Hi everyone! Complained too loudly in the morning meeting about my deployment issues. Guess who is assigned to fix it? Got an EARLY call this am, school is closed for DD12. Of course, my office opened right on schedule. Having the early call did get me up for extra time to drive to the train. I needed it, the city roads were wretched! Rumors on the train about state offices closing, turned out to be just that. It would not have mattered anyway. If my office closed, it would have been possible to get off at the next station, and take the next train back. However, by the time I got back, it would be time to leave again!

My queries (left overnight) had timed out. My deploy (also overnight) had failed. No word from the vet yet. That means I have a total of 3 DPCs to make. One is to an investment company. Got my latest statement. Months ago, I gave them the forms to accept a rollover. Where is my money? We're talking about 60k missing here.

What I got done last night: LOL washed, previous LOLs partially put away. Suitcase emptied of clothing, still need to put gifts somewhere. New wiper blades installed. Grocery run. And that's about it.

Harmony: I wish the o-rings had fixed the faucet. Tried that already. Next, I will try replacing the stuff inside the handle. I really don't want to buy another faucet set. I don't need the expense, and Elizabeth's Own Plumbing Company really doesn't want the work.

Moose tastes like beef is great! Put stew veg in crock pot and romin noodle seasonings with it.
I do not like venison. Some of pur birds have beem too gamey.
made bed, spiffed kitchen, boiled eggs, did chicken chores, ordered fiber to process waiting on delivery. Yarn meeting & gkids here this afternoon. trying to figure out a way to make apple cake to use up some milk.

I tried volunteer for the local MOPS program as I really enjoyed it when my d kids were little but I am not part of their church. I love programs that help young moms!

d Harriet we call teenage helpers here child labor - d kids always were told it was a good thing.. I wonder why they didn't find it as cute as dh and I did.

I finished decluttering the dining room table... I don't grasp why this area is always a problem. With me being gone I am finding the house to be messier - not sure if I like it.

Not a terrific day here... I have the crud to and a very bullfroggy voice. I have eated all above varmints mentioned, plus rattlesnake, turtle and elk. My dad was a bird hunter. His secret for cooking bird was to use oranges when baking. Our wild fowl never tasted gamey. I've cooked dove as well and soak them in buttermilk first. Have done the same with rabbit. Been more than 20 years since I've had fresh game to cook, but do have some ground deer sitting I. My freezer. A friend game it to me at Xmas, gonna make chili out of it.

So sorry to here about your guina pig Helia. My son had many. His first ones name was Turbo because he could run so fast and was hard to catch. My exdh took him outside to enjoy some grass and he escaped never to be seen again.

So sorry to hear that Sunny has shingles. Sending well wishes.

Lucylee.. You may have to send the fire dept to rescue your naked dh if his shower falls through. If you do have a bad leak that water may be effecting your house's foundation and in that case you will have more than just a bathroom to worry about.

I am about to get my pillow and blanket and crawl back into bed. Yesterday I watched the Austrian open... The one tennis match lasted 4 hours and 12 minutes and even sweetie got sucked into it. He's not feeling too great either.

That area here is always a problem -especially since dsonil uses it for his 'landing pad' for everything! That and all the chairs, the kitchen counter, etc, etc -you get the picture. But I guess it's job security.

Just finished doing the dishes and washing my hair -in that order. Now waiting for it to dry then dh and I will make a w mart run. Time to pick up drinking water and I need a few other things. Also want to pick up the floor cleaner RR mentioned to use with my new mop. When we return, we'll dig out the vacuum cleaner (which is also nigh onto impossible for me to run btw -so add me to that bunch). Have to find a throw rug to put in front of our dresser. Dh insists on opening packages of chips, cookies, crackers there and always has crumbs on the floor. Leaves little other than dragging the vacuum in here for that space if nothing else. At least with a rug there I could perhaps pick it up and shake it out (outside).

At risk of giving LucyLee something to 'worry' about. Our shower had leaked behind that wall (evidently for some time) when we finally realized it. Dh had to tear the wall out and unfortunately we ended up taking that whole side of the house off (upstairs and down). It had seeped into the plywood and that had rotted. So a small repair turned into a much bigger one. (No kidding!)

There are way too many germs and ill people in this village right now. Sending a soft warm breeze to refresh the air and chase all the germs away!

And there are way too many attitude problems too. I put myself in that boat. Hours on the phone this morning with insurance company, who for the umpteenth time did not send our paperwork to co. offices and DH had stacks of work to go to 2 different counties with and we are dead in the water without this being done. Nobody will let us have a permit without proof of insurance first. I simply do not know why people...do...not...do...their...jobs.

This year I was proactive. Talked with our rep. in November and December, alerting her to the ongoing problem. Faxing new address list. Acknowledging receipt of such and reassurance of solution to problem. Nothing. Done.

