Busy day here, as expected --
Retired teacher lunch
Post office
Paid two bills
Reconciled bank statement
Oil changed/tires rotated and balanced
Wmart
Grocery store for produce boxes
Dmil's -- unloaded boxes
Dgs here now

Dh is in a really bad mood and it is beginning to rub off on me. Dbil is going to college town with us tomorrow, but he can't leave until 30 min later than dh wanted to leave. It's just aggravating. Plus travel with him is no fun anyway -- he and dh both just seem so "stiff" with each other.
Wish we could just stay home.

Home for the final time today. I'm thankful for safe travels today in both the vehicle and walking to/from various appts. The roads are about 80% clear but the rest is covered with ice. I kept finding myself trying to walk at normal speed then hit a slick spot and find myself slip/sliding. Thankfully I didn't fall. So many blessings.

Supper was a mixture of left-overs. We normally eat around 5pm but didn't have time to eat until after 7pm. I cooked a pot of raisin/apples/cinnamon for a simple dessert.

A funny evening for me. Bought two little auctions on ebay that my mother would have liked, spending a bit over $20. A children's book by her college chum and a letter from her older first cousin on the old manual typewriter he used for his writing. He mentions his love for wife and children, and with it he signed a first-day cover of the 4-cent 1958 Freedom of the Press stamp. I don't usually collect bits of family stuff, but well, these are thin. What was I going to spend $20 on, anyway. Does anyone else buy presents because they would have delighted someone who's passed? Perhaps nutty. I suppose they are for my children, when they slow down enough to catch on.

Two steps forward, one step backward. I did ok most all day. Got 3 LOL done, tidied up a bit, did some paperwork. Watered the plants in one of the planters.

DH came in with his stack of papers and I was in the kitchen with him when I felt like oh no I'm feeling very cold and weak. Said I was going to lay down for a bit and woke 2 hours later. I guess this is going to take a while.

LadyM, I wonder if 2 weeks is enough of a trial for a new medicine. Doesn't it take that long or longer for a body to get used to side effects of a medicine and adjust? BTDT, not the same medicine, but it took longer than that to get used to an increase of the one I take. Just a thought.

Adventures in the Library: Let's call this The Night of the Big Poop from the Tiny Boy.

A man brought his 4 children in tonight to look at books and play with the toys in the children's room. I'm bad at guessing ages, but let's say the girls were 12, 7, and 5, and the little boy between 2 & 3.

The 12-year-old was fine on her own, of course. The 2 younger girls found a friend in the building and started playing a game with her in the main room book stacks. They wanted the dad to see something so he left the little boy playing with some soft toys and a truck in the children's room.

He left the boy alone a couple minutes too long. I looked up to see the dad carrying the boy quickly to the restroom, and I thought, "Wait, why isn't that little boy wearing pants?"

Skipping ahead a bit in the story, my guess is that the boy pooped his pants -- I'm assuming he was wearing a diaper because he looked too young to be potty trained -- and then he took off his pants and kept playing with the toys. While the dad took the boy to the restroom to clean up, he asked the 12-year-old girl to find the boy's pants. She did ... and then she picked them up ... and then a big mess fell out onto the carpet.

I mean honestly, I'm not sure how such a little boy made so much poop. It looked like something from a very large dog.

The girl was totally grossed out, especially when I held out a bunch of paper towels and brought the trash can over. She said, "You want ME to pick it up?!" She asked if we had any gloves. By the time my coworker found gloves in the first aid kit, the dad had come out of the restroom, handed the boy over to the big sister, used the paper towels to pick up the mess, and brought out more paper towels with soap on them to wipe the carpet.

Then he had to figure out how to get the boy home in the cold, because he hadn't brought an extra diaper or other clothes. It was way too cold to take him outdoors uncovered. Eventually the big sister wrapped the boy in her sweatshirt while the dad went out and started the car so it would warm up, and they all got their coats on and trooped out the door.

All 3 girls were fussing, so I had to keep reassuring them that it was ok, no one was in trouble, little kids often make messes, we just needed to figure out how to clean up. They did a good job putting away all the toys and crayons they had gotten out.

After the family left, my coworker J and I read the labels on various cleansers until I found the one that had directions for disinfecting carpet. (Professional grade product, disinfectant, fights bacteria and staph and all kinds of nasties. Wipe up as much mess as possible, spray until the carpet is soaked, let it air dry. Smells really strong!) J said she's scheduled to work first thing in the morning, so she will check the spot and see if it needs more cleaning.

I just keep smiling at how it didn't bother the little boy at all. He didn't cry, he was perfectly happy to take off his pants and keep playing, he was happy when his dad carried him around ... he was just a happy boy.

Oh my... LOL at the little boy... And sooo glad that has not happened to us (so far!) with dgs.

Crazy busy day today, another tomorrow, so am doing a very quick C. I. and will try to C. U. O. P. tomorrow afternoon or evening.

They got snow in Vegas, Dsis hasn't emailed today/tonight, so I wonder if they got it there, in UT. She told me, when it snows, there is no snow plow there, so everybody stays home. I find it comical, but Dsis and Dbil are from the Pacific NW, have driven in snow before. I just hope it doesn't snow on her surgery day, the 25th.
