Good Morning, Villagers!

It's cloudy here, dry, but rains are coming for Super Bowl Sunday!

I have snail mail to catch up on, so will do quick computer letters, to get them done. I need to get some dresses done for DGD and snakes and a puppet for DGS. They're actually the priority IMHO, but the snail mail stacking up, is "bugging" me, like a stupid insidious monkey on my back. I like pen palling, but when the letters, to reply to, multiply, it isn't a "lot" of fun right then. Maybe it's "just me"? I don't know. The crochet becomes a chore, when there's a lot to do, but it's still fun, especially doing it to good movies or music.

and then I did a second, very nice post with personalized greetings and responses to everyone...
and LOST it -- b/c dh was rushing me, IMHO, to get s2s.

We have to attend another funeral visitation this afternoon. We did not know the deceased, but dh has been friends with her father for many years. They golf together occasionally. The daughter was 33 years old, and had some sort of special needs/disability -- I'm not sure what. Her parents divorced when she and her sister were very young and she moved out of town with her mother, so I never got to know her in school.
So it's not a FANCY day for us, but I am now s2s and dressed in something other than yoga pants or jeans. I don't know what dh's plans are for after the funeral. We'll be close to B elk and it would be a good day to swap those sheets.

Your gift tags sound so nice, Harriet! That's a great idea. I've never been to Tuesday Morning, but now I want to go. Dxsisil always finds neat stuff there.
Also -- (((BIG HUGS))) for your dd35 in hopes that her stress load can be lessened... AND dd16 -- how frustrating to find out a teacher has failed to notice her presence.

Elizabeth, that is very wise to change your will to eliminate the Other Woman, etc. from having any input in dd's welfare. Good for you. Of course, we hope this issue will never, ever come to light, until dd is a very old lady... but still. DH and I need to make a will, just to simplify things for ds/ddil.
That raises another issue, which I may have mentioned earlier -- ddil was kinda put-out that dmil's will only left things to dh/dbil and then their children. No mention of wives. Dmom says this is quite standard, and when we mentioned making a will to dbil, he said, "Yeah, you need to do that, just a simple thing leaving everything to ds and dgs..."
Is that how your wills are, or do you name your children-in-law in your wills?

Now dh wants me to call bank and see if my check was deposited. I'll ttyl, I HOPE.

I love the title today of this thread! I had write letters on my list today that did not happen this am yet... but I did make the bed and look over the adds before we do groc shopping this weekend.

I did sneek in a bit of knitting th is am working on the set up row to get the markers in place that felt good.

Breakfast is over thinking on lunch now.

lucylee: I think it is pretty standard to only will things to direct relatives. That being said, my remote contingency beneficiaries (those who inherit if DD predeceases me and has no descendants) are my nieces (if I had nephews they would be included). They would inherit an education trust and it names my brother's stepdaughter as well. However, she would not inherit family jewelry, just money. In my family, for generations, it has been specifically forbidden (but probably not legally enforceable) that family jewelry is NEVER to be given to in-laws. If there is a divorce, it could be lost to the family forever.

Lucylee, I'm thinking most wills are written that things go to their relatives and not the inlaws, but I suppose that would depend on the relationship to the inlaws. If an inlaw was very very very close to the person, she/he might include them also... or if something in particular was wanted and intended to go to an inlaw that would be included to that person. We've had 3 deaths in our families and I can say that in all cases things were left just to the relative. Inlaws are just along for the ride!

I've been doing the ever mounting paperwork chase around here. It is never all done, and it morphs any other job or schedule I have. It is very discouraging and tiring.

DH had me figuring out some numbers with him and that was a long process. I am not a numbers person, I find that part of my job very difficult. I can only do the things I do because I have notes, charts, forms, etc. When I have to figure out something different, I can feel the stress mounting.

DH took 3 dehumidifiers up to that house today to dry it out. I hope we never have a leak like that!

I must get back to my chores around here. I'm not feeling too great as I worked really hard yesterday. And it is cold in here. Warm right by the fireplace, but at my desk and in the office it is chilly and adds to my irritation.

I really hope everyone is having a better day than I am!

Laundry is all washed and dried. I have 4 baskets to put away. (None of them are full)

I also stopped for 2 cases of cola and a case of water.

Seems logical not to include in-laws in a will. We all know people who marry so often that the parents would have to be changing the wills quite regularly if in-laws were named! As well, people don't marry these days but simply live together and those wouldn't be covered in a will even if they are parents of your grandchildren. So keeping it simple and only covering your 'issue' and not in-laws makes sense to me..

I certainly wasn't names in dfil's will, not dh in my dad's will.

No progress to report here except weekly kitchen chores are done except for mopping the floor. I unpacked the sheets and they seem very nice. We've set up the telescope and it may be too powerful and awkward. With the binoculars I could see a big white building in the hills but with the scope I could tell it was a satellite dish. On the other hand, we can't see easily on the water because it is designed to aim up to the sky. So I'm not sure it will meet my expectations.

Next up, I need to clean up all the packaging strewn over the living room.

