Re: Wednesday What if.....
Dadgummit. I lost a long post that I was writing when dh got home. I left it sitting and then when I came back to the computer I was logged out.
Enough to say that dr appt with dmom was quite stressful tomorrow and her cognitive skills seem to be decreasing rapidly.
And my patience at taking care of other people is running short.
Dh got home and I cooked up dinner - chicken breasts on George F oreman grill, roasted butternut squash with apples and a green salad for me. There's an extra chicken breast to to to the refrigerator.
Ddogs walked again, I'm up to 94010 steps, just want to get to 10K.
I'm also somewhat in the kitchen...I started bread to take with us for T-giving tomorrow at dfriends. Need to get it shaped and baked now.

Re: Wednesday What if.....
Oh, (((LadyM))) -- for dgd's tantrum, AND the disappointment re: dd's plans. Oh well...
The tantrum -- I think I told y'all, dgs here had a little fit in CVS last weekend. THANKFULLY, we were in one of the inner aisles, so we did not have much of an audience, but I definitely can sypathize. And OF COURSE, they choose to do this when our hands are full or we are otherwise occupied so that we are at a physical handicap in managing their little jerking/kicking bodies. Well, actually, dgs's ploy was to lie down on the floor and refuse to get up.
* sheesh * But, as you said, it passed fairly quickly and we continued on our way.
DS called tonight; dgs has been out playing in the snow w/his other grandma -- neat that he gets to experience this so much with them, since it's such a rarity here.
And when I asked ds, who was on his way to pick up a pizza, if the roads were bad, he said, "Nah, but I've got this 4-wheel drive truck now, so I'll be fine."
Sooo glad he was able to get that truck. I think my ddad would be happy to know ds was so proud of it and felt so much safer in it when they have to make these winter trips.
I made the jello/cool whip/cherry/pecan salad... talked to dmom... offered to bring her some potatoes and sour cream b/c she said she had realized she was out. She said no, she would just get them bright and early in the morning; she didn't feel like doing anything with them tonight anyway. She makes some kind of mashed potato dish w/sour cream that we all think we HAVE TO HAVE for Thanksgiving.
DUH. I just now -- seriously -- just now as I'm typing this -- realized I could have just offered to do the potato dish on my own. * sheesh *
At least now I feel confident that I could do it. After last year, managing the chicken and dressing, I think I could manage most anything they throw at me.
LOL -- as long as I don't have to TRAVEL with anyone to do it... or make plans that COMMIT me to some sort of SOCIAL activity.
* sigh *

Waving ~~~~~ to everyone while wearing earmuffs & mittens. Brrrrr it's cold & snowy around here!
I told my dh yesterday that lately my To Do list has been longer than the amount of time I have in a day. The most important things get done, but lots gets carried over into the next day. And it's not even holiday stuff! One phone call, request from dh or spontaneous trip out of the house can put me so behind as new things suddenly take priority.
I find that I'm not on the computer until evening most days, because I know if I turn it on before dark I'll spend time online that really needs to be spent on my To Do list. Tonight I'm relaxing. I just polished my nails, & I'm going to go & make some hot cocoa & then cuop for today. I'm well over a week behind here again, but have been thinking of the village as I go about my days, wondering what all of you are up to.
Off to make the cocoa --oh, & put the pumpkin pies I made earlier into the fridge while that heats up. Hope you all are having a wonderful evening!

(((Twins' Mom)))...
(((LadyM)))....
I finished reading a book, ordered the companion to it, and look forward to that arriving next week, sometime.
DH is watching the PBS Ken Burns' baseball marathon, this evening.
I wrote my Thanksgiving "to do" list last night, but will go check it over tonight, to see if I should re-write it or not.
Am on my way to s2s, shampoo, and wind down for the night.
DD and DGS arrive around 1 p.m. tomorrow.
It'll be raining tomorrow and Friday, with cool temps and sunshine, this weekend. At least it'll be sunny and uplifting.
Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!

