I am checking in and need to do a few things. I am feeling better - very low grade temp and tummy has handled crackers, sprite and some sips of water adequately but feels a little queasy. I got on the phone and let the temple know I wasn't cooking (offered to make a contribution to cover cost of a crock pot of soup if they could buy some) and the out of town guest will stay with the rabbi. Probably not as good for him but OTOH at least he won't get sick. I was trying to put together dinner out with him tomorrow evening and only one board member has responded that can have dinner. Hopefully by tomorrow night I can go?

-respond to dcousin's email
-brush teeth
-call vet about meds for dMacs
-move sheets over to the dryer
-see if I feel like a shower at that point

(blessed). Know it is hard to pick a priority when some are demanding your attention.

Dove  You and I are both elbow deep in paper today. I have my desktop and letter boxes emptied and clear. The office surfaces, not so much. I'm 1/2 way through the file cabinet.

Keep getting interrupted with phone calls. DH will call me to tell me to take care of something that would be faster if he just went ahead and did it himself. The filing cabinet purge has uncovered another problem with dreaded insurance agency I've been having so many problems with for the past several years. I've been trying to hang on with these people for a while now, thinking surely it will get better and we'll be done with them when we retire. It's getting worse. New problem I discovered, I never received a renewal policy for our major business insurance. They are charging us, so I know we are covered - whew! - but no paperwork arrived at all.

I need to do a conga around here, if nothing else a major pick-up-and-put-away. sigh...I can't get this work done so I'll have time to do it.

Right now I'm in the valley of discouragement...

dd younger had some issues with health again so I have been worrying about her more than him... terrible I know...
Absolutely NOT terrible, dblessedw2! It's completely normal. Your dd younger is certainly closer to you and your immediate family. You're not ignoring your duncle's issues at all and you would feel even worse if you were ignoring dd's needs. You're balancing the best you can.

I hate today. I really, really, hate today.

Nothing really important has happened, it is all petty, petty, petty stuff but the result is that I'm screaming and crying and throwing a full on tantrum because not one thing has gone right today.

I made a conscious decision because my foot hurt from standing in 1" heels yesterday and walking in my boots as opposed to hiking boots (so my foot slides around and my toes get scrunched against the end) to not push myself to make up the 3200 steps I was short for the day. It will be hard to make them up over the next three day but possible if I pushed myself today.

So I took a walk to the bank. That just over a mile away. Guaranteed 5K steps, probably 6K.

No fitbit. I didn't shower until the afternoon but took off my PJs for the wash and attached it to my dressing gown and left it there. Normally I take off my pjs right before my shower so toss the fitbit on the bed next to my clothes I'll be putting on. But today I didn't do that and for the first time ever, I forgot to put on my fitbit.

So now I'm down 8K steps. In any given month, I don't go 8K more than I need, 5K maybe, but not 8K. So now I have 22 days to make up the extra steps. Mathematically it is easy but not physically because there are days when I simply can't walk the 4 miles a day that my monthly goal requires. And the fact that I do more than that some days will balance things out but not to the point.

That's a huge problem with the fitbit. It only counts what it actually counts. If you swim the Channel you get only the credit for the time you walked to and from the water's edge. The rest can be noted but doesn't count towards your steps. Reviews have commented that if all you care about is steps, it is fine but if you want to get credit for doing things other than steps, choose another sort of tracker.

So I spent half the day trying to fix my tablet. I've washed dishes, tidied my bedroom, walked to the bank, done laundry but won't get credit for the big walk and am further frustrated on a day when nothing seems to go right.

Chili is in the crock pot & the house smells great.

 :!: :o :? Somebody called us, Pacific Time, from Maine, at 6:37 A. M., and hung up, when they must have realized they had the wrong #. DH was up already, fixing the fire, heading back to bed. I'd gotten a good night's sleep, got up, and stayed up to do journal writing, have QT, and write letters, etc... Of course, later I fell asleep in my recliner. ;) We don't know anybody in Maine. I don't believe it's any business we are clients of either. This is the second time it's happened. It's okay, because I got up and got a lot done, later got in my rest, and then s2s, etc...

We're still having "The Pineapple Express," from Hawaii, with the warm temps and heavy rains, causing 6 river flood warnings and landslides. They say, even when these rains are over, about Sunday, the risk of landslides will remain, 3 days after the rains stop. We're having high winds, too, but no power outages, none mentioned on the news or anything.

DGS's college sent everybody home. A man drove up, parked his car on campus, got out, and said their was a bomb in the car, and walked off into the woods. DGS was standing right there, when the man got out of his car and did this. They called the police, who came, and read a dashboard note, about bombs being in the car. They evacuated the campus, sending everybody home, and brought in the SWAT team, etc... Currently, DGS nor we have heard anymore additional new news on this, since it's just happened, so I hope they'll find this guy.

I need to go address an envelope and look at my PODA. I'm listening to opera music. I used to absolutely hate opera with a passion, but the young male artist, Josh Groban, and also, Andre Bocelli, the blind opera singer, sing it so beautifully! There is also Jackie Evancho. These 3 singers have made opera a joy for me to listen to and enjoy the beauty of it. :) It's nice. ♥

I had "planned" on doing a Conga, but I've only been doing the usual upkeep on the house today. We've been doing "things" on and off all week. I might move my Conga over to Saturday, this week. I'm in the mood to do other things, I guess.

Have a great afternoon and upcoming weekend, too, Everyone ! :D

You can manually add steps to the fitbit (video)

Home from volunteer work at LO school. Beautiful day outside so I'm gathering tree limbs from the yard while watching LO and DGD3 play. We came in for a snack and will be returning outdoors when they finish.

Hopefully Lady M's link can put a smile on your day, Kathryn.

I was dismayed when I noticed that the 'trip' mileage had evidently set itself back to zero at some point in the past week. I usually reset the 'trip' to zero when we leave NY state and again when we leave Florida to go north. Gives me how many miles we've traveled in the interim. It happened once several weeks ago after we took our cruise and I was able to figure out our mileage -not sure this time. Grrr....not sure how that happens.

Hi everyone! Fast check in. Girls' Night Out with DD was spent going to Toys R Us. She examined some Pokemon cards, which were $16. Then, we went to the doll aisle (for me, not her). She suggested I buy and create clothes for the Monster High dolls. I am still debating on whether I should get the purple cat girl, or the ghost pirate. What I really would like to see is Rebecca Steam. Do I need more dolls? No. Do I have time to make more doll clothes? No. Will I buy one or more eventually probably. However, we both decided to save our money that night. Me, because I am running low; DD because her birthday is coming up. I will probably go back tonight and buy the cards and a doll (but which?). DD thought I should get the 6 armed spider girl for a challenge, but she was not very pretty to me. I didn't do much after she left - read a book.

Tonight, I am on the hook for cleanup after the youth fundraising dinner (the one I made the shawl for). Then, maybe get the cards. MUST MUST MUST pick up around the house.

I hate this day too, Kathryn. Job problems and difficulties have me stressed. If all I had to manage was my house, I would have NO problems. I can control what gets done in here, and I do what I'm supposed to do most of the time...or I get caught up if I don't. Out in the world I can't control all the things people don't do properly. That's where my stress comes from.

Wow, it looks like one could really be quite dishonest with their fitbit numbers!

I am still working away to get last year's records stashed away. I've made quite a dent in it. The piles are all put away, at least.
