with warmer rain temps!
Had bad asthma this a.m., then the rescue inhaler made me jittery. I hate that, but am so happy I'm breathing better!
DH bought our turkey dinner with the trimmings, today, too. We got a good price at Costco. He went to Sears to buy himself 3 more turtlenecks. I stripped the fleece knit bed sheets, while he was gone, washed sheets, and re-made the bed. Those sheets are $38 from Costco, they're warm, cozy to sleep in, and we sleep so well, too. They're a dream and so much easier to sleep in than the flannel ones.
Need to clean out 2 china cabinets before Thanksgiving, but it won't be today. Needing to crochet 1 last tub bath puppet, too, for a gift for Christmas, then I'm all done with Christmas. The 3 mailers are addressed, with cards/gifts inside, too. When we mail them out, we'll get holiday stamps, too, to send our cards. We get phone calls from Dfriends, who tell DH, "YOUR card, once AGAIN, was the FIRST ONE we got this year!" Then, they laugh and laugh!
Have a good afternoon, Everybody!