Re: Wednesday What if.....
Home from my errands.
Dinner was a disappointment. We got out of here late so were slightly pressed for time. The fish restaurant was full so we had to leave and do Subway (I had planned on fish and chips but didn't want to 'waste' those calories on anything else.) Subway was fine, it was just that we were to have fish and chips on Sunday but were too tired. Monday I realized that we could eat out tonight and I could do errands (the restaurant is right across from where dh goes to choir.)
Costco, BB&B, HD, groceries went smoothly. It is not the day before a big holiday here so there were no lineups. BBB and HD took a total of 11 minutes but I cheated and drove across the parking lot from one store to the other.
I got to dh 7 minutes early (not quite enough time to get gas) and he got out 15 minutes late so I had a wait for him but there was an interesting show on the radio and I had my tablet with its Scrabble game.
We gassed up the car and then came home and put things away. Tried to fix some light strands and got nowhere. I can't return the tool I bought so will have to hope it will recover another strand in the future. I still don't know how I'm going to decorate the windows with Christmas lights but I'm determined to do so. Despite being so high, you can see our windows from the parkway and people are stuck in traffic there every night so I'd like to have some decorations up.
Picked up a present for dd and dsil so the shopping has begun.
Traditionally, tomorrow is our shopping day. Dh would know that the business phone wouldn't be ringing and there were no deadlines for this week from our US customers so it was a great day for us to take the whole day off and get a good start on the shopping. Nowadays, I don't really shop for anyone. Dh and I don't do presents at all any more (there's a relief) and I only get the kids a few things because we prefer to give experiences. Not sure what the experiences will be this year.
Off to bed, late again.

LOL Elizabeth! Yes, that conversion chart is a problem for those who scored 34-36 30 years ago -- but surely you are younger than me and weren't taking the test 30 years ago? Actually, I took it 32 years ago. I was a 15 year old junior. I did well, but in those days, we were advised not to study for the exam, so different from today. In fact, I've heard rumors that some universities, including Harvard, are going to discontinue using standardized test scores for admission b/c they feel they tell them more about the family's resources (to pay for classes and tutors, etc.) than the kids' abilities. I also heard this from a friend who did his graduate work at Harvard. Lots of questions are running around in my head if this does happen, but I'm not sure it actually will. However, it is an interesting commentary on the climate of some university admissions.
Yes, I agree LadyM, it is a good idea not to make scores too public. Some kids are naturally competitive and that info can feed into that.
We realized later that we were too public in our family with ds' scores, but fortunately dd19 ended up scoring very close to him on the ACT. She is probably our most competitive kid and will keep track of things like that. Dd16 is a slightly different person and probably won't remember their scores - or even care. We do hope she doesn't feel any pressure to keep up. I personally feel more laissez-faire about her standardized testing. Maybe I'm just getting tired? I'm also seeing that test scores may/may not say that much about a student. I'm sure dh did very poorly on the ACT or SAT with English being a second language for him + his dyslexia. --He just said he did have to take one of those, and he did very well on science and math but very poorly on the rest. He did manage to get into a good school anyway.
We went to see Big Hero 6 tonight, a really fun movie! We never picked up the redbox movie. Maybe tomorrow. Dh and I went over and took care of S and R's cats. They didn't leave a note, so we don't know how much to feed them. I just filled up their bowls. Tori is here now.
OK, I'm going to figure out when I need to start the turkey and then go to bed.

CI: Finished 6 out of 7x7 things on my list, will change the sheets tomorrow evening.
Fudge is made and cooling. Ground beef is browned, just waiting for the onions to finish cooking so that combo can go in the fridge overnight.
We are supposed to be at DSis's at 11:30 a.m. It takes a little less than an hour to drive there. The nacho cheese sauce with meat needs to cook in the crockpot for at least 2 hours.
Tomorrow morning should be relatively low stress.
* Feed the cat.
* Put stuff in the crockpot and remember to turn it on.
* Shower and wash my hair; dress in home clothes temporarily so I don't spill coffee on my good outfit.
* Cut the fudge and package it.
* Have a small breakfast.
* Make sure everything is in the tote bags ready to go.
* Maybe watch a little tv if I'm running ahead of schedule -- unlikely, but in theory it could happen some day.
* Put on makeup, put styling mousse in my hair and hope for the best.
* Get dressed including jewelry.
* Remember to put the crockpot in the car.
* Feed the cat again before we leave.
We will be home by supper time but probably will not want to eat any more. If we want a snack in the evening, we have fruit. And fudge.

Re: Wednesday What if.....
I have nearly finished a load of laundry and a reading book. We had pizza for dinner tonight. Cold weather this weekend is in the forecast. I am avoiding the stores decided h can have canned peaches in bis jello salad if he wants fruit in it I don't need the extra carbs. Saved the olives I had told h. Not to eat em before turkey dinner so I did not have to do a store run. Got the pie out if the freezer.