It's still foggy here, or what DH calls "Low-Hanging Clouds." It's sort of pretty, as it hangs low in the tall trees.

I wrote/printed up 3 computer letters. It's so nice to be able to say more, in fewer paper pages, a lot quicker, and to be able to add clip art, too. I put in Valentine's on the first page and on the last page, I put a football helmet.

DH left to return some cheap shoes, which don't fit me right- because they ARE cheap. I'm wearing black New Balance, which Ddil told me about, a W. WA Site, here, who sells them, with a fantastic return policy. The shoes are GR8 for dress, because they're all black and not white, which soils quickly. I love them. Would love to be able to find some Doc Martins, like DD used to wear in college. They were all leather, lace-up black shoes, she said how comfy they were, and they looked nice on her. She sold shoes at Penney's on commission all through H. S. AND college. Now, if she should ever get bored with work, she can sell shoes OR become a certified paralegal. She got her paralegal certificate through the U of W, a few years ago, for the "heck of it". She always knows she can use that, if she should ever want to change careers. It's so neat she thought ahead with that idea. One of my friends, back East is a paralegal 2 now, just got promoted with a good raise. She's so excited and I'm thrilled for her! She's so amazing!

DH will also run into PetCo, to get Kitty Cat a new scratching post. She's scratched out all of the rug-type fibers in this one. It helps her paws keep down shorter, too. She claws before she goes out into the garage, to do her "small game hunting", for mice! She's only caught 1 mouse 1 time, in the garage and she ate most of it. Since then, she's never caught a garage mouse, but she catches them in the house, when they come out from under the main/guest bathroom sink. She brings them into the great room area, where DH gets his gloves on, catches the mouse, and puts it outdoors. It doesn't happen very often. I know she wants us to see the mouse and praise her, but it's funny how she lets them "GO"! And it's even more funny, to watch DH run all over the place, under furniture, in the dining room, huff 'n' puff and he's just way too comical when he does that. I keep my feet up, in the chair, when this is going on, and I giggle. I'm naughty, aren't I? One day, she got a mouse into the great room, about 6 A. M.! I was too scared to catch the mouse myself, so I got DH. I got him out of bed, which wasn't too cool, because it messes his sleep up. We used to have good luck with PB in the mouse traps, but now they don't buy it at all! I don't "get" it.

I want to copy down 2 recipes, to mail to 1 pen pal, our DD and Ddil. Also, I've got a quilting article with a photo, for my pen pal, and a couple of things, for DD and Ddil to send to them. For Ddil there was an article about organizing, in "Real Simple," magazine and they talked about organizing Legos and also, they had some craft ideas, for old empty DVD cases. 1 was turned into a gift card box, 1 was turned into a crayon/colored pencils/markers container, with paper, and the ideas were cute and smart. For DD, I found a great article (same magazine) all about relationships with friends or boyfriends, putting up boundaries, when to drop the boundaries and how to act, if you run into an old friend, whom you're not friends with anymore. Like running into an old female friend, once you stopped talking, at a party or theater or in a grocery store. I liked their article and DD has so many friends, I felt this article would be helpful for her or for one of her Dfriends.

I need to start 1 LOL, now that DH is gone. My "goal" is to have the load put away, before he gets back home. He'll be gone quite awhile, too, because he has 3 stops to make. It'll give me time to crochet and get the LOL done and hope to MT the DW, too.

Hello all! I'm posting from work - on my laptop at my desk. Boy, does that feel funny. I'm actually done with work for the day, have entered grades into the computer and am heading out in a minute. Like the last couple of days, this was another running around day. I left the house at 9:15, went to WW, went straight from WW to work, subbed in a class from 11 - 1, scrambled to get everything ready for my class and eat lunch from 1 - 1:30, taught 1:30 - 3:30. Now, I'm exhausted! --But, my Friday afternoon tutee cancelled, so I'm free to go home and veg a bit. It is now 4 pm.

WW says I'm down another 1.8 lbs. That means I've lost 3.8 lbs. this month. I'm trying to exercise more regularly.

Tomorrow will be yet another day of running around: the district solo/ensemble festival with dd16 is tomorrow in a city about an hour away. We'll be leaving at 8 a.m. and home again by 12:30, hopefully. Dd16 has a trio, a duet, and a solo. . . .Then, there is a memorial service for a girl who used to go to our church and who latched onto our ds20 when they were both about 10 years old. I think she died of leukemia. She was an only child. I can't imagine what her parents are going through. . . . I'd like to go to the service if I can. . . Then, I might go jogging with dh. He is leaving for Europe (some business in France and then family business in NL; the siblings are meeting to go through things from the house where they all grew up since dfil recently moved out of it and into an apt.) Saturday night, to return the following Saturday. Of course, there are a gazillion things I'm behind on I'd like to work on too. I need a free day!! --Not going to happen soon. I'm also teaching at the moms group next week, so I need to carve out about 10 hours of prep time for that. (That's a high estimate of how long it takes me.)

Dh and I are planning to go out for coffee tonight, maybe that will be fancy.
