I have decided to put the roo in tonight so on Sat. A.m. folks can sleep in, and when grands are here they can help round him up and get him in side. The rain has been making everything such a mucky mess I xid not want to chase hime and fall also toddlerN was still her at the dinner feeding time so I did not want to take the extra time for that.

RR - Thank you! I copied your two post from last night explaining what they will be looking for in LO psych eval. I will read your posts again right before leaving for his appointment so the information will be fresh. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me!

I just got call saying LO psych eval will be covered entirely by insurance! WhoooHOOO!! All we have to do is cover the $20 co payment. Then I did a little "snooping???" Uhmmmm...I mean investigating. The person that will be doing LO evaluation has a website has also written a book about not aging gently.

I have printed DD ABLE licenses and have them ready for her to pick up when she drops DGD3 off. I'm not 100% sure but I think DGD3 will be staying with us through Monday (day/night).

This afternoon I will volunteer at LO school for 3 hours. I can take DGD3 with me if DH is doing something that would put DGD3 in danger. Tonight DH will take LO to his Karate belt testing while I stay home and welcome the FNG which meets in our home.

I think you're absolutely right, blessed. Those sorts of competitive comments are often more about the parent than the child or the school. I am feeling bristly with Harriet on this one. I'd be happy to compare test scores and educational outcomes, especially long term ones, between any of my public-school educated kids and private school kids. Our public high school sends kids to each Ivy League school + Stanford, etc. every year. Last year, in dd19's class, I know of at least 4 kids who went to MIT, 3 of them to study mathematics. More than that, I thank our public high school for the fact that my kids have developed broad academic interests. One Univ. major just doesn't cover it for them. Ds20 is doing engineering with a linguistics minor; dd19 is dual majoring in art and psychology. Dd16 is interested in design plus something else, which she's not sure about, but possibly music. I also thank our public high school for dd19's love of ethnic diversity; she's said she wouldn't want to study somewhere that was racially homogeneous. Her bff from church (and growing up) is at the big U with her, and she is of Taiwanese background, the dd18 of our skiing friends.

OK, I'm finishing lunch and need to finish grading. I did go to WW - up 0.9 lbs. No surprise there. I did walk with dfriend for a good hour. It was cold but fun.

LadyM, was thinking about the vaccination question you posted recently...especially with today's news of new measles cases...there are new vaccinations us older people never had. When one of my kids was born there was swine flu around and noone but DH was allowed to see the baby! Oh, I would like to read a book about Not Aging gently! I think that's us!

blessed, your DD sounds like a wonderful young lady. I wish I had been as able to overcome the problems I had in school, but I had no clue how to do that, and dropped out after 2nd year of college. I was in advanced German class in 7th grade, and they did everything verbally and I couldn't learn. I wasn't chosen to go on to the 8th grade class. There was not the knowledge way back then; I really wish there was, I might have done better.

Ok, I better get moving here. I am working on all the filing in the office so I can start the files over for the new year.

Knee deep in papers here in Doveland. I'm working in the office & am committed to spending lots of time in here over the weekend. It really needs it. At the moment I'm giving the shredder a well deserved rest. The focus for today will be files & filing cabinets. Last year I cleaned out almost all of an old filing cabinet, & today I'm diving into the current one. I meant to do this in January to start fresh in 2015, but better late than never. I have a box set a side for all the papers that will need to be shredded from that. But first, I'm moving some boxes out of here & (temporarily) into the bedroom, so I have more floor space & can move around a little easier. This room has become a dumping ground & it has been bugging me for a long time.

My desk will be next. I'll spare you the details, except to say that there really is a desk underneath all that stuff.

Break time is over, & ddog wants to go out. Better bundle up for that.

When I work fleece my hands are more soft and supple but I still need to apply bag balm that I use in place of hand lotion so not so much as you would think.

I cooked up the meat for chili and switched out my crock pots as I did not need the largest one that med. one works best.

Got fresh leaves in the nest boxes for the hens this morning.

Worked at church this morning, then went to Al di's for a few things, then on to "Steak & Sh ake" to celebrate dbil/dsisil's birthdays (that's where they wanted to go and then of course found fault with everything. ) Lunch was good as far as we were concerned.

Dh did dishes and I straightened up some through the house. Also had gotten a k-cup drawer for under the coffee maker and put that in place and filled it. That was my choice because I hated the boxes of k-cups being left here 'n there. Also bought a flexible/expandable shelf unit to go under dd's sink. Dh and I will pull everything out and use the shelf and hopefully throw out some extra stuff.

I had to quit as my lower back started hurting. Now I think I'll read for a little bit.

I have another hour and a half before heading over to dd younger's physical therapy

I hadn't called d uncle since Tuesday evening. He thought I forgot him.. My brother saw him Wednesday. dd younger had some issues with health again so I have been worrying about her more than him... terrible I know... d uncle already said he will need my help come the 12th when he is home... i am beginning to panic as I don't want to become a full time care taker again while dd younger is going through all this. D brother promised I shouldn't have to but I am worried about d uncle being disappointed with me. I will do my best. It would be so much easier if he was at my house - then I could care for him and still be there for my family.

Thank you for the insight, blessed. And Kathryn, having to concede "greater than" (better or worse but always greater) when you talk with your sister must keep the two of you from a lot of enjoyable chats.

I spent some time today trying to figure out why this extreme competitiveness for my dsisil, the need to out-do. I do feel for her that she can't stop this constant drive. Yes, blessed, it really comes out with the grandchildren and the need to prove that her specific family is somehow set apart or special. (Her two brothers' families are not included in the specialness she sees.) She misses those moments of happiness we can all have for others when they want to tell something important to them.

And helia, I did have this "is she picking a fight?" feeling I had to quell. Besides HRH and I, most who would be reading have family involved in public schools, too, so I know, we're not alone in our ... ... dismay. And most with children in schools she approves in the post would probably distance themselves from her opinions. So is she posting to impress someone in a position at her grandchildren's school? If so, she either thinks it is worth alienating others, or has she completely forgotten others see her posts in her determination to brag? Both those possibilities worry me for her. She's always been a savvy woman. This is opposite.