Ok, if I can't say anything good....

Feeling shaky this morning again. Beginning to get too many paper hotspots all over so accomplishing something takes forever and is stressful. I just want my pillow.

I'm going off to get dressed now.

Sorry about the pet, helia. Know your DKids probably miss it. When DGSons Hamster died, it was very sad, the kids were very attached. He'd lived a long while.

Made up 2 batches of apple muffins, w half the batter yellow & ch. Cake mixes coconut and oatmeal. Those are cooling the rest of tbe batter is cooking in cake pans might be skinny cake lol should have used smaller pans but they were already sprayed they will eat it anyway. House smells SO yummy dgson had to call his mom to gk hone sick He was coughing and feeling puny in Tues. H was coughing a bit too.

I need to peel eggs still.
Cakes are done now.
Got quote for furnace not to bad until the added labor in. Ack!

Since I am often emcumbered with yesterday's nonsense, I thought it would be good for me to think on this from time to time. I taped the quote to my clipboard, below the daily/weekly checklist.

I cannot imagine why anyone needs cards AND a checklists, but it seems neither one works for me alone.

Good thoughts on the recipes, Harriet. If things like that were not written down and preserved, generations later would think it was all just some crazy thing people made up, wouldn't they? Still thinking on the broth issue, though. See, if I am to add canned broth, then I must buy canned broth. These are not staples we just have sitting around here... you're thinking of my mother, maybe, or my grandmother... I have never had a reason to use canned broth. Isn't that embarrassing? Never thought about broth at all until I took on Thanksgiving 2013, LOL...

BTW -- we are so enjoying the late night (early morning) Andy Griffith shows lately. Last night in the first episode, Opie fell in love with Miss Crump. Then in episode 2, Ernest T. Bass fell in love with her! So glad I never had to take an Ernest T. Bass into my classroom.

And, I appreciate all your concern re: the shower situation and what it may lead to... AND your concern that you not give me something else to worry about (y'all know me so well)... But these are just things that I have decided to leave in dh's hands. He gets so irritable about having to "call the man" that I'm in the attitude to think, "Well, fine. Wait till it cost five times what it would right now. Fine." Maybe I won't be the one to fall through the floor in the five minutes I spend there every week.

Dee -- I would definitely recommend a throw rug for dh's "area." One of the smartest things I ever did was to get a cheap throw rug to put in front of our sofa. We eat in there half the time, and our big area rug is almost white for the background, with pastel flowers/design as a border. There are still some spots of the big rug, but OOOHHH, this little area rug has saved us a TON of spills/crumbs/etc. I shake it out sometimes, and I can put it in the washing machine.

* sigh * No teenagers here either... dgs LOVES to help but is limited in his skills at this point.

Blessed, that seems kinda confusing re: your duncle, but I hope it is NOT cancer and things do look brighter for all of you!


Y'all -- that rock project -- dfriend said she painted mod podge onto her rocks w/a regular paintbrush, waited 2 hours, then did the other side. She put them on a wire cooling rack to do it.
1st -- this means I need a cooling rack that I do NOT want to cool cookies on again, right? Who wants cookies that may have mod podge residue on them?
2nd -- I have seen the spray-on mod podge and that seems a lot easier -- what would be the difference?
3rd -- I have seen all varieties of mod podge -- matte, pearlized, etc... I'm thinking pearlized would be really pretty, but would it be too "pearly" and distort the writing?
4th -- Wonder if anyone at Hobby Lobby could answer these questions, if y'all come up with nothing?

Well... still feel stiff from yesterday's exertions, but glad to know I'm not alone in the losing battle with the vacuum.
So far I have s/s both toilets, had breakfast, straightened bed covers and did my 5 min exercise.

I think my cousin just spent about $50 on one of these. I don't know about y'all but that seems awfully expensive to me. What makes this planner so much better than one I could get at Office Depot? (Y'all know how susceptible I am to the PLANNING stage. I don't know WHAT it would take to get me to the DOING stage, but I kinda doubt a $50 planner would do the trick. * sigh * )

Now that's a good idea, Nancy! Actually I don't have any chicken noodle soup right now, but I like it, so I wouldn't mind having an extra can around.

Y'all would be amazed -- horrified? -- shocked? to look at my cabinets.
Especially since we eat out so often, and dh is so, shall we say, frugal... we do NOT stock up on a lot of stuff we may or may not use.
We buy groceries once a week, and we get what we expect to need for that week -- mostly breakfast stuff, fruit, etc.
I have a surplus of granola bars, soup, and crackers right now (but the soup is all chicken gumbo).
If I decide I'm going to cook, I'll buy the stuff I need for that meal... but I don't just HAVE stuff sitting around, waiting on the muse to strike me.
It's kinda embarrassing in a way, but dh has a phobia about "wasting" food.
